I taught information design with a major University for upwards of 10 years, meaning I teach others the way to teach or instruct in several media. Before this, I spent 16 years designing software package interfaces, internet websites, and instructional material, including a large number of national and international awards for my work. As such, I am keenly mindful of both the theoretical and practical issues and difficulties in designing instructional games for kids.
The best-known, most-respected, and most-successful educators reveal that education for kids and for adults, for example is most effective if it's fun, if it involves guided self-discovery, in the event it transparently and automatically adjusts the quality of difficulty to fit the learners skills, and if it gives immediate feedback, particularly when the emphasis is on positive feedback for the extent possible. Zoombinis excells in most of these areas.
My 9-year-old son is becoming engrossed because of the game, and today spends time helping his 6-year-old sister. They LOVE the silly aspects on the Zoombinis hip, hip, zoombini!!!, and they are completely unaware actually learning some rather complex logic and mathematical concepts. I was amazed when I overheard my son explaining to his sister the way to solve the logic puzzles.
I tried playing it myself, and discovered that the animation and characters usually are not annoying, cloy, or childish, but possess the perfect amount of levity to hold it interesting. Ive discovered that after just a couple of hours of playing it, my son is faster than me at identifying the puzzles. He is now carrying it out at an intuitive level, while I still have to think it through step-by-step. Read more

I cannot believe I am so excited about a computer game. My brother started playing it when he was 24 months old, and today his best skill is logic and mathematics - because of Logical Journey in the Zoombinis. This game is seriously challenging for everyone that plays it. Even my mom, who is often a very busy 37 years old full time educator, makes time for you to play the bingo she says celebrate her relax. We even go to summer holidays to try out it! Me - I am 16 years old- and my 18 yr old sister also never get motor Logical Journey. And I happen to be playing it for 6 years!
First you decide on 16 of the creatures called Zoombinis, and you're simply supposed to get them of their island to allow them to be free. Of course, around the way to their brand new home, there are various tests to plod through. Each single game is great, each one of them demands logic and brain use as you have fun. You enjoy so much farmville that you have no idea how much time passed so you keep playing it for a long time.
It is difficult to finish the overall game: it requires a lot of time - and plenty of Zoombinis- to finally have them all to their new house and through each game. This is one from the best parts from the game.
Because with the creativity displayed inside mafia wars, the smartness the creators was required to make it real, the task well put for individuals of each and every I pull off my hat although I do not have one on:- and my applauses go for the people who created farmville.
Whoever they may be, thank you. God appreciate it and to the many readers, enjoy Logical Journey from the Zoombinis!
PS: I also recommend Zoombinis Mountain Rescue.

My younger sisters and I happen to be homeschooled for many years, and our math teacher is really a point of bringing math computer software for us to experience durig the week. She brought us Logical Journey on the Zoombinis not too long ago, and now we all became hooked. Even my older sister started in on it. Once we figured out how you can solve the puzzles, we had a whole lot fun. Then we lost the CD and couldnt believe it is anywhere.
A couple of months ago, we had this on and were delighted! Of course we ordered another copy. Being older 14 1/2, 12, and 10 1/2 there were learned more math and could get towards the higher levels. Thats where we started having troubles with it.
The levels change from extremely all to easy to ridiculously difficult in so little time. It would be better whenever they spent added time on each level and worked your way up gradually, or whenever they didnt even arrive at levels which can be so difficult. Not one of people including my oldest sister, now 17 has won Zoombinis. This isnt even because we havent figured out how you can solve the biggest levels, because we now have. Its as a result of another problem with the sport. You have to get so many Zoombinis to Zoombiniville over 500, I think. Each trip, that may take about forty-five minutes, transports only sixteen Zoombinis. After maybe ten max trips, youre on the greatest level. Thats pretty hard, therefore you get bored with doing a similar things time and time again. As it is, none folks have gotten lots of past 200 to Zoombiniville. We simply lose interest.
