The idea that I had to get this to begin with made me upset, because my computer was gimped by a unique operating system. The netbook I bought this for included a 64-bit processor and windwos 7 starter 32-bit. As a netbook buyer, I was disappointed to locate that Microsoft thought so little of my opportunity they only included a half an computer - Windows 7 STARTER? I decided maybe I was being cheap somehow, so I dedicated to the upgrade to Windows Home Premium, and after this Im asking myself WHY. One of my old software packages did not focus on Win 7, and it's also no longer supported, but I needed to put it to use. Research explained I could produce a Virtual PC operating on XP but only from Win 7 Pro. So I bought the unlock code. It worked fine. I have now created Virtual PC and may access my needed old application in that manner. Couple minor problems. First, a Virtual PC is a separate PC. It will not have having access to the antivirus software installed around the Win 7 PC. Fortunately my ISP offers free downloads of Norton PC. Laptop had McAfee I would not want it as a consequence of my free having access to antivirus from my ISP, but I had no choice. So I are in possession of the main laptop protected by McAfee and also the Virtual PC protected by Norton. Upgrade downloads occur separately and require separate reboots to consider effect. There is no conflict since they're effectively two separate computers. Second, Win 7 has separated screen resolution from font size, two functions joined in XP. I got such a new desktop from Dell in June with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, moving up coming from a desktop which have Windows XP Professional.
