Your problem is merely different from Lukes. If you might have 2 computers you would like 2 copies of windows2 product keys.
The one who you entered can be a product ID which can be found with your computers sytem properties. and it will not be the product key. Product ID contains only
numbers and produckt key's alpha numeric.
The message disappeared because whenever you connected your personal computer to Internet, your copy of windows was automatically activated.

I purchased a copy of Windows7 from Costco on Dec 2009 for upgrading 3 computers from Windows XP, I have installed windows 7 for a few computers for two main months. Now 02/24/10 in this little desktop, I get exactly the same message of Windows 7, Build 7600, This copy of Windows is just not genuine. I retyped the merchandise key frequently when asked. Definitely, its something wrong with Microsoft or Costco.

k30, Did you choose the Family Pack or one copy? If you bought 1 copy you a lot use it on 1 computer only. That is why you could be having problems.
I just experienced a similar downside to Windows 7. I obtained a legal copy in the OS on your day it was on the market to the public, then the outlet installed it on my own Dell laptop to me. All the time because it has worked flawlessly. Today, I installed a whole new Intel chipset driver available about the Windows Update website. After the reboot, I received a similar message you did- This copy of Windows will not be genuine. Rather than play around with how to repair this error, I used the Windows rollback feature to reverse towards the previous driver and for the restore pont created if the download began. Now the mistake message fully gone and laptop computer works fine. Hope this can help.

Ahh I see whatever you mean there, and I view the rollback feature, however my security prevents me by using that while thank you to your answer and experience, in case there is often a moderator looking over this message i do think this thread really should be locked, the perfect solution has long been answered. We bought a different HP laptop with Win 7 Pro 64 bit preinstalled in July 2013 from the reputable I think online dealer. I installed the free version of Avast and initially all was well, and bootup time was very swift. After about monthly or 2, I was prompted to update Avast, which I did. Immediately 2 problems cropped up. First, bootup time became very painfully slow sometimes approximately 5 minutes or even more before your computer is fully operational. Once that it was booted up, this didn't seem particularly slow anymore. Second, we started to get your message in the lower right that copy of Windows isn't genuine build 7601. This message can be seen only occasionally many of the time it does NOT appear, and it won't seem to have any noticeable effect unless it truly is related for the slow bootup time. The screen shows our normal wallpaper. Reading somewhere that Avast might have caused the slow bootup time, I uninstalled Avast and instead installed the free version of AVG, which I still use. But both problems persist slow bootup and occasional windows not genuine message. I believe my copy of Windows is reputable, but interestingly, the pc does not possess a COA sticker, no less than no that I can find. We also do not possess Win 7 disk from MS only from HP. I strongly suspect that Avast caused the condition, but I have no idea how to repair it. Below would be the MGADiag report.

Your symptoms are normal of a race condition - more than likely caused by the conflict regarding the AV along with software.
I indicates uninstalling Avast completely, and running their cleanup tool.
What other AVs are already installed whether or not not activated? - most includes a free trial install of either Norton or McAfee, so its worth running the removal tools for both.
Click Save, and save the file to your folder in your computer.
Navigate for the folder in places you saved the file.
right-simply click and select Run as Administrator running the removal tool.
Close all the programs, then run the tool. When its complete, reboot the device whether it asks for this or not.
After the reboot, open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the next command
Youll be advised to reboot - achieve this.
Now uninstall Avast - with all the normal Control Panel uninstaller.
Follow the instructions for running it, and once complete, reboot the appliance.
Allow it to be in down for ten minutes or so, then reboot again and reinstall Avast rrmprove it.

I already had uninstalled Avast and installed AVG instead almost a year ago. I followed your steps otherwise, and in addition uninstalled AVG. I tried the Avast cleaner anyway, however it asked for your location where Avast files were stored, however the Avast folder already was gone from my earlier uninstall awhile ago. So Im not confident that the Avast cleaner actually did anything.
But, wonderful AV software uninstalled I thought, bootup seemed slightly faster. I reinstalled Avast, and immediately things got MUCH worse. First a window put their hands up telling me that there were 2 AVs installed I guess MSE was another? Also, bootup times got VERY long, approximately 10 minutes usually longer prior to desktop icons even appeared. And then exploring an icon ahead of the bootup was complete seemingly led to punishment as it did actually take even longer to start!
Tonight the Windows not genuine message arrived again. I ran the NETSH WINSOCK RESET command again and uninstalled Avast. Now I have only MSE for AV software I think, as well as the desktop icons appear quickly upon booting. Unfortunately, nevertheless takes quite awhile 5-10 mins before simply clicking on one on the icons and the start button actually does anything.
I can keep monitoring and report a few weeks how bootup will go, and if the not genuine maessage reappears.

AVG could also leave stuff behind. - and also the residuals from any AV can interfere with all the proper installation of any later one.
If you didnt already do it, run the Avast cleanup tool again, then run the 2012 and 2014 versions in the AVG
Follow the instructions for running it, after which reboot the equipment whether it asks correctly or not, and regardless of if the program rebooted already or you cannot.
Then uninstall MSE, reboot, and reinstall it - this will get rid of any residual corruption brought on by possible left-overs.

I did run the 2014 version of AVG remover, however, not the 2012 version. Ill accomplish that this weekend. But before I ran the 2014 version, I first uninstalled AVG on the control panel. Running the remover then led to some error messages I guess it tried to eliminate files it could will no longer find.
First, if I uninstall MSE on the control panel, does it leave residual?
Second, will you recommend reinstalling MSE again, or other sorts of AV? I understand that MSE is lightweight as compared to some other free AVs like Avast or AVG. I liked Avast when I first installed it a few months ago, but am wary since it might be an essential resource hog the setup file is 80 mb.
Third, the Avast cleanup tool demanded a location the location where the relevant files are placed. But the folder called Avast is gone in the event the program is uninstalled in the control panel. What do I specify as the placement? I did run the tool again yesterday evening and just invest Program Files/Avast even the folder Avast lo longer existed or wasn't visible?. The cleanup tool warned that files inside specified folder can be irretrievable deleted. Upon execution, it flashed an email about deleting something. But I am uncertain whether or not this actually did anything.

MSE features a very light touch, and uninstalls cleaner than almost all in the others even with running a selection of their removal tools, in some instances.
MSEs setup file is merely about 10MB - even so the definitions and engine download which starts its use is about 70MB last I looked. Nothing nowadays is going for being much smaller, simply because on the complexity of the items its fighting.

Hi, my desktop is a lot of issues and something of them is getting your message thats within the title of the thread.
As a quick background, the motherboard gave the impression to stop working so I was required to get it fixed, and from the process of getting my PC to operate again, I had to execute a clean install of Windows 7 total of four times including failed ones.
