GET RID OF THIS TEN CHARACTER THINGY.
Thanks, you professional company you, for publishing a fake download to get ad revenue. It barely seems true! Why would Microsoft even upload a replica of their OS for folks to pirate?
Cnet, exactly like every other download site, is now synonymous with the term CON. From the beginning on the Internet, download sites like Cnet, try and fool you with big green buttons, into downloading a download manager or some other software you do not need. Usually they generate the download link tough to see or find.
This download for media center has taken them into another category the category of we dont give you a, we simply want you to definitely click a web link so we, Cnet, will make some money with Microsoft, and screw you the internet user.
This user will never be visiting Cnet again. You should do a similar.
Waste of your time guys, there isn't a download to be enjoyed on this web site.
MS says, Windows XP Media Center Edition can be a version on the Windows XP main system and is no more being sold. so why wouldn't you let us own it??? all they need is for us to upgrade systems to make more income, like they will really need
my respect for MS just dropped extremely low. somewhere on the net someone has it and im gonna find

what would be the cons of nothing?
the idea that its nothing!
total waste of energy. says for the review rules no profanity, however it is better than telling total lies to people for making money
None, the download won't exist.
The download will not exist. Microoft wont allow you to get a good copy of windows, they only enable you to get what they need. Vista sucks, and 7 aint greater.
I are unsure what the hell is wrong with cnet but this should actually be removed.
I ran 7 for several months and located too many things missing that XP has and didnt such as features it had, they are useless.
MS says media center dont assist XP, you will need to install win 7, but Windows XP media center edition has media center exactly why cant I get a duplicate of media center for my copy of XP pro?? STUPID MS

CNET Sucks for misleading us to consentrate we can download WMC for XP, I give CNET one star because I cannot allow them to have ZERO stars.
Their are also media center softwares that include the standard video file formats, unlike WMC, which only generates WTV files, then ought to be converted to view by most ALL TVs
None - the download now takes that you Microsoft Window 7 buy it now from Microsoft.

This review was worthwhile because it has, finally, shown me that Microsoft dont value being fair! Tv programs that worked fine when first put in place on XP media version now dont work; and they demand to charge for upgrading to windows I can purchase a full blown flat screen TV for half the retail price!!

This review was beneficial because it has, at long last, shown me that Microsoft couldnt give you a about being fair! Tv programs that worked fine when first build on XP media version now dont work; and they need to charge for upgrading to windows 7. They can go and their selves! I can obtain a full blown flat screen TV for half the value!!
None, considering that the product are not downloaded.
The name in this download is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. However, in case you click Download Now, all you could see is the link to upgrade to Windows 7, to experience the latest on Windows Media Center.
The point is that if you need to download Windows Media Center, the XP version of Windows Media Center, you'll have to upgrade to Windows 7. And the only reason I can visualize is that Microsoft wants your cash.

Sorry, just saw your reply. Your sarcasm is noted. When I wrote the review, I was frustrated that I couldnt just download Media Center on its own. I was also aggravated from MS excluding XP support from the products for that sole reason for pushing individuals to the new OS. However, its unimportant. This review was almost a couple of years ago, the ones should definitely be looking for something different by now, regardless of whether its not Windows. Windows 7 is fantastic, but people runs with Ubuntu in the event the upgrade is cost-prohibitive; desktop Linux is here a long ways, as well as the upgrades are free of charge.
Also, I know it seems silly to anticipate that links to XP Media Center Edition indicate XP Media Center Edition and not something more important. Maybe its CNETs problem, plus they just need to disassemble this faulty download listing.

