Slipstreaming a Service Pack, is the method to integrate the Service Pack to the installation making sure that with every new installation the Operating System and Service Pack are installed as well.
Slipstreaming is often done on network shares on corporate systems. But with the arrival of CD burners, it lets you do actually make some sense for that home user or small company user to try and do the same.
Microsoft added a chance to Slipstream a Service Pack to Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It not simply has the advantage any time you reinstall your OS, you do not have to apply the Service Pack later, also if you update any Windows component later, you discover sure that you obtain the correct installation files if Windows needs any.
Download the entire Network Install in the Service Pack English version 266 MB, and save it to some directory folder in your hard drive within my case D:XP-SP2. Other languages is available from the Microsoft Download Web site.
Note: avoid spaces within the folder name!
Next copy your Windows XP CD to your harddrive. Just produce a folder I used XP-CD, and copy every one of the contents of the Windows XP CD because folder.
Next, open a Command Prompt Start Run cmd, and navigate to the folder the place you downloaded SP2 cd foldername. Type the command: servicepack filename /integrate: drive/path. In my example the command is WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU/integrate:D:XP-CD.
This is brought on by the fact that the Windows XP CD contains updates that is to be automatically installed advertisements by connecting setup. This sort of CDs will most likely be from larger OEM suppliers like Dell, HP, kinds.
You cannot take advantage of this type of CD to develop a slipstreamed SP2 install.
First, the files will probably be extracted, and then suddenly they will probably be integrated inside your Windows XP files:
When ready, you ought to get a confirmation. Windows XP Service Pack 2 has now been slipstreamed to your original Windows XP files.
For this part I used IsoBuster and Nero Burning ROM 7/a.splitYou can needless to say use your own favorite CD-burning program. After you install IsoBuster, you'll be able to choose to use merely the products free functionality for the purpose we want to try and do; IsoBuster will look like the style below you have to have your original Windows XP CD from the CD-ROM drive.
Start to extract the boot loader from your original Windows XP CD. Using IsoBuster, pick the folder Bootable CD, and right-click Microsoft. From the menu choose Extract Microsoft, and extract it for the folder with your hard drive in which you have your Windows XP files D:XP-CD within my case.
Next, start Nero Burning ROM, and select CD-ROM Boot inside the New Compilation window. On the Boot tab, select Image file under Source of boot image data, and browse on the location in the Microsoft file. Also enable Expert Settings, choosing No Emulation, and changing the Number of loaded sectors to 4 otherwise it wont boot!
If you would like to older version of Nero you will not have an opportunity Do Not Add ;1 ISO file version extension under Relax ISO Restrictions. You wont have the capacity to boot your CD, so update Nero!
You can configure the Label tab on your liking; I would however propose that you keep the Volume Label a similar as on the original Windows XP CD. Here are some English Labels:
Next press New, and through the File Browser window, simply select the files and folders through your slipstreamed location around my case D:XP-CD. Now drag drop the selected files from the ISO1 window.
You now take over a Bootable, Slipstreamed Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD!
Last Updated: August 27, 2004
Its been a little while since Ive covered slipstreaming, or combining, a website pack into Windows link, even so the release of Windows XP Service Pack with Advanced Security Technologies hereafter generally known as SP2 warrants some discussion. Thats because XP SP2 is an important change through the original shipping version of XP, offering numerous new features and capabilities like a major new Windows version. For this reason, so many people are going to wish to install XP SP2 directly next time they install Windows, and skip the time-consuming and potentially insecure step of installing the first XP version first, and after that applying SP2 as soon as the fact.
But what, exactly, is slipstreaming, you may ask? Back when Microsoft was developing Windows 2000, this company decided to build up a elegant technique of integrating service packs along with other fixes back in to the core OS, to ensure enterprise customers could always maintain an install set with the latest version of Windows, prepared to be installed without notice on new machines. In the NT days, this procedure was convoluted at best, and service pack installs often required users to reinstall components which in fact had previously been installed. It just wasnt elegant, but Windows 2000 fixed all of that, as well as in XP the slipstreaming process is basically unchanged.
