1906-1936 Robert Erwin Howard was developed and rasied in rural Texas, where he lived all his life. The son of an pioneer physician, shortly fater he began writing professionally on the age of fifteen. Howard killed himself in June 1936 when he found his beloved mother had fallen right into a coma.
If youre by any means a fan of fantasy, you borrowed from it to yourself to browse the original Conan stories provided by Robert E. Howard. Hes one with the very few writers of pre-Tolkien fantasy whose characters will still be household words a century later. Theres a reason. Conan is surely an elemental, archetypal character, and Howards writing is masterful - - as Stephen King described it, Howards writing seems so highly arrested for energy that it nearly produces sparks. No one else in fantasy has ever been able to write action as ferociously primal as Howard, and Howards original Conan stories have a very madness along with a ferocious joy that few other writer has ever completely recaptured. If youve only seen Conan through knockoffs or films, do your hair a favor and look at original: the main difference is like whiskey to water.
I in this way collection because its a one-volume variety of all Howards Conan stories, to be able of publication without extraneous materials edited by L. Sprague de Camp or other people based on Howards notes - - as an example, it foregoes including The Treasure of Tranicos de Camps edited version in support of Howards original Conan story, The Black Stranger which has been rejected for publication, rewritten by Howard for the next character named Black Vulmea, which had been again re-provided by DeCamp as Tranicos. It contains Howards two essays around the Hyborian Age detailing history both before and after Conan, respectively, the poem Cimmeria, and many types of in all contains everything it should contain and zip it shouldnt - - a great, single-volume collection on the original Conan stories by Howard, to be able of publication.
I should mention one broad trouble with Howards writing plus a couple of relatively minor flaws with this particular volume. Read more

Just creating a note to those looking at the product. The other reviewer is reviewing an unacceptable product. He is reviewing the Conan comic strip collected edition. This book is all with the original Robert E Howard Conan stories in chronological order within their true form. If we were holding not completed, then we were holding left like that. This is pure 100% Robert E Howard.
I have been keen on Robert E. Howards Conan stories since I first got my hands within the Ace paperbacks using the Frank Frazetta covers in the early 80s. It wasnt until much later that I discovered how adulterated those stories were, and went trying to find more pure Howard. I now own three collections with the complete Howard Conan stories, using this type of single volume collected edition being another.
The Complete Chronicles of Conan: Centenary Edition is often a handsome imitation leather-bound hardback by UK-based publisher Gollancz, who also published the 2-Volume The Conan Chronicles that was one with the first number of all-Howard material with no supplemental De Camp edits. This Centenary Edition was published inside the UK in 2006 to celebrate the 100th birthday of author Robert E. Howard, and is really a companion volume for the Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H. P. Lovecraft collection which is similarly bound.
The stories listed here are presented exactly as these people were originally published. This contrasts using the 3-volume Del Rey editions The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian, The Bloody Crown of Conan, The Conquering Sword of Conan, which worked from Howards notes to write the stories as Howard intended as an alternative to how these people were ultimately edited and published. I enjoy the book. The fonts are extremely easy to learn compared for the Del Rey trade paperback, three book series.
I wish the publication construction was better. The hardcover version includes a simulated leather cover which could scuff if your are not careful. Also, the books spine is just too soft so when the novel is opened in between, the inner spine using the stitching and glue arches along with the outer spine while using simulated leather arches the opposite way. I can push the outer spine in even so it folds inward. This is really a good solution to ruin a real fine book. The paperback version isnt any benefit since the ebook is so thick which the spine will crease unless the first is very carefull. Mine has already been creased. Im keeping the hardcover one for my collection and I make use of the paperback version to study. The paperback version is perhaps same because hardcover apart from the cover materials.
Also, I wish there was clearly more illustrations.
I started reading Conan when I was obviously a kid. A friend of mine had the Ace paperback collection some stories were edited by various authors. I bought all on the same books and then sold them with a used bookstore when I is at college. I missed those stories and was glad to locate these new books. Even though I have several book Del Rey series, I wanted this place for my collection too.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to learn Conan! I used to imagine I what food was in a different world while reading Conan.
This is very great having each one of Robert E. Howards Conan stories in a single book.
Loved this collection. Definite must read for those fantasy fans.

What can I say? Its Conan, one from the most epic stories ever told. Should be mandatory reading at school so people are able to see what genius writing is.
A truly visionary writer. A master of his craft. A new world awaits people.
A great compendium for fans of Robert E Howards Conan series published by original release dates. This is to put it briefly the only Conan book you'll need.
As book is very much better than anything hollyweird could create, and I actually just like the movies.
Great looking book and art! Arrived just as described in front of schedule.
I had the initial series. Now I have it again. Already halfway through.
