This is usually a rip-off for many. My older laptop with Windows 7 do not have an built-in extract/zip tool, therefore the Microsoft support said I needed an unofficial tool like WinZip. I downloaded to try for the measly 15 days to determine none of the specs were testable, although I wouldnt operate them. Then they want 38 then 8 annually after. The extra tools are of no value in my experience and occupy space. Free/cheap plus much more user friendly zip programs are readily available, so skip the trial. Installing Winzip will infect your machine that has a multitude of malware. Eset NOD32 detected 12 malware programs which in fact had to be removed. AVOID.

Winzip 19.5 caused my pc the windows explorer error loop.
I have owned Winzip around 20 years. It has been a helpful tool to keep and backup files.
The current version is boated 249 MB installed.
Default view doesnt show the folder tree. Neither does classic view.
Selecting multiples folder with Shiftmouse click dont work anymore. Selecting that has a mouse is needed, while using risk of inadvertedly moving files.
A trivial function like pausing the unzip process will not be there.
If there is a problem file path too much time, the unzip stops and waits for user action. At the end a log file is usually opened. Try to find the issue within a huge number of successful unzips.
The proprietary zipx-format just isn't supported by a few more tools. This means that a kind of vendor freeze is created that is never good.
I guess the existing editors rating is spectacular with the integration with cloud etc.
But i you dont require this, Winzip is really a mediocre overpriced utility with basic functionality failing.

Ive used WinZip for 19 years. Im a solo software developer. Winzip has become a critical tool. Its my version control and backup system. Yeah, Ive tried formal version control software along with other backup tools, but Winzip hasn't ever let me down. I happily purchased it for even when money was tight. Every update was improvement that made my entire life better. When they add scheduled jobs, I thought Id died and visited heaven. Even when they traveled to the evil MS Ribbon interface, they resulted in a classic view that permit me to continue to utilize the features with techniques that I find a lot more efficient. Winzip isnt software that should look pretty; it needs to get useful. Pretty besides practical is okay. Pretty as opposed to practical is disappointing. Recent updates have increasingly hidden critical features. Version 19 as done away using a real classic view altogether. Ive experimented with adapt to it, but 'm going to downgrade and cancel my subscription. The straw that broke the camels back? A nearly impossible-to-find feature to decide on certain files inside an archive. So, pretty, but there is however nothing inside current version-19, IIRC-that I dont already manage easier myself, for instance integrating my cloud back services.
Great product, but they also need to explain how it only works in case you run it in Safe Mode. Then it removes all of the offending adware beautifully. If not in Safe Mode, you may as well forget does some marginal improvement. After your pc is clean, it must do a good job of preventing new malware ll tell you.

Ordered and covered 18.5 Pro with upgrade assurance. Tried to upgrade to 19 Pro, WinZip will not honor my purchased upgrade assurance. They have not answered any of my follow on e-mails with purchase receipt information. Interesting enough, if previous version registration facts are requested online, I get limited to WinZip Courier 6.0 that was purchased previously. No registration info was ship to registered versions and then.

I analyzed the 18.5 deal on the winzip site, that Upgrade Assurance - 12 Months at 8 is surely an automatic 8 charge EVERY YEAR,,, reprogram your debit card like I do every a few months and you will not obtain a bite within the rear,,,,

I bought winzip 18.5 with a reduced price 2-3 weeks ago, 11 14 14, I could not download because at the many goog links I tried, it had been only set to load new 19. I emailed winzip ans these folks were very good about helping, but even they kept sending me links for 19. Finally I almost lost the fight I explained my purchase was for that 18. 5 version, they sent the best link and yes it worked out fine. I have to repeat the email replys were fast and extremely helpfull, however mindset is for the modern 19 version,,, dont stop trying,,,,,