For users, slipstreaming can even be useful. For example, it is possible to copy cellular phone directory from a XP CD-ROM to the hard disk drive, slipstream the XP SP2 files into that installation directory, and than write it back to your recordable CD, providing you a bootable copy in the XP setup disk which includes SP2 right out with the box as we say. Thats the task were about to examine here. And slipstreaming isnt limited by service packs, either: You could also slipstream in several product updates, including hot-fixes. Previous to your release of SP2, I made a bootable XP CD that included an original gold version of XP, Service Pack 1a, plus the Security Rollup 1 update, all meshed together right into a single install. Now, Ive tossed that CD aside for one which includes XP SP2 instead. Lets consider how I did this.
First, you'll want to find your Windows XP CD-ROM any bootable and/or retail version; including Full and Upgrade versions; XP Home or Pro gold release and copy the contents on the CD to your harddrive. Create a folder from the root of one's C: drive called xp C:xp and make use of My Computer to merely drag and drop the files between two locations.
While it is copying, get the Full Network Install version of Windows XP Service Pack 2 272 MB, which you'll be able to download from your Microsoft Web site or copy through the Windows XP SP2 CD-ROM. The download version on this file is known as, even though the CD version is known as However, are both identical, save for that name. For this reason, I will refer on the simpler below, but you'll be able to substitute for that when needed. You may rename to if youd like. Now, develop a new folder called sp2 within the C drive C:sp2 and copy this file compared to that location.
Now, you'll want to extract the SP2 files. To accomplish that, start a command line window by navigating to Start, then Run, and typing cmd no quotes; then hit ENTER. Then, with all the following commands, navigate fot it folder and extract the files Note that the words ENTER means hit the ENTER key:
Your computer will manage to pause for the bit, and an Extracting Files dialog may come up and display the progress.
When the extraction is completed, these dialog can look. Press OK to remain.
Now, type the following within the command line window where ENTER means hit the ENTER key:
After this short pause, XP SP2 Setup will combine, or slipstream, the SP2 files to the XP install, as shown in this particular figure:
When its completed, youll see this dialog box. Click OK, after which close the command line window. If you dont see this dialog, youve done something wrong. Ensure that this command line entries youve used are correct.
Before we burn the resulting file set into a CD, we should make sure you will find there's hidden file found in your XP CD-ROM that may make your CD bootable. We cant grab this file with My Computer, and can instead make use of a shareware tool called ISOBuster, which you are able to find around the Smart Projects Web site. The latest version at the time with this writing is 1.6.
After you download and install ISOBuster, opt for only the products free functionality, if you do not decide to purchase it, which wouldnt be considered a bad idea. The ISOBuster UI will resemble the subsequent assuming youve left your XP CD inside the CD-ROM drive:
On the left-side tree view, ensure you have selected the node named Bootable CD. You should go to a file called Microsoft or similar; it is going to be named within the right side of ISOBuster. This will be the file you should extract. To achieve this, right-click and judge Extract Microsoft When ISOBuster prompts you, tend to download it on the root of the C: drive. Now it is possible to close ISOBuster.
Start My Computer making a note from the name within your Windows XP CD my CD has become named WXPVOLEN because its a volume licensed version of XP Pro, but yours might be different. Then, eject the XP CD make a burnable CD CD-R or CD-RW as part of your CD burner, and dismiss any autorun dialog boxes XP might display.
Now, youre willing to burn your own, bootable Windows XP SP2 CD. How you do that will depend around the CD writing software you employ. In this section, Ill examine Nero Burning ROM 6 and versions 5 and 6 of Roxio Easy CD/Media Creator. Please note, however, that the most recent version of Easy Media Creator, version 7, will not likely work. Im researching workarounds. If youre serious about my advice, Nero would be the way to go.
