If you get the DVD or download the ISO on the system running 32-bit Windows, your DVD or ISO is likewise 32-bit. This will only install 32-bit Windows.
If you get the DVD or download the ISO on the system running 64-bit Windows, then a DVD or ISO may also be 64-bit. This will only install 64-bit Windows.
2. Run the downloaded file.
3. If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Continue Vista or Yes Windows 7/8.
4. After a moment, the upgrade assisitant will check to view what is compatible within your current Windows for Windows 8/8.1. see screenshot below
5. When finished, you'll be provided with the fact that was found. Click/tap for the See compatibility details link to learn more. see screenshot below
6. If you like you may Print and/or Save your compatibility details. When finished reviewing, you are able to click/tap on Close. see screenshot below
If you wish to reset the compatibility details to begin with fresh, then close the Windows 8/8.1 Upgrade Assistant, delete the hidden folder below, you need to over at step two above. I would recommend which you click/tap for the View Receipt connection to Print or Save a copy of the order summary that includes your products key number for safe keeping. NOTE: Remember that this product key number is what you really are purchasing. Without it, you will never be capable of activate or install your purchased Windows 8. Be sure to help keep it within a safe place like a backup.
If you've got already downloaded an ISO file together with the upgrade assistant just for this same edition of Windows 8 you obtain now, and they are just purchasing around 5 another product key number for this, then you'll be able to close the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant now to prevent having to go over the download process step 17 below again.
You can utilize the same ISO to setup and activate with each product key number.

C You can now continue with the rest from the onscreen instructions to upgrade to Windows 8/8.1.
21. To Install by creating media
A Select dot Install by creating media, and then click/tap on Next. see screenshot below step 19
B Select dot to generate U SB usb drive or an ISO file, then click/tap on Next USB or Save ISO. see screenshots below
C Follow the rest on the onscreen instructions to choose where you wish to save the ISO file at, or what USB drive to make use of.
D When its finished creating the ISO file, click/tap on Finish. You can now build a bootable installation DVD or USB using the ISO file in case you like.
22. To Install later from the desktop
A Select dot Install later from the desktop, and then click/tap on Close. see screenshot below
When you manage the Upgrade Assistant, celebrate a Websetup folder below with your user account and computer made up of the files needed to build a Windows 8/8.1 ISO and never having to download them again. The Upgrade Assistant also places an Install Windows shortcut with your desktop. If you have the Install Windows shortcut, it will become the Upgrade Assistant at step 19 above where you are able to choose everything you would like to perform again.
If in college step 20 above, then obviously these files will no more be available on the computer afterwards.

I do however provide an issue which isn't covered above. I have a Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit system which is being upgraded to Windows 8 Pro 64 Bit. The Update is purchased and product key generated, the ISO file burned to DVD and also the upgrade commenced.
Upon reaching Step 8 higher than the ONLY option available is Keep Nothing. At this time I should add which the Windows 7 setup was clean set up on Audit mode following Karis excellent tutorial with all the C:Users folder relocated to D:Users together with the various user documents folders Pictures, Music etc. relocated to custom locations on the location tab in each folders properties.
As the customised Windows 7 Setup fulfills my needs perfectly and is also 100% stable I would like to prevent a clean install with the re-customisation that can be entailed, an area widely promoted by Microsoft.
Can anyone suggest a solution OR a valid workaround that will preserve the customised folder locations, apps, settings and private files in the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro??
Yes, its due for the nature within your custom Windows 7 installation for why none of the usb ports is capable of be carried over through the upgrade of Windows 8.
Is there by any means to work around??
Im not aware about one, and you might build a separate thread due to this in Installation Setup to find out if someone may know of any workaround.

Then after W8 Upgrade Assistant got done showing me Heres whatever we found I select next. I obtain a blue box with Windows 8 isnt readily available for download. Sorry Windows 7 isnt readily available for online purchase within the country/region youre in. I live in Northern Michigan, USA. Any ideas?
Im upgrading a PC desktop, Philips MT1800 that may be running W8 release preview without the need of problems. But when wanting to upgrade form Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 placed on this pc or from Windows 8 Release Preview, the upgrade assistant says You need to fit at least 1 GB
I am currently running Windows 7 and merely downloaded and run the Windows 8.1 upgrade assistant. Only were built with a couple of incompatible issues, though the upgrade assistant stated I must reinstall every one of the compatible apps and drivers! This didnt seem being the case with all the Windows 8.0 upgrade
I must purchase and download Windows 8 but having a differenet computer versus the one which it will be installed. I do NOT desire to run Upgrade Assistant. Is there a hyperlink to purchase an download with running this extra program?
