Ive also done some on-line playing, and Im currently working my way through the skirmishes again while using difficulty level set higher.
Its simple to pick up. True, I had played through BFME-1, but that has been long enough ago, and BFME-2 has evolved enough, which it wasnt certain. The built-in tutorials were great, and, yes, since I lack a wide range of free time, I bought the PRIMA game guide.
Its addictive. Not quite the electronic crack that Civ4 is, but Ive spent a lot more time playing it during the last a couple of days than I than I thought I would.

The biggest complaints folks have had about BFME are:
Heh. Wrong and wrong. - - First off: There are plenty of units pay off between the four playable races in Battle For Middle Earth. If people have problems with how many units are from the game, they will take it with Tolkien Enterprises instead of the games developers. EA only agreed to be allowed to play off from characters that were inside movies. And Id say they did a damn good job mustering all they could that has a limited rights license.//Mordor and Isengard are crawling with some other units, but tight on heroes. Gondor and Rohan might not be the most well rounded in terms of troop variations, but i'll tell ya: Gondor has Gandalf his powers are truly awesome to behold on this game then Rohan is chock full of heroes. They have Theoden, Eowyn, Merry, Eomer, Gimli, Aragorn, and Legolas. So it all evens out. I dont care who says why not consider shortage of units. - Theyre all there. There are plenty of formations and combinations to test when it comes for the troop equation.

EDIT: Ive been playing the overall game for a couple of days now, and I can say it has lived nearly all of my expectations see preview below. While you cant control as mnay troops such as Rome:Total War natural meats need to look for any LOTR mod inside the future, BFME have their own little niche, and its particular a very nice one during this. Inevitably the comparison to RTW will likely be made, however, these are two unique games. In RTW, it is possible to control 1000s of low-poly troops, in BFME, you control countless very high poly soldiers, each with very detailed animations and emotions. Yes, the emotions certainly are a nice part on the game.
The graphics are beautiful- they will really bring the Middle Earth world your, especially together with the settings maxed. Howard Shores score also adds an incredible side towards the game, by additional remixing that sounded quite good. Voice acting has also been pretty good, although you are able to tell in a few parts which they didnt really use Viggo for Aragorn.

Formations do give outside assistance in BFME, although flank attacks and tactical maneuvers are unknown, unlike RTW. The Helms Deep mission is fantastic- it brings all of the rigor, stress, and excitement as portrayed within the movie and books.

For some reason it could not load. I never got an opportunity to play it. I had an IT co. work hours on installing it and also HP. No one could handle the installation.
Best game. I now own 5 copies and act with our kids. The campaign is great and multiplayer is amazing! Matches the adventures inside the book/movie with character voices.