First, start Nero Burning ROM and judge CD-ROM Boot from your New Compilations Boot page. Then, under Source of boot image data, choose Image file and select C:Microsoft by clicking the Browse button. Then, find the option titled Enable expert settings for advanced users only and change Kind of emulation to No Emulation, and change Number of loaded sectors to 4. The Load segment of sectors option should stop at its default price of 07C0. When this step is finished, the Nero Burning ROM application should resemble the next:
Now, simply select the Label page in Nero Burning ROM. Under Volume label, ISO 9660 type in the name of one's CD WXPVOLEN within my case. When completed, this page in the dialog should resemble these:
Now, go through the New button. The New Compilation dialog disappears along with the main window of Nero Burning ROM can be obtained, as shown here.
On the best side on the application, within the File Browser area, navigate to C:xp. Then, select all from the files in that directory and copy them over on the new CD, as shown here:
Now youre wanting to burn the CD. Click the Burn icon inside the toolbar, or choose Recorder and Burn Compilation, and after that click the Burn button. Nero will cache the files after which write these to disc, as shown here:
Start Easy CD Creator and select File, then New Project, after which Bootable CD. This will launch the Choose Type of Bootable CD dialog, shown below. In this dialog, select No Emulation for Bootable CD Type, 0x7c0 because Load Segment it is the default choice, and 4 for that Sector Count. Then, click on the Browse button to discover the Microsoft file and utilize this as the bootable image. Click OK to seal the dialog.
When the dialog closes, youre returned to your main Easy CD Creator window, which now shows two files, and, inside root on the CD project youre making. Select File and after that CD Project Properties to file for the CD Project Properties dialog. There are three tabs within this dialog, and so they should be configured to resemble the subsequent three shots.
A several notes here: The Volume Label should match the name of one's original XP CD-ROM. In the figure above, its named WXPFPPEN, which could be the name in the retail Windows XP Professional US CD-ROM, but yours might be different. Make sure the choices in each tab on the system match the alternatives as shown in figures above, then click OK to seal the dialog.
Now, drag and drop all with the files from C:xp to your CD project. You can make this happen from within the Easy CD Creator interface, or you may open a My Computer window and drag them over beyond this concept if youd like. When youre done, the Easy CD Creator window should resemble this.
Now, click on the red Record button to begin with burning the CD. The Record CD Setup dialog appears. Click Start Recording to start with. While your CD is done, the Record CD Progress dialog look, as shown below. When its done, click OK to seal the dialog.
Start Creator Classic and judge File, then New Project, then Bootable CD. This will launch the Choose Type of Bootable CD dialog. Click the Advanced button as well as the dialog will resemble the figure shown below. In this dialog, select No Emulation for Bootable Disc Type, 0x7c0 since the Load Segment this can be the default choice, and 4 for your Sector Count. Then, click on the Browse button to find the Microsoft file and employ this as the bootable image. Click OK to seal the dialog.
When the dialog closes, youre returned for the main Creator Classic window, which now shows two files, and Microsoft, inside root on the CD project youre making. Rename Microsoft to.
Now, select File and CD Project Properties to produce the CD Project Properties dialog. There are three tabs with this dialog, and in addition they should be configured to resemble this three shots.
A several notes here: The Volume Label from the first tab should match the name of the original XP CD-ROM. In the figure above, its named WXPFPPEN, which could be the name on the retail Windows XP Professional US CD-ROM, but yours could possibly be different. Make sure the alternatives in each tab with your system match the choices as shown in figures above, then click OK to seal the dialog.
Now, drag and drop all on the files from C:xp to your CD project. You can do that from within the Creator Classic interface, or you'll be able to open a My Computer window and drag them over following that if youd like. During the copy process, you'll receive approximately three error dialogs noting that one directory names for example will need being renamed to become compatible while using naming conventions within your disc file system. The first time the truth is this dialog, click on Change All to dismiss it.
Once youre done copying the files, the Creator Classic window will resemble this.
Now, select the orange Record button to start out burning the CD. The Record Setup dialog appears. Click OK to begin with recording the CD. While your CD is made, the Burn Disc Progress dialog will show up, as shown below. When its done, click OK to seal the dialog.