Now which is amazing - I can not believe Microsoft can have the gall to hyperlink to their new, updated product after their previous version according to an os that is over several years old is past its life. And they also need to charge money correctly. Completely unbelievable. Thank you on your excellent review and sage words.
This merely screwjob from microsoft, for getting everyone on 7

If it's not necessary your Windows installation CD you will still find a few things you may do. If you might have an image of your respective CD, you could be able to do more.
I have zero CD - how do I get at Windows XP setup?
I discussed in the prior article what to do in case you have no installation CD for Windows XP. But now once youve found your CD image - wheres the setup?
What you'll need will depend on what youre looking to do.
If you want to create a change on your system configuration - perhaps adding an accessory that you simply neglected on the original setup - then this place to go will not be setup, however the control panel:
That provides up the dialog thats extremely just like setup in which you may select the optional Windows components to incorporate or remove.
If youre planning to reinstall system files simply because you suspect corruption everything you really need will be the System File Checker. This utility validates that every of Windows system files are correct and fixes people who are not:
Finally, should you really, honestly and truly wish to re-install windows, step one would be to perform your installation CD. If you do not have one, possibly you have an image with the CD with your hard disk. In the I386 directory are two files:
would be the 32 bit version from the character mode Windows setup. You could be able running this from the inside of Windows.
could be the 16 bit version in the character mode Windows setup. Why a 16 bit version? If you cant run and are competent to boot from an MS-DOS floppy or are competent to boot to Win9x DOS mode, next the setup program will last you.
WARNING: and would be the start-from-scratch, do-it-all-over-setup programs. Use them only should you want a complete re-install of Windows - possibly losing any prior custom configuration changes you've made, based on whether setup is installing on top of which enable it to understand a previous installation.

can i copy win xp home from image file in this little hard drive?
Not exactly sure what youre asking. Certainly you are able to copy the files from your image - what tools to work with will depend on what type of image file it's.
After rebooting, I recieve this error message: Could not execute the leading:The system cannot chose the file specified. After I close your window my system usually run normally. I occasionally have a message that some function is unavailable as I play in this little desktop. Im running Windows XP on 128mbs 800 series duron processor. thankyou, David Ryce
I suspect some spyware or another malware has tried to incorporate something in your startup and failed. I would check whats looking to start before you start or login to Windows this information will help:, and Id make sure you run a good spyware removal tool like Ad-Aware or Spybot Search Destroy links here:
Hi Leo, i'm michael duivis Cristobal. I would like that you help me, uncover a method to restore Windows XP Help and Support Center index Ill be anticipating your helpful anwser, and I think you before hand.
Im not quite sure what we mean. Do you not receive an index after you press the Index button in Help Support? Do you purchase an error, and if that's the case what?
Hi, Leo thats exactly my problem; the index. So I want to know how this could be fix or restore, because I noticed that from the help and support center, most subjects are connected to many other programs and applications. Even the IEs Help just isn't working properly because, Im getting a mistake message, which says that there is often a script problem, so that it also ask me, when a wish to continue dealing with it, and yes it says YES or NO. Im sure that it has to do while using main Windows XP Help and Support Center too. So Leo please aid me, in order to obtain it fix, immediately. Once again thanks.
ok what could I do if I accidently erased the boot section and from now on XP wont start and I haven't any inbuilt CDrom or Floppy as well from?
So you might have nothing the machine can boot from? Then Id guess youre doomed until it is possible to attach a boot device such like a floppy disk or CD-ROM drive.
When I open my computer the Windows will not load. It used to have Win98. It says that it's missing a file that may be needed to operate windows. All I can do is write stuff before c:/. I have bought a brand new XP CD and would like to put in it about the computer. It is suppose to own the CD after I use it in and restart laptop computer but it doesnt.
Any Help will probably be appriciated.

