I think it turned out actually a faulty memory that I had installed. Since detaching the new 1G that I had installed, I havent had the condition. I bought a fresh 1 gig memory card in the Apple Store a couple weeks ago furthermore, as I installed it everything continues to be running smoothly. I have to feel that was the condition.

Ive been using Fusion 2 since it turned out released. I run Leopard on the 24 Silver iMac with 4 GB of RAM along with a 2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. Ive designed a Windows Vista Enterprise VM with 2 GB of RAM. I gave my Windows VM an avid IP on our network, prestaged it in Active Directory, and might net-boot it in to a Microsoft WDS server to image it this is usually a feature that DOES NOT work out-of-the-box on VMware Workstation for Windows. While the VM is running, the Mac appears to own as it did with no VM running-but I must admit Im not using processor-intensive applications. The Windows side is more sluggish when compared to a non-virtualized system, but works okay.
My Mac is usually joined to AD and is also syncing my house directory via Home Sync having a Windows File server. Ive set the My Documents folder in Vista to point towards the same file server location as home sync. So far 2.0 spent some time working well. Ubuntu and CentOS made the changeover and not using a hitch. Ive had Fusion on my own Mac 10.5.5 for over 3 months and possess just upgraded from version 1.1.2 to version 2.0. I am running Windows Vista Home Basic and merely have it for just one bank website which is not offered to Mac users, otherwise I wouldnt require it. It was temperamental with Fusion 1.1.2 and in many cases worse with version 2.0. I can sometimes mention my homepage, but immediately after, the dreaded blue screen appears. This is so frustrating and the like a waste of time.

Im a member in the Apple Developer Connection and use a legal copy on the developer preview of Snow Leopard Server 10.6 Build 10a222. I cant do the installation in either Parallels Desktop 4 or VMware Fusion 3 using a new MacBook Pro 4 GB RAM. Both companies say they secure the preview 10.6 server inside a virtual machine.
I tried with all the DMG image, a CDR image, and converting to a ISO image as recommended at some internet websites. I also tried installing the image on the DVDR DL. With both Parallels and VMware, cellular phone stops.
Then I installed Leopard Server in Parallels, and experimented with upgrade together with the Snow Leopard Server. The DVD mounts, I can launch the installer. The Leopard reboots, but rather then rebooting on the DVD, it simply comes back towards the Leopard Server signon screen.
Im outside of ideas and cant find any help around the web.
We dont want someone to violate your NDA agreement by telling us anything about Mac OS X 10.6 Server that Apple hasnt announced. But if youve successfully installed the Snow Leopard Server preview either in Parallels or VMware how.

I booted my unibody MacBook Pro into 64 bit mode. VMware 2.0.5 wont load, it says it can be 32 bit only. Over all I am impressed with 64 bit. VMware was the only real app that that I have learned that worked in 32 yet not 64. The apps that needed Rosetta in 32 bit work just like well in 64 bit with Rosetta. My printers both networked still worked. VMware 2.0.5 still works if I boot into standard mode. But wont start when I boot in 64 bit mode.
Tasso Papaelias reports that VMware Fusion runs incredibly slow on Snow Leopard. This is together with the latest update.

VMware Fusion 2.0.5 is NOT compatible together with the optional 64-bit kernel of Snow Leopard and Snow Leopard Server.
VMware Fusion 2.0.5 is that will work with Snow Leopard running in 32-bits.

VMWARE FUSION 3.0 REPORTS
Unlike some readers, Mark Kennedy got Windows 7 running in Boot Camp over a new iMac, but prefers VMware Fusion 3.0:
I installed Windows 7 on Boot Camp with a new iMac. It works fine but theres not any driver support so Magic Mouse wont work. I then installed Fusion 3.0, which recognized my BC partition. Unfortunately, Microsoft Office needed new activation codes even running on the very same machine, same OS, same partition. Its fast and fully functional for some uses. Cant start to see the advantage of Boot Camp if you don't want to play games and may wait to the drivers this DEC.

