Windows Live Movie Maker about the same computer may be remarkably stable. Ive created 18 mintue HD videos with all the same size and volume of clips Im using in Vegas. Lots of transitions and video effects. I doubt it crashed a single time. What it didn't do so well was sync the base MP3 music track while using video files. When previewing during editing, the background music would play back several seconds where it would be if the recording were started through the beginning in the song instead of in the middle. That makes timing transitions with all the music very difficult when you rewind to repeat a piece youve built. At least I could finish the project within the end. FWIW, WLMM was able and keep things synced if still pictures were used rather than video. That was very stable and reliable.
Neither software programs are perfect but Id should give the nod to Window Live Movie Maker. Vegas is usually unusable together with the consistent and frequent crashes. WLMM cames bundled with Windows 7 so its essentially free. Vegas costs 100, doesn't work, and requests more money to assist you with their broken product. It doesnt have more lame than that.

just cant handle HD. I am reviewing it as a a possible replace Pinnacle Studio 14 HD. The first thing I tried was HD. I brought in a very 1 hour HD file and Vegas couldnt handle it - Pinnacle could. I plan to attempt other features. I wrote this review because it is really hard to discover video software that actually works as advertised. My PC is often a quad with 4gb memory and a couple fast hard disks - so thats not the issue. I am using trial version of Vegas Movie Studio and that is advertised as full featured. It gets an F in HD.

has more features than a lot of people would ever need. posseses an excellent help forum. new blue effects are a good feature. all to easy to create almost anything a novice could want inside a home movie.
it is equipped with a learning factor involved. read the assistance and tutorials. registering this product with sony might be a nightmare.
if you like to generate videos or want home movies using a good production this is actually the program to purchase. watch out for sales, newegg just had this for 80 however it is well worth the 95 selling price.
