Even WP Corporation/Borland/Corel s version of Quattro pro which consists of DOS GUI inteface and is Windows version throughly embarrased Microsoft Excel in regards to functionality. I remember Word Perfect since I tried it daily for approximately 8 years. It was superior to WordStar! As one s fingers learned the commands, it absolutely was very fast; faster than mousing around Word today. Ah, purchasing of DOS, when function keys were around the left and Ctrl was beside A. I made the command prompt sing. My ran batch file utilities that ran daily reminders, displayed prize-winning dos prompts, played tunes and presented a bat menu coming from all my programs. I had ANSI macros that ran CED macros that ran BAT subroutines that ran Smartkey macros and many types of my programs, or stopped to type methods of XCOPY plus the like, with common options already entered. Wish new Windows was more DOS friendly.
People who still use wpdos 5.1 typically customized the heck from it via macros, add-ons, supplemental dictionaries and vast merge setups. Their fingers can deal without being reminded. 5.1ers have never found new programs capable or worth the trouble.
Odd you're given 5.1 but not 5.1, which comes with add-ons to face proportionally spaced fonts. Or the more mouseified 6.2, with a WYSIWYG option, user-defined buttons, a spell check because you type along with other such options. Keyboards changed, running wpdos in Windows became increasingly difficult, and today Word wont even convert a wpdos file without having a special setup. Soon the wpdosers are going to be gone. New generations will type from the clouds because the IBMers tried to acquire those old early adapters to complete, renting programs and space for storage, and after that the Personal in PC can become another thing in the past.

I downloaded WP 5.1 from onto 10 new floppies which hadn t seen the sunlight of day for decade at least!. I decided to utilize Virtual PC 2007 and installed Windows dinosaur to ensure that I could use MS-DOS. Virtual PC 2007 was fine nonetheless it I needed to obtain some floppy disk image, information with extension with the Floppy Drive to work. Anyways, WP 5.1 installed ok and not without a lot of frustration in the OldVersion. com website. It asked will be able to have 10 formatted HD disks willing to label and download to, which I did. However, as soon as the confusion of downloaded the files on the named diskettes, eventually I realized I forgot to clear out one diskette to set up another one. And installation was obviously a slight nightmare.
I have it all running fine though. I never used WP before nor did I use DOS and this has been a very challenging week. I am formerly a Court Reporter that is now transcribing depositions and WP5.1DOS is actually we are able to use to create an ASCII disk., another daunting part of me.
I use WP Office X6 to make the depo at a set format, save it to be a WP5.1/5.2 document on to your floppy. I then open 5.1DOS, retrieve it through the A drive in the C, and the fun begins of formatting it therefore it still is within the deposition format of 25 lines per page. It has to take a look like the tough copy. And lo and behold, following on this with all the Reveal Codes, with the past 9 days, I am still at Square 1. I had installed an unacceptable printer. Had to get the DosText Printer only.
I had no clue, much like the instructions and also the 10 confusing mislabeled disks, the best way to redo not hard to install to find the correct printer. However, I did find an existing file online, which I downloaded and installed. Now, the my depositions look worse than before. So, I wish to uninstall the complete installation and redo it and pray this is perhaps all worth it before I m 100 yrs old! I just don t know the way to uninstall in DOS. I have mixed feelings around the program since it took me a few days to have a grip around the Reveal Codes, the DOS commands, as well as the formatting. I m determined to have great results though.

The first problem was installation.
Initially I attempted to perform the application downloaded using this very site in the virtual machine installing of Windows Advanced Server 2000.
