However, doing the work live with passthrough proved impossible. The buffer flush killed things. However, by dubbing from your tape, VideoStudio stops the tape, waits for that buffer to purge, then resumes again. This generally seems to occur with anything more than 5 minutes possibly even on my 1 GhZ Athlon system. But its something I can deal with.
Aside from that, along with the inability to insert video inside timeline while not having to manually move elements like video and audio supers, this is really a neat little editor. If you plan, and assemble your aspects of front to back, it really works pretty fast.

Just used VS8 to complete the editing for my bothers wedding. The new quicktracks audio is excellent for filler music. Only complaint I have is with all the fact that they changed the project file thus it cannot be read with the current version of Media Studio Pro. Oh
Exact common problem as previous poster. Constant transcode buffer flushing with VS8, never with VS7. These occur if your system cannot transcode the DV stream for the fly. My system can be a P4 2.5GHz w/a dedicated 200GB drive for capture. Same useless advice from Ulead tech help, which, incidentally, may be the worst tech help Ive had. No callbacks, no a reaction to emails, poor advice, insufficient concern for their part, etc.
Solution is always to reload VS7 in your system. You can have multiple versions of VS on your own system without the need of problems, I have 6, 7, and 8 loaded. Workaround should be to record in DV and transcode later.