Once the CD is done, it is best to test it on the non-critical system or perhaps a virtual machine for instance those employed by Microsoft Virtual PC and VMWare Workstation. Depending within the environment you decide on, the CD should either boot automatically, or maybe you will experience a note asking one to press any answer to install. Use the CD to put in Windows XP with SP2 to make certain its working correctly. Most important, perhaps, ensure which the version of XP youve installed is SP2. To accomplish that, head over to Start, then Run, and type winver no quotes striking ENTER. The SP2 version number is 5.1 Build sp2rtm.040803-2158: Service Pack 2.
When youre done testing, you must consider burning the newly created CD, and deleting the cruft youve included in your hard disk, specifically C:Microsoft, plus the directories C:xp and C:sp2.
One thing to include - youll need to become logged together with certain admin privileges running update - s:c:xp - else the update command silently failsdoes nothing.
Having a difficulty. Im while using AMD64 version of XP/Pro so Ive followed your instructions except used the amd64 directory rather than i386. I also am running XP to be a virtual machine with a Linux system and I cant find my old Nero key to develop a new image file.
Instead Ive attempted to burn the newest image using k3b on Linux. The instructions work about exactly the same way even so the CD boot cant find NTLDR.
I do observe that I can understand the boot folder within the new disc, and not on the main disc that I copied the older XP files from.
Do you've got any applying for grants what is going wrong? The boot is practically working since disc is known as bootable and it will seem to get so far as identifying it needs NTLDR.
OK. Found a Windows program called nlite that burns the style properly. nlite also allows you to feature additional drivers in your Windows install disc.
Like many, I was hoping to view a new Lumia flagship prior to a end of 2014, although I was impressed in some ways by both Lumia 735 and 830, neither supplies the level of performance or best-in-market camera quality I had arrive at expected from Microsoft/Nokias high-end devices. So I pulled the trigger by using an unlocked Windows Phone flagship which will hopefully take me through no less than the first half on this year. From some sources I hear you are going to need a Windows XP Home or Professional with SP2 Setup CD. You cannot slipstream SP3 into an authentic Windows XP CD or even an XP with SP1 CD. Slipstreaming SP3 is only going to work by having an XP SP2 CD. Others have suggested that slipstreaming through an SP1 integrated CD works. Here is what I found:
Windows XP Gold : Slipstreaming SP3 perceived to work until it came towards the point I had to activate Windows XP. It would not activate XP over the Internet may also not update with the phone with all the automated system. I didnt speak to some live person about this though. Without activating I couldnt use Windows Update.
Windows XP SP2 : Slipstreaming SP3 worked fine. I also might skip putting within the product key during installation which had been not an option together with the XP gold slipstreamed version. I had to activate to work with Windows Update - which worked and not using a problem while using Internet activation - I didnt get any errors on Windows Update, and updates were provided.

It remains to be usable today, and yes it can be equally secure being a newer OS whether it is configured properly.
It can be a fun os.
Nothing which might be thought of.
Thank you Jesus Christ! This operating-system has been with me a quick while yet it's very enjoyable. Throughout my brief years for the computer being a new user it happens to be impressive. Just the prefer. Even the preview of Microsoft Windows 8 isn't going to compare to Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2.
So far Windows XP is in no way the slowest OS Ive ever dealt with. Not really worth buy in any way.
Windows XP just isn't a good OS, given it keeps crashing for pointless and its so slow, even if you could have 1-2GB of memory. If you might have XP, I suggest that you upgrade to Vista SP1 or 7 now.
Reply by whatsyourpoint on June 18, 2012
Yikes! Whatever you choose to do, dont use Vista period! 7 is a great one though.
Reply by spacetimezi on February 6, 2012
Yes XP will not be perfect but hardly slow compared towards the bloated and rushed VISTA. If you execute a clean install with XP plus your computer is slow then it's your hardware or you've got the wrong drivers installed. This will not be XPs fault.
The alternative is to buy a fresh computer with 7. You can get a brand new one to get a couple hundred in case you need a great computer for tech then you are able to build your own to get a few hundred too. Im sure you can find techs as part of your town that can assist you. Either way the rule of thumb is XP for old computers, and 7 achievable ones. And if you cant stand XP i really enjoy seeing then switch the signal from linux. Its free and a lot more secure.
