I happen to be trying to teach myself calculus. Its not easy. This book can be quite different from each one of my other choices due to the emphasis on heavily color-coded graphics. I suspect until this is a great method for those of you that are ready for doing this, but be aware that it author appears to believe that you already knows a great amount of calculus and wishes to make a visually oriented review. Still, the utilization of color along with the vivid graphics generate a nice change from your usual dry text. I suspect most students of calculus would find this book highly useful. Buy this blog.

On the face area of it, this reference looks wonderful: the foremost topics of calculus explained clearly and concisely. There is really a lot of color coding to help your reader understand tips on how to get from the answer to step. Like most calculus resources Ive seen, it may be difficult to really learn calculus concepts by having a book without already creating a pretty good thought of what you were doing. So this would most benefit, for instance, trainees who was somewhat confused and easily needed some reinforcement. Or a person that hasnt done calculus in the past two years and requires a refresher. There usually are not enough examples or practice problems to solidify ones skills, and that means you would need one more resource to the.
Unfortunately, there are lots of, many errors in this particular book. Some postings brought up a couple. I found dozens. Some errors are minor, like inconsistent color coding or perhaps a parentheses that just isn't closed. Many errors, though, are significant: outcomes are flat out wrong, middle steps are incomplete, graphs are certainly not aligned properly, etc. In fact, you may get an errata through the publisher that lists errors on 50 different pages from 291 pages. Thats poor proof-reading and editing. If you knew calculus, you'll probably see through these errors, however, if you knew calculus, you wouldnt need this book in any way.
I was looking for the way to enhance my conceptual idea of calculus. This book covers very very basic calculus concepts although not anything that I have troubles with like using 3 lines to develop a plane, or riemann sums, or relating many of the physical representations on the notation used, which explains why I purchased the publication. It also jumps from at the mercy of subject without relationship together.

I bought this book being a calculus refresher, when it does a relatively good job. I would not ponder over it to be what its title states, that's Teach Yourself Calculus, its to brief and choppy. So if you would like to review of your calculus, its an OK read. If you would like to learn calculus, this is just not the one for you personally. Also, there are many mistakes inside, coming from all types mathematical and grammatical, that I would should say they never go through it. Even if you are not doing the math and simply reading it, theyre frequent and glaring, almost on the point where I doubt the calculations being presented.

Not enough practice problems and onpage 86, the 1st example, we have an error inside problem. I recognized whole body because like I said I had Calculus decades. There are no errata sheets available.