Can i burn the i368 file from my laptop onto my pc, which recently crashed and lost its operating-system, and install Windows XP? I contacted Microsoft and so they said I require a restore cd from my manufacturereMachines which has been going to set me back 80 dollars. Anyway I use a and just need a duplicate of Windows XP, and needed to know if my computer, that has an empty harddrive, might have xP using the i368 plainly use my own in the
Please react to this. I are unsure too much about computers, on the other hand tried you i386 method. The i386 file has ended 1 GB in dimensions so i cant burn it with a single cd. How must i split this, or must i do something different. PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS.
Masoum: I don't possess an answer yet. I noted that my very own I386 directory is finished 800Meg, so Im researching solutions, but I do not possess one yet.
Sir, I need to know, how can i get the corrupt data recover coming from a corrupt cd.
Please aid me sir, I use a cd which have my most significant data within it.
The most effective way is to try different machines. CDs which might be unreadable a single machine can occasionally be read by another. Otherwise Id simple copy your entire CD to my hard disk, ensuring to ignore any errors that can come up. You wont get ALL within your data, however, you should get almost all of it. If the errors are within the directory area with the CD, you might be out of luck.
I got a new Laptop from emachine, they just gave me a recovery CD 3 of which which are exact image with the configurated system made using Symantec Ghost software, not copies in the actual computer windows XP, that is unfair since when I bought the device, I already covered the main system, that I don t even own it!!
In the light with the above, I would like to know how for making a windows setup CD from your already installed Windows XP on my small computer; I hate to cover twice for the identical thing, that may be why I am not paying additional money to Bill Gates.
September 30, 2005 10:47 PM
Eelco: Check for inside the i386 directory also.
Leo - In regards to copying the i386 file or any file greater than the usual 700mb with a CD, you should use a DVD-RW which normally stores 4.7gb of digital info. The DVD-RW doesnt ought to be used for video.
Certainly. Though not everybody has DVD writers.
I just require a little clarification. If I utilize the image around the hard drive to completely reinstall windows because no cd was sent with all the laptop, will the reinstalled version automatically copy the image for the hd again? I guess to obtain to the purpose, will I always be in a position to reinstall then at some future date reinstall or repair again with precisely the same trick?
No - cellular phone simply creates windows. NO installation, CD or elsewhere, copies that image you could find. That was a manual, or separate, step someone did separately.
I read your prior article about this, but my situation is little different. I received some computers from the company like a result of a workplace closing. The computers are running Windows 2000 and need a valid login account to accese I dont have a very valid account. There is usually a Windows XP Professional product key sticker around the side with the machine. I would like to fit a fresh version of XP Pro utilizing the key but I dont possess a disk. What are my options?
Youll require a CD. You can utilize one CD and rehearse each machines product key as situated on each sticker.
MAY YOU ANSWER THIS QUESTION PLEASE????
YOU CAN ATTEND TO REPAIR THIS FILE BY STARTING SET UP USING THE ORIGINAL SET UP CD-ROOM.
SELECT R AT THE FIRST SCREEN TO START REPAIR.
If you cant even boot into safe mode or recovery console, then you will need a CD of some kind.
Just to allow you to know i been able to figure it out.
I were required to change the sourcepath AND move the 1386 directory as sfc wouldn't locate it EVEN though the path was correct.
Sfc has since went from start to finish WITHOUT once demanding though you didnt get round to replying that it was still this web site that got me going inside right directioneventuallyGood stuff!
If you've got the i386 directory you then should look at a program called nLite. You put the i386 path in nLite, make any tweaks you wish within the program, this can create a burnable cd image to suit your needs. Using this method you'll be able to make a whole new XP cd. I do recommend, however, to generate a copy with the i386 folder and employ that because the path since nLite makes all the modifications directly for the folder you provide. So if any errors happen you will still employ a clean i386 directory to assist.
my hard drive crushed i dnt have support what i do?

Why one thing years ago they will provide a hard disc on the Windows now they simply supply a card together with the key code written into it? I would like to acquire an original hard disc of my os - Windows XP home edition. How can I attempt getting one and never have to go into a computer store or some other sales venues and buying one? Ive paid correctly once when I bought this why cant I get one free????
You mean a CD, not a hard disk drive. A hard drive is whats positioned in your computer already.
This is usually a choice that manufacturers make to economize. You should contact the manufacturer of your respective computer and insist that they can include a CD in the OS once you purchase your machine.