Very, excellent Windows program
Easy to face problems, simple to navigate. Holds more than enough. Tells when there is a challenge and fixes it easily. Fast 85% on the time. Good household computer, tells every time a program may harm your personal machine, and asks if you would like to perform it.
Lags sometimes ANNOYING, may be slow 35% from the time. When multiple tabs windows are running simultaneously, every one of the programs immediately become unresponsive. When programs become unresponsive, pain inside the neck to close the program down.
Overall, I have had this computer ALL MY LIFE, and it also still works like brand-new. This computer can be an old but trusted friend, and when you wish to pick out a fresh program, go along with this. You wont regret it!:
if your Microsoft ME os wont work anymore, purchase a upgrade package off ebay that converts your o/s to XP home. Yes, it really works OK and enables you to keep your current computer more years. as Microsoft will support XP thru 2013
no choice but to convert to xp from ME. XP home works just great and all my old software works well on it. No support for ME which was very successful for me for a decade. Time to progress to XP and keep software current.
XP is likely to go down as Microsofts best main system ever. After service pack 2 and 3, they finally have it working! Why reinvent the wheel? Im happy and hang up for no less than 2 or 3 years thanks to your 50 upgrade pkg purchased off ebay

Three and also a half years after my previous Windows XP slipstreaming guide for XP Service Pack 2, or SP2, were again with what I assume is going to be my last XP slipstreaming guide, these times covering Windows XP Service Pack 3 SP3. I first covered slipstreaming for the SuperSite almost seven in years past, for Windows 2000, the primary Windows version to compliment this functionality. Not surprisingly, this process hasnt changed much and also the end result continues to be a version on the current Windows Setup CD thats been integrated with the most up-to-date updates. Microsoft promises a far more elegant way of slipstreaming with Windows Vista, but thats been pushed time for Vista SP2, so for your foreseeable future, were still while using old but reliable method documented here.
As a shorter refresher, slipstreaming was originally made to help Microsofts corporate customers integrate the modern updates in their network-based OS install images to ensure they wouldnt must waste time deploying an OS image to multiple PCs simply to later need to wait around while enormous quantities of updates were installed. With slipstreaming, you'll be able to keep an OS image reasonably up-to-date and post-install updates into a minimum. And for whatever its worth, Microsoft uses this procedure to create updated integrated installation media of the own when a Windows service pack is released.
Of course, what Im documenting here are going to be of interest primarily to people and, perhaps, small companies that dont have use of Microsofts volume licensing programs whereby they'd receive up-to-date install media upon an ongoing basis. And as whoever has installed Windows XP with Service Pack 2 SP2 from the last couple of years can tell you, theres nothing can beat the monotony of installing the OS then having to set up 100 more updates over multiple reboots. Its merely right.
But integrating your Windows XP with SP2 Setup disc with SP3 is likely to make everything OK, at least the next occasion you do a brand new OS install. And rather then 100 updates to setup after the OS install, youll have a handful. Though that number will obviously continue to get higher over time.
Disclaimer: While I will endeavour and help readers who encounter problems integrating XP with SP3, understand you proceed your own risk. Be likely to fully backup everything with your system before wiping out and reinstalling, whether through an integrated XP SP3 disc or otherwise not. Understand that you are going to need to follow Microsofts production activation requirements knowning that these technologies could require that you activate XP by telephone after an OS reinstall. Be prepared to go back on your previous XP Setup CD if things dont workout. If you enter this with the proper frame of mind, the for the worst situation scenario is that you simply have to set up a fresh copy of XP with SP2 then immediately install SP3 afterwards. Thats not too horrible.
This time around, Im only providing one number of instructions, involving only freely available tools you'll be able to readily find online. Heres what you should make it work.
A Windows XP Home or Professional with SP2 Setup CD. Its possible that a genuine XP Setup CD or perhaps an XP with SP1 Setup CD work, but Ive only tested XP with SP2, both retail and volume license versions on the CD. You may have luck with OEM CDs from PC makers at the same time, depending how much the organization changed the disc layout. Full or Upgrade CDs work perfectly. Previously splipstreamed discs are fine also. But Ive only tested this with versions of XP including just a single Setup CD: Media Center and Tablet PC users are in a hopeless situation.