Chris Heuer likes the way in which Windows 7 works in VMware Fusion 3, but is having issues with bringing in Windows XP using the Migration Assistant:
I am wondering if anybody else has gotten this migration assistant to function properly - from the forums I only see people complaining about this not working. I produce an old Windows XP PC I would definitely replace using a Dell, but it had been such annoying to deal with and yes it wasnt appropriate for my cam corder, that I returned the Dell and bought an iMac. I have used both for several years, but wanted some cost savings using the Dell on the iMac.
Anyway, installed my copy of VMware Fusion 3 from my upgrade license and could easily get Windows 7 installed, and usually speaking it truely does work great.
So I was looking to advance my XP system over and possess spent hours trying to understand it to work and also the system just doesnt even appear to be it really wants to talk towards the old PC though I do know these are connected. I followed the many instructions, popped both systems, connected them via Ethernet for direct transfer and avoid any conflicts from the router and it also just wont work.
I also have the exact frequent problem as Chris Heuer. Cannot get Migration Assistant to speak to my PC. Tried everything Chris did and much more.

I have has this same trouble with the migration issue in Fusion 3. The work around were to connect the PC straight to the Mac via Ethernet and configure static IP Address. At that point the migration worked perfectly.
Mark Coplowe is seeing the condition moving a Windows installation at a real PC to your virtual machine using VMware Fusion 3s Migration Assistant. His symptoms are somewhat better than what weve previously reported:
I have experienced a similar problem migrating an XP SP3 and every one of the latest patches. The iMac sees the PC and may detect/acknowledges the code etc. When it truly is going through the technique of determining any time to create the virtual PC it will come up using a message: Error in creating Virtual Machine. System preferences Security Firewall. Disable firewall when migrating your PC.
The firewalls for the Mac along with the PC have been disabled. Having tried numerous options including allowing share guest folders and disabling all anti virus and pc firewall, I am still none the wiser.
The trick I learned for migrating a PC instance to your VM on Fusion is: Setup static IP addresses on both machines on his or her twisted-pair interface cable from the same network, using the same subnet mask. Confirm you'll be able to ping from one towards the other, and the other way round. The Mac will get the PC, as long because VM Migration Agent is running within the PC. Also, I learned I was required to remove any CF or SD cards that are within the memory booster mode within Vista - VM Fusion offers you a general error so it doesnt support VSS once the imaging process begins.

Ive been a happy Fusion 2 users, I used it having a Win Vista Boot Camp partition along with XP vms. Performance was very quickly.
Recently I decided to clear out my Vista Boot Camp partition and put it back with Windows 7 64-bit. When booting In Windows 7, it truely does work fast and great. I installed all Boot Camp 3.0 drivers and didnt have problems.
After upgrading to Fusion 3, I tried running the Windows 7 Boot Camp partition as being a virtual machine but I was shocked because of the terrible performance. For me, currently, its not usuable, much too slow.
My configuration: Macbook Pro 4.1 with 4GB RAM, Snow Leopard with latest updates; Windows 7 66-bit with latest MS updates, and latest Boot Camp 3.0 drivers.

Setting the quantity of CPUs to 2 in my MacBook Pro, when you suggested, definitely helped.
Also I disabled the 3D Graphics hardware acceleration. I am writing web services code, not doing offers, so I didn't need that.
I also found that how the XP system hasten slowly after booting the VM. After 15-30 minutes it seemed faster. Perhaps the VM host was tuning the thread priorities or optimizing something inside the VM.
Shutting down as much Mac apps as is possible also helps the VM performance.
When I combine these I can actually use XP about the latest VMWare on Snow Leopard. I was worried I would have to modify to Boot Camp. But this works OK now.
The combined Windows 7 on Mac Pro with VMware Fusion 3.0 is slow and possesses terrible display performance with two screens. I have Snow Leopard rrmprove everything whenever prompted. The same Fusion program works fine with Windows XP, so I suspect a person, display setting, or something similar but I cant find a remedy. Apple, Microsoft, and VMWare all suspect the others because problem.
I had 2 MB or memory assigned. Reduced to just one MB. Already had 2 CPUs; didnt think I should select all four. Change with display was slower and worse, while not a significant change. When closing, it almost vapor locked.