Plus, it says how the age range is 8 or over. Dont permit this to fool you. A very intelligent 8-year-old might be able to decide the level-one and level-two puzzles, and not many puzzles on higher levels.
My final verdict is: Great game, plenty of fun, but gets way too hard . too easily and would take too much time to actually win.
Thank you to your feedback.

A wonderful throwback to my childhood. So happy I could relive it through mafia wars!
It wouldnt be effective on my computer during beginning of game. It would go slow then work then sound would fade out and in. Once going in the action it was fun. Read more
Such a fantastic game for youngsters and grownups alike. My kids been there when they were this is for my granddaughter!!
Bought farmville for my after-school students to experiment with, and so they enjoyed it!
I loved mafia wars when I was obviously a child however it doesnt often work within the new OS10. I was looking to let my young daughter enjoy it but I cant understand it to load.
it ends up that it does not work in this little new HP pc win 7 computer. stops nevertheless the sellers description warns in this possibility so it's not his/her fault.

Add more Executor results?
Incorporate is a result of a different version of ver. 0.01-pre3a2
First off, this sheet is VERY unfinished. A lot of programs have yet to be tested and a lot of programs might run one of the ways, although not another.
The reason I created this sheet is because in the lack of sources that tell what runs upon an emulated Mac. There are many Mac emulators in existence, but also for most from the results, I used Basilisk II and Sheepshaver largely because they're the most compatible Mac emulators I have used. If you can find any more emulators you desire me to utilize, I ll you'll want to include them. Results might differ between which version you have and what computer is in use, but please be aware that this all occurred during one computer. So, I apologize beforehand if the results change between people. If you'll find any corrections I need to make, send me an e-mail to katae NOSPAMMIN the NOSPAMMIN weirdo AT get rid with the NOSPAMMIN s and replace the AT SYMBOL with the.
it only runs the applications, SoftMac does not have any sound it immediately crashes if sound tries to try out, and I m uncertain if Mini vMac qualifies 100%. Note that I only included games that actually work together with the emulators. Games which require an MMU and/or practically each and every game that really needs Mac OS
8/9 to perform it - yeah, they don t work. Additionally, hardware-rendered 3D games, and also practically every one in the Mac OS
Classic games which depend upon Quickdraw 3D 1.6, OpenGL 1.2.x, and/or SDL will NOT run. Interestingly, OpenGL 1.1.2 may seem to work as does the Mesa Graphics Library.
Speaking of Executor, ARDI already carries a compatibility sheet with their own for your emulator in this article:
I only tested Executor with a few applications, because it had been so buggy and slow on my own OS
In order to join up to Executor, you need to enable administrative mode OR enable compatibility with Windows XP.
If you would like a no-cost, LEGAL Macintosh OS
download, the best available at least officially is System 7.5.3 that may be updated to System 7.5.5. This can be available at the Apple Support Area, and that is at the Apple Support Area.
will not be free if you do not consider piracy XP. But also know this: Any 68k emulator can just support Mac OS
w/New World ROM - Hangs might occur, but almost never you ll encounter them.
The game will boot up, however you can t the game to try out at all for the reason that actual game arrived at a halt before anything happens.
The installer involves a halt an internet install the SVG Plug-in and also you don t have the option to never install it. I have little idea why.
If you can find a workaround, please inform me and also you will be given credit.
Hangs for a couple of seconds while loading, then crashes Sheepshaver probably as it uses OpenGL.
Hangs for a couple of seconds using a black screen and crashes given it needs OpenGL.
It just introduces an error message saying,
It complained a whole lot, leading to me looking for LibMoto, then StdCLib, then InterfaceLib - I quit in the end. XP Is it just me or do I realize its inexcusable that your user must find all these and in all likelihood much more just to perform it should you not have a copy of Mac OS
Causes a Microsoft Visual C error, crashing Sheepshaver. Might be on account of OpenGL though
9.1, but by editing the version numbers from the Finder, System, and System Resources files via Resedit to 9.1 through 9.2.2, the sport might run. However, I have not tested this yet.