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Standalone Updater. This 316 MB file is currently available through the Microsoft Web site.
Other downloads. You may desire to be prepared with a few other installation files, perhaps over a USB key or burned CD. These files might include drivers particular in your hardware especially a network driver so it is possible to get online along with the application updates mentioned in Step 6 below.
Be guaranteed to download the XP SP3 standalone installer and download and install ISO Buster and ImgBurn before proceeding.
Important note for Vista users: You can perform these stages in either Windows XP or Windows Vista, final decision. Ive completed it both ways, though the screen shots here show XP because, well, that is an XP-based process and many types of. But either OS works fine, with one caveat: For some reason, tries to slipstreaming volume license versions of Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 under Windows Vista is not going to work, producing a condition where Product Activiation won't recognize a real Product Key. To overcome this concern, be sure to own Step 3 with admin privileges, as described because step. If that doesnt work, simply employ XP for your slipstream.
Open your My Computer in Vista, Computer window and navigate to Tools then Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialog, navigate on the View tab and pick the option titled Show hidden files and folders. Then, uncheck the choice titled Hide protected main system files Recommended. Dispense while using Warning dialog that appears. Click OK to seal the Folder Options dialog.
Insert your Windows XP with SP2 Setup CD within the optical drive of one's PC and close any auto-run window that appears. In My Computer or Computer, right-go through the optical drive and select Open. Leave your window open that has a view from the contents on the Windows XP Setup CD.
Open My Computer again. This time, navigate towards the root on the C: drive as well as other location to which youd love to save the files youll eventually integrate with SP3. Create a folder named xp such as C:xp. Then, develop a second folder named sp3 like C:sp3.
Now, drag and drop the contents on the XP Setup CD in the C:xp folder.
Now, you have to extract the SP3 files. While the files are copying involving the two locations, copy the Windows XP SP3 standalone installer typically within the US to C:sp3. Then, open a command line window Start, Run, cmd in Windows XP; in Vista, just open the Start Menu and type cmd in Start Menu Search.
Then, while using the following commands exactly, navigate to C:sp3 and extract the files Note that the written text ENTER means hit the ENTER key:
An Extracting Files dialog should come up and display the progress.
When the extraction is completed, the next dialog look. Press OK to keep.
Inside C:sp3, youll view a new folder called i386 which contains the extracted files.
Now, type the following inside command line window where ENTER means hit the ENTER key:
Warning: If you are seeking to slipstream a volume license version of Windows XP Professional from Windows Vista, the preceding steps need to perform as an administrator. To achieve this, right-click within the desktop and judge New then Shortcut. In the Create Shortcut dialog, paste inside following bolded text: - s:c:xp/strong
Then, click Next, provide the Shortcut a reputation, and click on Finish. Run the shortcut by right-clicking it deciding on Run as administrator. Then proceed normally. Thanks to John Straffin for your tip.
The Software Installation Wizard will show up and integrate the SP3 files in to the XP with SP2 install files.
When the integration is complete, youll see these dialog. Click OK to carry on.
Close the command line window. Type exit after which tap Enter.
Before you are able to burn the integrated files to CD, you might have to extract a low profile file found on your own XP Setup CD; this file is needed to help make a new CD bootable. To accomplish that, you should use a disc image extractor for example ISOBuster.
With the XP with SP2 Setup CD still inside the optical drive, run ISO Buster and select Free func. only in the Registration dialog. You should see something such as this:
In the left-side tree view, select Bootable Disc. When one does so, the proper side will vary and display just a number of files. One will probably be named Microsoft Figure or similar; it is going to be named : This will be the file you'll want to extract. To accomplish that, right-click and select Extract Microsoft Figure. When ISOBuster prompts you, opt to download it to your C:sp3 folder.
Now it's once again time to make the bootable XP with SP3 Setup CD. Start Nero Burning ROM and click on OK from the Welcome dialog that explains youre by using a Trial Version. Burning ROM will start having a New Compilation window open. Select CD-ROM Boot in the left side.