I also have seen VMWARE get really slow, but only after coming outside of suspend mode. When you do, I just restart the Virtual Machine and speed is restored.
Responding to Aaron Greens tip of January 14: I also used to have very slow virtual machine performance with Windows VMs either Vista or Win 7 and Snow Leopard whenever I would resume the VM. Restarting the VM solved those problems. But after I upgraded my MacBook to six GB the maximum amount it may support, I rarely go through the slow performance that has a suspended/resumed VM.
On January 7, we noted that the RAM allocation which is too high can slow a virtual machine, and this assigning two CPUs to some VM can increase performance.

First off, thanks with the webpage. Ive been continually frustrated with all the poor performance Ive had with Windows XP on VMware 2 and then with all the upgrade to three. I did the next three things but tried all at once, so not sure whether it was all 3 in combo or maybe one specifically and yes it helped tremendously.
Reduced the RAM from 768 to 512 mb.
I may play with all the RAM again, to ascertain if I can get yourself a bit more umph out on the windows install for now my computer feels usable again when utilizing windows on VMware! Awesome!
Jim Lockwood is seeing the challenge of Windows 7 not loading on iMacs. This is really a known bug, therefore we have reported workarounds here and here. However, Lockwood can also be seeing this in VMware Fusion:

Michael Antolovich in Australia found a solution into a problem where Windows 7 wont boot in VMware Fusion 3.0.1 coming from a Boot Camp 3 partition. He said the issue only happens on his iMac:
I use a 24 iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.2, VMware Fusion 3.0.1 and Windows 7. Win 7 runs happily when booted from using it, but complains which it must be repaired when running under Fusion 3.0.1. Repairing doesnt help, obviously: A patch is preventing the computer from starting, nevertheless it wont say what patch. It still runs OK when booted completely from it.

I found the perfect solution! I downloaded and installed a driver from your Intel support page. The driver could be the, which may be downloaded with this link. After inatallation, make sure to reboot the virtual device, also it should work fine.
Meanwhile, a volume of other readers reported also having the challenge. Jay had luck while using Bridge setting:

Brian Bargiel forwarded a link into a VMware support article that gives a fix for any networking condition in VMware Fusion. When upgrading to VMware Fusion 2 to version 3, or when upgrading Windows XP to some later version of Windows, networking in Fusion may go wrong. VMware says that in the cases it is often a problem using the virtual network adapter. The companys option would be to install a different one.
The procedure this article details would be to first reprogram your virtual machine type if youve updated Windows from XP. Next, Uninstall and re-install VMware Tools. Finally, remove and re-add the virtual network adapter.
I had this concern after upgrading my Boot Camp partition from XP to Win 7. This article taught me to be troubleshoot my broken network connection; possibly the procedure could possibly be helpful for readers.
I had this concern too but VMware Fusion 3, Windows 7 on Leopard. Turned out it had been my Norton firewall on Mac that has been blocking it because once I disabled it and reset the adapter everything worked. Norton has to be blocking an issue that VMware needs and I just havent found what yet.

Michael Durket features a problem of Snow Leopard Server crashing when running in a very virtual machine in VMware Fusion 3 on the Mac OS X 10.6 host. He found a workaround, which can be to assign only just one CPU towards the virtual machine:

Ordinarily, they load automatically if your Mac starts up, which could slow begin, whether youre using VMware or otherwise. Last week we described how you can load them and unload them manually, only once you use VMward. Pellegrini makes this easier:
A follow-around Tip on the day: Manually load VMware kernel extensions, speed boot time. I saw this post and think it is helpful but planned to offer you a change I implemented. Instead of creating two separate scripts to start out and stop Fusion, I used Automator as described to generate just one workflow using the following code in a single shell script:
In that way the service is started, then Fusion operates and Automator waits correctly to close. Once Fusion is closed the support are stopped automatically.

Same here with my Windows images XP and Windows 7. I seen that I can sometimes connect to some remote host via VPN, though the connection wasn't stable. I uninstalled 3.1.3 and installed 3.1.1 coming from a saved image - all things are fine now. Good to understand that others have that problem at the same time. Looks such as upgrade is buggy.
I have a similar problem; I use one bridged network for the development LAN along with the second bridged to Air network, that's connected to Internet. I can work without problem from the inside of my virtual machine using the development LAN wired, but I cannot connect to your Internet. I didnt have this issue before installing VMware upgrade to three.1.3 version.
