Yes XP just isn't perfect but hardly slow in comparison to the bloated and rushed VISTA. If you carry out a clean install with XP plus your computer remains slow it is your hardware or perhaps you have the wrong drivers installed. This isn't XPs fault.
The alternative is to buy a brand new computer with 7. You can get a whole new one for several hundred in case you need a great computer for tech then you can certainly build your own for some hundred likewise. Im sure you will find techs where you live that might help you. Either way the rule of thumb is XP for old computers, and 7 for brand spanking new ones. And if you absolutely do cant stand XP for reasons unknown then change to linux. Its free and a lot more secure.
