I have a very feeling quite sure doesnt like Windows Server 2008 R2. It was used successfully on Server 2003. I have seen additional posts on Google for anyone searching for an latest version without success. /snip
have latest version of Office 2013 installed Windows 7-32bit. I can only print on one occasion one print job sent from any Office app, if I try printing again sending another print job on the printer from your same office app as well as non-office apps like Adobe PDF the task gets stuck spooling, never progresses or prints. I can only print again if I reboot my computer, and after that only once if I print from an Office 2013 app.
I have confirmed it becomes an Office 2013 bug because I have Office 2010 still installed therefore, the very same document will print on a similar printer fine and I can print from then on just fine. So once I make an effort to print from any Office 2013 app, printed spooler hangs.
After the situation occurred again despite the fact that I disabled Windows Defender, I have now confirmed it can be the Printer driver HP MFP printer. I determined this by generating a virtual printer and might print with it consistently without problem. Interestingly, that printer was one through the Windows 7 normal selections and doubtless older than the printer I am wanting to print to. Unfortunately HP have not updated my printers driver since 2009 and I doubt they're going to at here. I still don't realize what has changed in Office 2013 vs. 2010 that might cause a working printer driver to have this matter.
When using word 2013, the arrows about the vertical scroll bar on right of page usually are not working well.
They work once or twice then seize up. I use them when slowly examining or altering a document and hate that they will not be functioning properly!!
Surprise Solution: Uninstall expired factory installed Office 2007 trial.
Found out after many test that theres an incompatibility between Adobe PS CS3 and Word 2013 fonts resulting in the Word to crash. No clue in regards to solution except not using Adobe fonts on Word.
Pay due to this free service by hitting the Blue Answer link on reply that fixed yourproblem.

If Word opens in Safe mode that could imply that an add-in is causing the challenge.

Dear all, finally I found that problem will not be only with word. I couldnt open various other programs, as an example Google Chrome and what is more valuable I cant install or uninstall programs. even industry 11, when I simply click start menu app, it opens in desktop view. And everything happened after updating windows 8 to windows 8.1
I face the same downside to word. I installed 8.1 yesterday and Word hasnt worked properly since. The first time I open it, a dialogue box opens asking me if I need to run Word in safe mode or otherwise not. However, after closing Word, it isn't going to open again. I have tried repairing Office however it hasnt worked. Rebooting also hasnt helped in any respect. Troubleshooting hasnt yielded any improvements either. On opening the Task Manager, I found that Word was running to be a background process. I faced an identical issue with PowerPoint nevertheless its fine now I have little idea how. I have this years Office Home and Student Edition. Please help me out.

Have you tried re-starting the computer then try starting Word again.
