This is the time to actually have the modern available update or service pack installed. Without Microsoft support, you will will no longer receive security updates which will help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, as well as other malicious software that may steal your own information. Updates are cumulative, with each update built upon each of the updates that preceded it. A device has to install the most up-to-date update to be supported. Updates can sometimes include new features, fixes security and/or non-security, or maybe a combination of both. Not all features in a update works on all devices. A device is probably not able to receive updates should the device hardware is incompatible, lacking current drivers, or else outside in the Original Equipment Manufacturers OEM support period. Update availability can vary greatly, by way of example by country, region, network connectivity, mobile operator, for cellular-capable devices, or hardware capabilities including, , free disk space.
Mainstream support Microsoft will offer you mainstream support for at least 5 years on the date of your products general availability. For example, if you pick a latest version of Windows and five-years later another version is released, you continue to have couple of years of support left for your previous version.
Extended support Microsoft will offer you extended support for at least 5 years from your date of an products general availability.
For details on the difference between mainstream support and extended support, consider the Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy FAQ.
End of sales means date each time a particular version of Windows is will no longer shipped to retailers or Original Equipment Manufacturers OEMs. Examples of OEMS are Dell and ToshibaPC manufacturers who often preinstall Windows software.
This table gives end of sales dates for specific Windows os.
Windows7 HomeBasic, HomePremium, Ultimate
Note anytime the retail software product reaches its end of sales date, it could still be purchased through OEMs the business that made your PC until it reaches the conclusion of sales date for PCs with Windows preinstalled.
When Microsoft launches a brand new version of Windows, we will always allow OEMs to market PCs preinstalled while using previous version for up to 24 months after the launch date on the new version unless otherwise announced. Certain OEM versions of Windows products include downgrade rights as outlined from the software license terms. Downgrade rights be able to use a previous version of Windows instead in the licensed software preinstalled on a fresh PC. See Downgrade rights for further details.
We will keep allow retailers to offer the previous version of Windows for the year following launch date on the new version.
For Volume Licensing programs, licenses will still be available through downgrade rights after the finish of general availability. General use of licenses for that previous version of Windows will cease as soon as the latest version is available, or when otherwise dependant on Microsoft. However, we're going to make media available with the current version as well as the prior two versions.
Service packs and updates are part with the process of keeping WindowsXP, WindowsVista, Windows7, and Windows8 updated. To install the most recent service pack for WindowsXP, WindowsVista, or Windows7, or install the newest update for Windows8, look at the Service Pack Center.

Windows XP SP4 Unofficial Final has become available!
Windows XP official support has finished. Many users - including me - who wont be capable of upgrade their old machines into a newer OS want to easily install all Windows updates in a convenient package. For this reason I started working over a Service Pack 4 package in September 2013.
Windows XP Unofficial SP4 ENU is often a cumulative update rollup for Windows XP x86 English. It might be applied with a live Windows XP system that's SP1, at minimum, installed or it could be slipstreamed integrated in every Windows XP installation media.
It includes updates for almost all Windows XP components, including MCE and Tablet PC. Request-only hotfixes are already included. Currently, Frameworks 4.0, 3.5, 1.1 and 1.0 Tablet PC only are included inside the Windows XP SP4 package. In addition, all post-eol updates Framework 1.1, 3.5 and 4.0 until May 2014 happen to be included. 1.x, 3.5 versions are automatically installed/updated in live installations. Only Framework 3.5 is enabled automagically in integrated installation. Framework 1.1 will probably be always installed if Media Center Edition occurs.
If you download the it's also possible to scan Windows Update for POSReady updates, for the reason that POSReady trick is included.
The installer may also be downloaded from the form of two ISOs. These ISOs may be found inside ISO for SP4 installer Cloud folder.
Windows XP SP4 security enhancements: Windows XP SP4 includes registry updates to further improve security. I want to thank Stefan Kanthak, a burglar expert who's got kindly given me the required information. These security enhancements address issues not fixed by Microsoft updates.
The Documentation Cloud folder contains all Windows XP SP4 documentation files.
Windows XP SP4 Deployment Guide folder: A series of 6 WMV videos discussing some kind of special SP4 installation scenarios.
Windows XP SP4 Components Reference: A PDF file containing every update and component built into Windows XP SP4.
You may also find HTML copies with the SP4 Release Notes, SP4 Live Installation Instructions and SP4 CD-ROM Installation Instructions. These files may also be included within the SP4 installer.

1. Windows XP Unofficial SP4 is usually used in English only. Howewer, it will be possible to translate for some other languages using MUI packs.
2. Patches Cloud folder carries a number of patched files. These files, when in combination with SP4 media, ought to be digitally signed. Some of these might be used to enable installation on systems with 4 GB of RAM or greater and some will help you changing the default list of components for being installed during CD-ROM installations.
3. nLite and Windows XP Professional SP4: nLite will detect all Windows XP SP4 Professional media as Media Center ones. Ignore any Media Center-related messages, this behaviour can be a result on the way nLite checks whether Media Center is found. Media Center will likely be available provided that SP4 is slipsteamed in the media Center installation source.
4. A note about POST-SP4 Hotfixes. The post-sp4 update KB2918614 updates MSI 4.5. It is imperative that you just install this update seperately. After setting it up RUN THIS COMMAND:/regserver
Also, when you Framework 4.0 be sure to run:
every time you install a different update or application Framework. This will boost systems performance and make certain reliability.
5. There is an problem with updates I wish to report, which is not brought on by the SP4 itself.
Scenario: Install SP4 - Framework 4.0- Run Windows Update Manual Check. - Install Updates - reboot twice - Installed all updates successfully - Run Windows Update Manual Check.
You are certain to get Framework 4 GDR update KB2468871 from the optional updates.
HKLM, Framework 4 Client ProfileKB2468871 and

7. Post-SP4 Update Pack: An update pack, which might be slipstreamed into any SP4-integrated installation disk, is currently available. You can find it inside the Post-SP4 Update Pack Cloud folder.
This update pack must be combined with Windows XP SP4 Version 2- integrated media to Clean install Windows XP SP4 all post-SP4 updates before date specified below.
READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING: UNLIKE ALL OTHER UPDATE PACKS its integration is completed in these 3 steps. It must be done BEFORE USING nlite or RyanVM integrator, using a clean SP4 v2 source:
1. Copy the I386 folder in the ZIP FILE towards the installation directory.
2. Copy the CMPNENTS folder through the ZIP FILE for the installation directory.
3A. If youre using HOME Edition copy the file in the ZIP FILE towards the I386 subfolder with the installation folder. OR:

5. The PATCHES folder has the updated versions of modified, , and allows to OPTIONALLY affect the default configuration of components.
After integrating the post-sp4 update pack you are able to perform any tweaks you wish.
WARNING: The post-sp4 update pack, unlike Windows XP Service Pack 4 v2, has undergone limited testing! Its designed primarily for Clean, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM-based installations

NOTE: Framework 3.0 updates usually are not offered via Windows Update even in case you apply the POSReady update hack. They may be found within the update repository as well as the most recent post-sp4 update pack.
9. Windows XP SP4 Source Files: These files are already used to construct Windows XP SP4 Final. They are presented to You with a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License. Download offered at the Unofficial SP4 Source Files Cloud Folder.