Has a complaint about, which I initially thought were required to do with all the fact that this file was missing. But that wasn t it, and I have no idea what s causing the overall game not to load. There s some odd unknown error regarding the file, that has confused me a lot. It seems like the sport can t run.
It requires Quickdraw 3D 1.6 or newer, which Sheepshaver doesnt support.
It crashes Sheepshaver, having a Microsoft Visual C error.
Crashes in Sheepshaver with out error sprouted. XP
Unplayable, mainly because it freezes if you actually begin a different game in Sheepshaver. Only the menus and static screens will run in any way, but without sound. Plus Basilisk II can t run this at all given it s PPC-only.
The game will boot up, but it really is unplayable because the overall game remains inside a waiting state forever for no apparent reason.
Since it uses OpenGL, Sheepshaver will hang when trying to own it.
Causes a Microsoft Visual C error, crashing Sheepshaver. Newer versions don t run at all around the classic Mac OS
The Glide version boots up, then quits through an error message given it requires a 3dfx card, which Sheepshaver doesn t support. And the OpenGL version causes Sheepshaver to hang while booting, because Sheepshaver can t support 3D hardware-rendered graphics.
It boots, but freezes the whole OS
This error appears: Error Code: - 9 From: MPLibraryIsLoaded not.
Crashes Sheepshaver when attempting to open it.
When trying to start it, this appears: The application Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Demo couldn't be opened because Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Demo could hardly be found. This error baffles me for reasons unknown.
I couldn t fully grasp this working regardless of what. The program would crash after it booted up.
When you try to own the program, Sheepshaver immediately quits out usually indicating that some PPC instructions it needs are certainly not supported by Sheepshaver.
An error similar for the one on the Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Demo shows up and clicking around the icon a second time causes Sheepshaver to stop.
It relies heavily on Flash. Demo locks up when opening.
When trying to load it down, it crashes Sheepshaver.
It locks using a turquoise screen for two seconds, after which Sheepshaver crashes.
It refuses running without VecLib.
Installation works fine, however it crashes at startup.
Crashes, it doesn't matter what settings you decide on.
It opens approximately two seconds and after that quits.
It uses OpenGL and to be a result, it crashes Sheepshaver.
It doesnt often work properly, even with all the proper system requirements.
It requires Quickdraw 1.6 or newer in order running.
It uses OpenGL 1.2.1 plus it will not run since Sheepshaver doesn't have support just for this component.
It seems to crash Sheepshaver, possibly since it uses OpenGL.
It boots up, but usually starting a casino game causes Sheepshaver to secure. The Sloppydisk logo on the beginning is very white and menu bar is invisible.
Causes some odd hang when attempting to load it.
It will endeavor to boot up, however it crashes Sheepshaver ultimately, possibly since the 3D graphics acceleration requires actual hardware.
The application RockNES can't be opened because RockNES cannot be found. It makes no sense whatsoever. SMS Plus v1.0.3, TGEmu v0.2.3, KiGB v1.5.2, Neopocott v0.4.4, Genesis Plus v1.2.2, ViBE v1.0b3, Boycott Advance v0.3.0, Oswan v0.7.2 all have a similar problem.
Crashes Sheepshaver a couple of seconds after loading it.
Holds up for a couple of seconds and quits because doing so needs OpenGL 1.1.2 or newer running.
No matter how hard I try, it crashes for the title screen. If you can explain why and/or how I can overcome this, don't hesitate to tell me.
It crashes that has a Microsoft Visual C error if you run the sport. The game setup game settings setup runs.
It also crashes that has a Microsoft Visual C error.