Then, from the source section, make certain Image file is selected after which click the Browse button. Navigate to C:sp3 and drop down this list box thats currently set to Boot-Image-Files IMA and select All Files. The select Microsoft and then click OK.
Then, from the Advanced section from the New Compilation window, ensure that Enable expert settings for advanced users only! is selected and select No Emulation as Kind of Emulation.
Ensure that 07C0 would be the value under Load segment of sectors hex!. Which it is actually by default.
Change the Number of loaded sectors value from 1 to 4.
When the options with this dialog are configured correctly, it will resemble this:
Click the New button to seal the New Compilation window. The normal Burning ROM UI can look with a blank compilation for the left and also a tree view of your respective PCs file system about the right.
Using the File Browser tab within the right side, navigate to C:xp. Then, drag the entire valuables in this folder over on the left side from the window. This should take only a number of seconds.
Now, taking note in the name with the Windows XP with SP2 Setup CD in Burning ROMs File Browser, rename your CD compilation accordingly. For example, if your name in the disc is WXPVOLEN, use that. Yours can be different, but Ive also learned that this step is basically optional; names like WINXPSP3 seem to work fine likewise.
Remove your XP Setup CD then click the Burn button inside Burning ROM toolbar. The Burn Compilation window can look, as shown below. Check the choice titled Finalize disc No further writing possible! and click Burn. Burning ROM will prompt one to insert a blank disc. Any CD-R or CD-RW will work.
Once the CD ends, you need to test it. If you would like to extra PC to throw advertising, thats the best option. Otherwise, try inatallation in a virtual machine with Virtual PC first: Virtual PC is provided for free and provides a fantastic environment for testing. You shouldnt erase your only PC until youre sure the brand new disc is likely to work.
Do not enter your products or services key during Setup: Ive have been told by readers and possess read separately online that there is a difficulty in some instances where Setup is not going to accept a legitimate Windows XP Product Key by using an integrated XP with SP3 install. For this reason, you ought to choose not to type in the Product Key until after XP is installed. Obviously, I cant test every possible permutation, but I have successful activated XP integrated with SP3 by myself systems repeatedly in this particular fashion.
After youve installed your integrated version of Windows XP with Service Pack 3 SP3, youre about to want to immediately visit Windows Update, upgrade to Microsoft Update, and after that install whatever critical updates can be purchased. While thats happening, or after its completed and youve rebooted when needed, you will need to download some other crucial tools. Some obvious candidates include Windows Defender anti-spyware, AVG Free 8.0 as well as other anti-virus solution, Internet Explorer 7, and Windows Media Player 11 that might show up on Windows/Microsoft Update.
When youre done testing, you need to consider copying the newly created CD, and deleting the cruft youve combined with your hard disk drive, specifically the directories C:xp and C:sp3.
Windows XP Service Pack 3 should indeed be the end associated with an era, and therefore Im not longer supporting this informative article. Good luck, and happy slipstreaming!
Thanks for helpful article, however although you might have suggested for getting image burn you seem to have given instructions a variety of software; Nero Burning ROM.
Thanks to the instructive description. However, I second Mikes remark about Imgburn, which I would prefer to Nero.
Paul, you see a trouble of explaining that enter stands for your Enter Key, but no word products you you will mean by: and. I am confused what they mean!
I too had trouble together with the extraction and integration commands until I realized which the left and right carets and text they enclose really should not be typed they appear to be html tags.
Also having issues with Nero 12 and want to try ImgBurn instead; shame because Pauls Nero instructions are really explicit.
Just successfully burnt my disc using ImgBurn that claims to have the ability to extract the boot image file and has now a useful Guide on the whole process. I actually used IsoBuster to do the extraction an early on version as this great-sounding program is apparently now paid-for only.
Like many, I was hoping to go to a new Lumia flagship prior to the end of 2014, although I was amazed in some ways by their Lumia 735 and 830, neither provides the level of performance or best-in-market camera quality I had visit expected from Microsoft/Nokias high-end devices. So I pulled the trigger with an unlocked Windows Phone flagship that could hopefully take me through at the very least the first half on this year. Or until Microsoft gets off its low-end fixation and satisfies the requirements its biggest More
