The 62S is my third GPS, purchased April 2011. With it, I purchased the MapSource City Navigator DVDs for NorthAmerica/Mexico 2011.1 NT and Europe, a DaneElec 4 GB microSD card, along with a Colorado Series Bike Mount 11023. I purchased the 62S mount from DigitalOasis the credit card plus Software from GPScity. Both companies shipped promptly. The 62S has v2.8 software.
My previous two GPSs are definitely the GPSmap76 purchased 2001 as well as the Edge 305 bike GPS purchased 2009. I have used the 76S successfully with Bluechart software for kayaking inside the Pacific NW, with Garmin MetroGuide 2007 for biking around WA State. I provide 76S a 4/5 rating - a great device, which includes saved me more often than not out from the fog. The 305 I give only 3/5 rating - very costly for what it's essentially a pricey bike computer, without maps. Also, the 305 is afflicted with vibration all of which will turn off when my bike hits a bump.
I am an Electrical Engineer who writes control software for any living. I have been utilizing the 62S for approximately 3 months - 2 months while biking around Seattle, and another month within a trip with my lady to Europe. It has worked OK, and has now helped us drive about 1000 miles around Sweden, Norway and S. England. However, I have encountered some frustrations with it plus the CN software. Overall, I rate the 62S and CN software 3.5/5 - good, but tend to be improved. I havent used other manufacturers GPSs so maybe this is as good since it gets right this moment. I have a quantity of comments concerning the CN software plus the 62S graphical user interface, inside the hope these may be improved with time. I am not a professional in while using 62S so perhaps some criticisms are invalid. In that case, I hope a reader can update me.

I cant recover from how well the 62s turns into a satellite indoors! Im around my home office that has a couple of small windows and turned around the unit, after having it turned off for just a couple of weeks: It booted and acquired the very first satellite within just 60 seconds and may navigate within just 90 seconds, with four outside of 5 bars on my small signal strength meter. When I turned it off and on again, I was capable of navigate as soon because it 20 seconds. It seems to not forget what satellites are overhead and spends a shorter time searching for signals if it's got recently acquired a symptom.
I used the 62s while hunting and located that I could always obtain a solid signal regardless how dense the forest was. The 62s is indeed much better than the eTrex Vista I had been using since 62s is inside a different league.
The gui took a bit getting used to, when compared towards the eTrex Visa, even so the 62s carries a lot more features. The technology has made great strides in 8 years.
By the best way, Garmins website only specifies which the 62s accepts approximately 4GB Micro SD cards. However, 4GB Micro SD cards difficult to acquire, however the 4GB Micro SDHC cards are plentiful. I contacted Garmin Tech Support to confirm which the 62s supports both Micro SD and Micro SDHC cards around 4GB max.
The power saver feature was very successful, and I love the reality that the interface can be customized.
I got a new ZAGG screen protector for my 62s. ZAGG didnt have one to the 62s the 62s was too new when I purchased it even so the one that fits a GPSmap 60 might be trimmed and works fine.
I have hardly any regrets at having purchased the product, and Im an actual picky consumer. Garmin scored another great hit with this one!

Use it a good deal while hnting, its great.
Too small. This can be ok for hikers, but I bought to use which has a side by side about the trails. The screen is too small.
