I love Windows 7 but my experience activating whole process almost was under optimal. I installed clean over XP with an older machine. I allowed it to complete a clean install as I had already removed everything I wanted to retain from your PC.
Everything went fine until I started finding the warning message to activate my copy of Windows. I tried entering and reentering this product key about the disc envelope. Each time I got an oversight stating that this key was invalid.
I aquired online that most people fixed the matter by activating via telephone MS support. I clicked START and typed slui 4, right-clicked and chose Run as administrator. I was given several to call MS you could have to choose your country and it provides the 888 number to call.
You should read 9 teams of 6 digit numbers to the phone. The system then provides a bunch of numbers you could have to enter in the bottom of this window. The system also mentioned how many PCs I was installing this which seemed weird since I assumed these folks were all for the single install. When I clicked the NEXT button, I got successful message and am now officially activated.

I chose to put in this window 7 operating system on my own laptop also it installed all right and as expected. The CD came with all the genuine Microsoft product critical for register the operatoring system with Microsoft. Good for starters computer and re installation onto exactly the same computer if I have to. Keep this product key just should you need to reinstall later. I chose windows 7 over windows 8 because doing so performs solid. This CD already includes service pack one.

The disk that I received is really a Dell OE DVD. I performed a clean install erased the disk using a Lenovo T60 laptop.

Works a brand new clean installation on a well used Dell Poweredge 400SC server from 2003 a Pentium 4 2.4ghz with 4GB of memory. To keep Win 7 from slowing me on such an existing machine, I put it with a new 240GB Intel SSD drive. When installing, pick Custom Drive Options. I gave Win 7 your entire drive, all using one drive partition.
I had no problems activating Win 7 online, although the important thing code sticker would have been a little hard to read. The DVD had not been as fancy as my old Win XP CD which had a tremendous hologram around it. Pretty plain packaging.
After install, really the only device it failed to recognize was my Soundblaster Audigy 2 card, as well as the stock graphics card driver for my old Nvidia 7600 GS was from 2009. For example, I did a Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade, no issues. It did do 181 updates once installed along with the whole process would have been a couple hours. All is very rewarding, faster on program loads. One thing I did notice, there have been half 12 or so new non-microsoft programs installed in addition to it reg cleaner, performance boosters etc. that clearly were crap. I underwent control panel and un-installed all non-microsoft apps that had been installed on the same time. All is nice.