First activated AppleTalk acoording on the AppleTalk for SheepShaver guide. Installation and configuration of Dave be long concerning s a running Windows machine about the network for Dave to seize the workgroup name from else the configuration assistant crashes. But Dave can t find any actual machines or printers about the network and anything shared by Dave will not be visible with other machines. So actually Dave is useless.
Unexpectedly quits because of a type 3 error. It s been replaced using a non- Mac OS
It doesn t manage to run in any respect, due to your fact that this game needs 3D hardware.
The menu works perfectly. But establishing the actual game leads to a Microsoft Visual C error, this means Sheepshaver crashes.
It requires Quickdraw 3D 1.6.
Causes Sheepshaver to CRASH.
It crashes when attempting to start it for whatever reason, whatever version I use. Probably because Sheepshaver lacks support for OpenGL games Wingnuts uses the OpenGL API
An error occurs, with all the error reading:
Sorry, a blunder has occurred.
determine what happened.
And no, changing the volume of colors doesn't work.
Sorry, an oversight has occurred.
determine what happened.

PureMac - For hosting a great deal Mac games, many of which were put to use here. I also took MANY icons from their website.
System 7 Today - They hold some in the stuff used with this sheet, including LibMoto, Duke Nukem 3D both 68k and PPC, a few. Shame the Tomb Raider demo file is corrupt.
AusMac Archive - Some in the games were used just for this sheet.
For having Descent I and II, Blobs 1.8, and several more.
Classics for X This site set it up the idea for starting this compatibility list and many icons.
X gamesbut what else will you expect?
Macintosh Emulation Station - They had a Sheepshaver compatibility list, which had been fortunately archived. and I used some of it because of this sheet. XP
This site still has the nice old Build 142 version of Basilisk II for Windows.
Staz Software They have FutureBASIC and links to few apps.
68K Mac Liberation Army Their forums have helped me a great deal.
Classic, though I am a bit concerned that Version Tracker got bought out by them
Microsoft Even though they created many abominations especially THAT Bob, I cant thank them enough for having a screen capture tool for Vista which I used A LOT!
websites - If it weren t of these websites, I wouldn t have discovered some from the more obscure stuff seen here.
v. 0.01-pre3a2: The current version. This was written from May 3rd, 2009 to May 21st, 2009. And again, from July 1st, 2009 to August 1st, 2009. This is really a rather minor revision, with error corrections and whatnot. It got changed into wiki format on May 3rd, 2010 through May 5th, 2010. Weird how i'm going by. There are some results that haven t been added yet, possibly lost.
v. 0.01-pre3a1: Quite a major revamp - Written around February of 2009 to May 2nd of 2009. This was a final version in HTML
Errors also got fixed occasionally as usual, along with a bit of rearrangement. So you dont become bored reading endless pages of text, I added some in the programs icons. Its also the initial version to have greater than just games or somewhat-games, but most with the additions are games. Some programs also got tested in Executor hardly any though. URLs have already been added on the sites which might be currently functioning, plus I added some sources I ignored in the previous version on accident. And lastly, the compatibility sheet just isn't just for games anymore, hence the sheet is titled MECS: THE MAC EUMLATION COMPATIBILITY SHEET. A few other changes here too. It s still nowhere near complete, because of the way. File size: 173 KB, far more if you are the icons.
v. 0.01-pre2: The second version - Written around December 30th of 2008 to February 2nd of 2009. I converted the slide into HTML
edited via MS Word 2003, fixing some errors on the way. Additional Comments are actually added in certain areas. Its the only version to own THE MAC EUMLATION COMPATIBILITY SHEET FOR GAMES that's been released. File size: I was targeting towards 120 KB, but it had been roughly under that with a few approximately kilobytes
v. 0.01-pre1: The very first version - Written around October 11th to December 29th of 2008. At this point, it contains nothing but games running in Basilisk II or Sheepshaver. It was also in file. File Size: just below 40 KB and I typed A LOT! It was nowhere near complete. It must be noted until this was largely unreleased as well as a reason too.
