Im a long-time WordPerfect user - - from way back inside the WP4.2 version for DOS from the late 80s. I even taught WordPerfect classes with the local University long ago - - including versions 5.0 and 5.1. As a long-standing WP user, there seemed to be not much of the learning curve or much really new from the word-processing package which will be the only element with the produce I use. I am somewhat surprised and disappointed this version won't permit saving work to your open office writing format. Saving to rtf and opening the rtf file in open office is surely an ok work around, but I would believe that, in light of WPs loss in market share, compatibility for some other formats can be emphasized. WP is still by far the most efficient word processing software for almost any project that needs any but essentially the most basic features.

This was an outstanding purchase. I have always hated MS Office, and WordPerfect would be the solution to me. Allows me to operate or open in Office when I absolutely need to, and rehearse WP when I dont think that getting ticked off that has a fussy pain inside the butt Microsoft program. If you are able to get this version cheap, I see silly to buy the X6. For the average user, you'll just be paying an added 100 for just a different package design.

WordPerfect has always been an exceptional product in comparison to Microsoft Word; however, they did not have the cash to compete. Corel has been doing a good job with WordPerfect; however, they can be adding a bit a lot of bloat. Keep WordPerfect fast and streamlined.

I have used Word Perfect since some time inside late 80s when I stopped using WordStar. Showing how old irrrve become much?!! Any time I am expected to use Word, I miss reveal codes, and also go back to Word Perfect. I am not saying it can be for everyone. If you happen to be a while Word user, you'll probably want to stick to Word, except for those of us who know and love WP it's worth the upgrade. I purchased a fresh computer and may not move the version of WP that had my old Dell on the new machine. I was going to buy X6, but read that it's unnecessary unless there will be something specific from the new version that you'll need. That was not true for me, so I saved some funds and was able to obtain the Pro version on the standard version of X5. The Corel website includes a upgrade matrix pdf that shows the differences between X5 and X6 together with one mentioning the differences relating to the standard version along with the pro version of X5
For me the advantage from the Pro version was the inclusion of Paradox. I hope Amazon lets me to incorporate the URLs.
