I purchased most major os's from Microsoft since Windows 3.1, some being absolutely horrible Windows ME and many being excellent Windows XP. I happen to be using Vista since its release and im not very happy from it - its sluggish, a resource hog and has now given me driver and software issues.

I a difficult time wanting to upgrade from Vista. I kept getting unknown error or cant create directory for update files. Eventually I disabled everything running inside the system tray - spysweeper, anti virus, and my background backup program. The install also asks that you un-install itunes. After this, I was capable of update seventy one home computers. You would think it could well be easy for Microsoft to detect these problems and give you a decent error message - or include it inside the installation instructions.

For now, you'll find two caveats, Id give with upgrading from Vista:
1. If you used Vista parental controls to filter internet content, that's no longer available. There are controls for games and blocking/allowing specific programs, yet not for internet content. You must find your third party solution. Net Nanny is normally the highest rated vacation solution and runs 40 per year.
