Windows XP just isn't a good OS, as it keeps crashing for silly and its so slow, even in case you have 1-2GB of memory. If you've XP, I recommend that you just upgrade to Vista SP1 or 7 now.

Yes XP is just not perfect but hardly slow compared on the bloated and rushed VISTA. If you execute a clean install with XP as well as your computer remains slow it's your hardware or you might have the wrong drivers installed. This is just not XPs fault.
The next thing is to buy a brand new computer with 7. You can have a new one for any couple hundred and in case you need a great computer for tech then you are able to build your own for the few hundred also. Im sure you will find techs within your town that will help you. Either way the rule of thumb is XP for old computers, and 7 for first time ones. And in case you absolutely cant stand XP a celebrity then plunge to linux. Its free and much more secure.
Very, great Windows program
Easy to cope with problems, all to easy to navigate. Holds enough. Tells when there is often a problem and fixes it easily. Fast 85% with the time. Good household computer, tells each time a program may harm your personal computer, and asks in the event you would like to perform it.
Lags sometimes ANNOYING, is usually slow 35% on the time. When multiple tabs windows are running in the same time, the many programs immediately become unresponsive. When programs become unresponsive, pain from the neck to seal the program down.
Overall, I have had this computer ALL MY LIFE, and yes it still works like completely new. This computer is definitely an old but trusted friend, and in case you want to pick out a different program, go using this. You wont regret it!:

no choice but to convert to xp from ME. XP home works perfectly and all my old software is effective on it. No support for ME which worked well for me for a decade. Time to progress up to XP and keep software current.
XP will likely go down as Microsofts best main system ever. After service pack 2 and 3, they finally started using it working! Why reinvent the wheel? Im happy and hang up for at least two or three years because of a 50 upgrade pkg purchased off ebay