I haven't any Windows XP CD along with the jerk who built my PC would not image the I386 in my hard drive. All I desire to do is change a method configuration option, however, if I try and do this from Control Panel I get prompted to insert CD/give path which I don't possess at all. This is often a pc with Windows XP Pro. I do have another CD with Windows XP Home at a different PC. Can I borrow that one or will the Home/Professional difference nix this?
Id try it out. If it functions, it truly does work. If it fails, it wont harm anything. Im guessing youll must get or borrow an XP Pro CD
Im in precisely the same position as everybody else here. I cant even install the Recovery Console, for Fs sake!!!
Is there noplace you'll be able to BUY a stupid Installation CD for the body somewhere??? Sheesh!!!
Depends entirely on in which you got your personal computer. You can always obtain a retail copy of Windows from Amazon or any other places.
I have realized i386 folder in C:windows incase it assists anyone.
Contact the company or wherever you purchased your laptop and receive a Windows Installation CD not much of a recovery CD. You need one.
Hello, I hope you'll be able to help me! I purchased a laptop for my b-day, that it was used with new harddrive and with xp windows. Now microsoft is telling me that my windows is just not legal, after 7 mos. of owning it. My computer features a product key for windows and says its right but microsoft says not. So now I am to obtain a new xp windows cd and re-install windows and loose every thing in my computer that I installed. I thought that you are able to only put xp on once, aches and pains ? this legal for anyone who is simply making it by, I am a mother of two and single and using a budget that I cant go and spend 150.00 so I can use my computer. Is there anything I can do? Thank you Diane
Reinstalling Windows certainly doesnt imply you will need to lose crucial computer data or the rest youve installed. Backup first to save important computer data, and reinstall your other applications in the event the Windows reinstall is complete.
If someone sold you an illegal copy of Windows, youre kinda stuck. Depending in your usage, you could potentially investigate Linux free, but likely you will need to bite the bullet and acquire Windows.
I desire to upgrade my pc from windows me to microsoft windows xp. Is it anywhere I can download the xp setup disk?
That could be illegal. You need to buy one.

This worked perfectly personally now i will update programs, run messanger, and do other activities on my small media center machine without bothing those who are viewing television.
Tried this and yes it works awsome, though it can only allow 3 concurrent connections although 12 connections are set in group policy.
Anyone are conscious of how to have 4 11 connections simultaneously?
I thought this became something different.I was able make use of Remote Desktop before every one of these hacks. What I thought it was planning to do will be to allow me to watch television or something more than a remote desktop connection. Alas it failed, I m undecided what all on the above hacks are meant to do.
Matthew, where I know, you cannnot view television via a RDP hack allows someone to have approximately 3 RDP connections in your MCE box basically allowing that you log in going without running shoes while watching television onto it locally.
Great solution. Works equally expected!
Worked like no bodies business. although I ran into a small problem but that was easily cured. you didnt mention anything about copying the modern dll for the system32 directory and so i just deleted the earlier dll, did the reg and gpedit changes, then restarted. RDC didnt wish to connect. long story short I were forced to manually copy the brand new dll to your system32 directory and manually start within the terminal services service. Beyond it works similar to it should. Thanks for an amazing tut!
do i actually need to reboot to safe mode or it s ok to kill svchost, disable shutdown and copy dll?
how should we know this file isnt hacked or something like that? I m not saying it's, but can this file appear in server 2003 or somewhere on MS site? I would rather understand file from MS directly or from a set up of a MS product.
John, you don t. I don t make any warranty concerning the file. I have used it and in the event you think that's good enough than go because of it. I am getting married in 16 days, so I really don t have enough to track the file down for you personally. Good luck.
John: No, it s not the Server 2003 DLL which, doesn t work. I believe it s a earlier version in the file from XPSP2 RC2 or something that is like that.
There are a number of other alternatives around, I personally selected TerminalserverNoRestrPatch by AntiWPA dot org dot ru which worked flawlessly for me personally, and made it happen automatically. I tested it and got as much as 5 concurrent users didn t think I d need more than that

No mention on the utility is manufactured anywhere during cellular phone, but it's included with Windows XP Home Edition. It s just important to do a manual install to get ready it for usage.

As always, I strongly suggest you find out about any update just before installation, especially updates carrying a lower than Critical rating, and use a current system and data backup accessible in case it s required to restore the system to some pre-patch condition.
The Elder Geek sites contain many articles and recommendations for modifying the Windows os. Ive tried these tweaks and tips about many systems. Sometimes they work, sometimes not.
