For example, exact match key phrases links from spammy directories, marketing with articles, comment spam, forum spam, etc. Every fresh hit I analyzed yielded a terrible link profile by using these tactics. These were clear Penguin hits I could tell by merely looking at the keywords distribution that they are in serious Penguin danger.

Paul s screenshot shows an obvious uptick on 10/25 on the site suffering from Panda no Penguin or Pirate impact in any way.
And this underscores a critical problem for your average webmaster. If you focus on fixing your web site based for the wrong algorithm, they you'll undoubtedly spin your SEO wheels. Ive seen this often times over the years, and spinning wheels just waste money, time, and resources.
If you saw impact last week, you should make sure you know which algorithm update impacted your web site. Its not easy, when three external algos are roaming the internet all at one time.
