I believe I may use a corrupted Windows Script Host installation, but I am not 100% sure. Ill considered as someone as many details as it can be. I try and keep my computer working well and can usually fix most problems but this is driving me nuts!
About a while back I installed TurboTax 2009 to accomplish my taxes and realized that every help link I tried from the program mentioned an empty help window. I thought that has been odd and inside the end I wound up installing it one of my other computers plus it was fine. Yesterday I was searching the internet and came for the idea that maybe the condition was relevant to Windows Scripting. I saw some individuals mentioning script errors in Windows Help and Support so I opened up and looked around. Sure enough, I encountered two script errors. For example, if I select Fixing a challenge I get the subsequent error:

The Help window then shows facts about Fixing an issue, but here and there from the text is XOX. It appears that wherever it says XOX, it must be saying Windows XP something like that along those lines. I then aimed to open up a number of the many CHM files from the WindowsHelp folder. Not all them cause errors, but several do. For example, causes the very first error mentioned previously followed by another script error that claims Class not registered. It also displays XOX in places also.
It seems pretty very likely to me how the lack of information inside the TurboTax help windows is in connection with this other problem I am having. Im not sure once this all started but I suspect it had been several months ago. A while back I realized that Pogo games wont run using this computer as it says we don't possess the correct version of Java installed. I am now believing that perhaps uses javascript to look for the Java version installed and perhaps that is in connection with these other issues too.
Please let's face it when I say I have tried every thing I can think about. As already stated, I can usually fix such things as this but I am against a wall. I have spent hours looking online for assist with this and possess gotten nowhere. Many sites say this is a security problems in IE. I have tried setting the IE security to totally relaxed and yes it didnt help. I even tried rolling time for IE6 and yes it didnt help I am using IE8. I also tried disabling all IE add-ons and yes it didnt help. I have tried replacing numerous WSH-related DLLs that I am conscious of by taking them off another XP SP3 computer which is identical so far as the OS and Windows Updates go. Didnt help. I was going to accomplish a Windows Repair but also for some reason my USB keyboard didnt assist it. I suspect it is because doing so is linked with a USB hub, but I didnt try connecting it right to the computer. I style of took it as being a sign that maybe I should seek to fix it again before doing something so drastic. Unfortunately System Restore no longer has sufficient the question because just a couple of days ago I deleted basically the latest System Restore file. Why, I have no idea. Ive never required to use it before and figured it had been a waste of space. Dont worry around the 147 GB of free space on my small C drive. I could nearly kick myself for deleting those now.
So anyway, I really suspect that something is corrupted. Whether it be files or keys inside the registry I are unsure. If I knew which registry keys are relevant to WSH as well as the files which are related, perhaps I could understand straightened out by comparing completely to another XP computer I have. It might be a corrupt IE installation, but I tried rolling time for IE6 and rear to IE8 in order that it seems unlikely. Also, in addition to the minor Pogo problem mentioned previously, I do not possess problems online on a website. It seems to be associated with the local scripting host instead of server-side scripts online on a website. Incidentally Pogo conditions all of my other computers running identicle service packs updates also it does work about this computer but only in Mozilla Firefox which from what I understand uses a unique scripting host instead of WSH.
I have looked on Microsofts site and also have seen downloads for Windows Script 5.7 I think it absolutely was 5.7 but once I seek to install it says that my service pack is above what it desires to install so that it aborts. I have found articles for the Microsoft website that mention fixing or repairing WSH however are for older OSs. I cannot find however to repair my WSH installation on XP SP3 nor any tips on doing so manually. I guess I can still digest and complete a repair install around the OS but Ive never needed to try and do that before in almost two decades of Windows computing. I know I will should just reinstall patches but Id still wish to avoid it. I even pondered biting the bullet and installing Windows 7 until I found out I cant do an in-place upgrade all of which will need to re-install most of my games, and many other programs. Id really prefer to fix this challenge if possible, but I supposed it isnt the finish of the world if I cant.
Any thoughts or knowledge all of you can give me within this? Id have fun here!

So as we registered and restarted, we might resolve the challenge. So I would suggest these if anyone has any scripting issues:
Click Start, Run. Type the subsequent command 1 by 1, and press enter after each command. NOTE down the output message and can include them and your reply.
Restart Windows and post back the status.

Hi Ramesh i do hope you are still there or other people with ideas for fixing script errors - I am having similar problems to KevinD who started this thread. I know almost enough about computers and XP for being an administrator at the very least I know enough to know everything Kevin says and tried plus your reply. I, too have XP Pro SP3 and WS5.7 will not likely install that it was suggested for just a previous problem I was having but I think SP3 makes this obsolete.
My scripting errors, which report things just like what Kevin does above, occur only in Help and Support that I have noticed until now; I avoid IE7 being a browser nevertheless it has launched sometimes without errors and produce links not work, plus-signs cease present or expand along with the xoxox text appear - so Help and Support is generally neither for up to every topic I am consulting it for. It seems some thing like it is not finding actual help chm files its seeking, but there can be many reasons with the, naturally.
Moreover, I have 2 identical PCs hardware that have their hard-drives burned on the same CD mirror I think thats what its called, I have installed identical KB along with other MS updates as directed by MS Updates and possess cleaned the registry sticking with the same program in non-agressive mode. Yet Help and Support works fine one machine and more often than not has problems for the other.
I preformed the checks you suggested with your reply and aside from one apparent spelling error with your commands I think it can be vbScript, not vbcript, which reports module could cease found all 5 checks report Succeeded. I have opened a fresh tread, but need answers quickly. This may be the accounting pc and they have to process today.
I aimed to download windows script host 5.7 latest on ms website and trying to put in it says that the not the newest version when compared to the one installed for the XP SP3 machine.
Did MS update into a newer version and the way do I fix this as I require wsh working?

To see what version of scripting you already possess, to the:
Click Start, Run and inside box enter:
