Just whenever you think which the PhlatBoyZ idea of Quality CNC for that average Joe cant get any better, IT DOES!
A few things contributed to the naming of this 76th show, but youll need to give it a focus on understand the primary

And finally, a hyperlink not discussed within this show, but promised inside the last in the e-QSC Build Videos - the best Covering Tutorial Ive seen as of yet!
Due to plans with friends and relations this weekend, Ive made a decision to cancel this weeks show. No worries, though - very well be back in a few days with our normal RC chatter.
ALL countries use a Fourth of July. I hope all of us have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day! In this 75th installment 75 already??, after we have a few little news items out in the way, we obtain to hang out a tad with fellow PhlatClub member Shaun 3Dmon Frank. We learn that Shaun, a fine 3D pilot together with apt RC Aircraft designer, has generated a website for your sole reason for sharing his wares with all the world!
Additionally, Ive uploaded videos 9 and 10 on the e-QSC build where I cover some pushrods information, mounting the wing towards the fuselage, and building and mounting the empennage. Have you started YOUR e-QSC yet?
After last weeks LONG weekend trip Im finally way back in my workshop with Dorsal joining me for your 74th installment. Tune in for a lot of reflection of last weekends fun, talk of an new RC-based forum, another visit from The RCadvisor, and talk with the fuselage build for your e-QSC.

What a fast paced week its been! In this 73rd installment, Ill share with you it, along with a cool event I attended. Next week well get back with all the RCadvisor as well as the e-QSC build, in the mean time I we imagine you enjoy my tales and the cool links:
Hey gang! This is just a rapid note to inform you that I will probably be taking a seven days break through the Scratch-Build with the e-QSC. The reason? I am venturing out of town enroute to Slater, MO for SPADFest 2010!
Before I leave, however, I am thinking about starting the state Build Log at RCG to pay this project. I have already been working diligently to construct a second plane so I can shoot the many necessary photos for that RCG thread, and I have practically finished the wing portion on the build in order that the thread are going to be caught up on the videos. Whew! This is really a LOT of work! LOL
The next podcast, if all goes as planned, will probably be detailed coverage of SPADFest. Im not really going to have enough to find some plastic prepared to fly, and can have cameras and notebook available to give this cool event the protection it so deserves. Remember, that it was the SPADders that basically first taught us that materials apart from balsa could possibly be used to contruct our planes!
So, get those e-QSC wings built, but seek to refrain from starting your fuselage as of this time, since I incorporate some neat items to show you with this - you can't be building on the plans because of this part!
Its been a lively week within the workshop! LOL Please join us immediately for some home elevators a number of upcoming events and news on newer and more effective products available these days. Our buddy, the RCadvisor Carlos, is backagain immediately to discuss the possible use of Carbon rather than balsa parts, too.
The meat of the weeks broadcast? Well, the Scratch-building Club has officially started! This week, we build the wing to the e-QSC! The total PDF Plans and Templates package is obtainable on my site, and the initial four training videos to help you along are stored on YouTube links below.
Additionally, I have developed a new Listeners Stuff section to your support site to ensure I possess a place to exhibit the photos on the cool issues you guys send in in my opinion! If youve got a fascinating build you wish to share with everyone whether its a balsa or foam build, outline your pics and Ill have them posted!!
In this 71st installment, we discuss Dorsals progress and newest acquisitions, a very good site I found cardboard? REALLY?, Larrys Blue Foam Wonder as featured in Park Pilot magazine!, the RCadvisor talks a lttle bit about scaling down airplanes, and I supply a couple more great suppliers of balsa kits for Corey from last weeks show.
As well, th kitten is out with the bag! Ive been kicking around the notion of online tutorials that can help more people uncover the magic that is certainly balsa, but Fred a really talented balsa builder lit the fireplace beneath me so were off. Its usually a great summer!!
Oh, and before I forget, heres your grocery list!
If your financial allowance allows, acquire a small sheet of 1/32 ply, too. Its perfect for strengthening!
Buying the sizes Ive shown above, youll involve some scrap left. I actually used many 3 wide planks, but rather than increase the risk for list too confusing, Ive just shown 4 stock. Its better to possess some left over for an additional project instead of be short and ought to postpone your house session!
If you are doing NOT employ a local hobby shop to acquire this stuff from, at once over to considered one of my favorite foam vendors that now sells balsa at inexpensive prices - RCFoam!
In our 70th show, we dip into your ol mailbag and share some listener emails. We talk a tad about engine tuning, some real kit suggestions, and many Desktop CNC options. DATELINE: Toledo, OH, Saturday, Aril 4th
The plan ended up being to go fly a tad at the RCGroups Open Flying session following the Toledo RC Show closed down with the evening. We would then retire time for Mark and Trishs accommodation and set up to get a live version of TheCrashCast. We would use Trishs new laptop and wireless card along using the webcam that has been broadcasting through the skies in the PhlatBoyz Booth. Well, the cast was slightly delayed as a result of someone ahem! forgetting the energy cables for said laptop. LOL
Nonetheless, we achieved a LIVE webcast. albeit just a little behind schedule. This weeks installment can be a replay with the audio from that session where we discuss what sort of PhlatPrinter MKII was received during its public debue. We also discuss some with the cool things we got at the show, along with neat people we met!
Ive got plenty of information out of this show that I intend to tell all of yourself, but well must cover it in the future episodes. Im totally BEAT from your 19 hour drive back! LOL I did, however, want to acquire this audio up for individuals who missed it. We had very exciting recording it, and I hope you take pleasure in the listen.
After numerous years of wanting to attend, Im finally bound for that Toledo Show sponsored with the Toledo Weak Signals club! Ill be leaving Wednesday, April 1st, so my countdown offically begins. If youre going to attend this show, look for your big ugly fellow lurking about the PhlatBoyZ booth and wearing a T-Shirt emblazed with TheCrashCast logos. LOL
In this installment, Dorsal and I talk about some gap-filling procedures for when parts just dont quite fall into line as planned on that balsa model youre taking care of.
Also, the blueprint is governed by bandwidth offered to broadcast next weeks show live via UStream from my support site. Remember to listen up LIVE next Saturday, April 4th, at about 8pm-ish EDST!
I needed to share a fast little video I shot this morning along guys within the subject of Z Bends to your control surface linkages. I wont use Z Bend pliers, as the approaches I tried in years past yield an extremely narrow area for the servo or control horn and so they do not present you with true 90 degree bends just like you need for bind-free movement on the surface. I learned this system from a vintage modeling friend and still have found it to get priceless! Look for more vids down the road covering how I make pushrod assemblies, including a total Carbon Fiber Pushrod
In order to enhance my little show when Im on an outing, I thought we would get some T-Shirts printed up.
Rather than doing the traditional silkscreen thing, I figured I would try out your inkjet method that Printfection offers. I received two shirts in today and I must say, I am quite pleased using the quality that they can offer - so pleased, in reality, that I chosen to open up just a little store to ensure that any of yourself listeners in existence can order them and sport them at YOUR favorite RC events!
If youre interested, click around the link below and look them out. Ill be wearing the White and Sport Gray versions these shirts in
After my call for most 60-sized kit suggestions a week ago, Ive received many suggestions for kits that I should think about for my Thunder Tiger Pro.61 engine. Thanks for these great responses!
I snagged up a different compressor from Harbor Freight that works well great! Heres the web link:
Also, Dorsal brings up the good tool hes been using to take out the edges from FFF tool conceived by RCGroups 66tbird as well as the interesting by using that little bit of scrap thats left! Heres the link to the tool:
What? A little history lesson with this episode?!? Well, you have a little of everything with this particular show!:
Im using a quest to obtain the perfect sport-plane to get a Thunder Tiger Pro.61 engine that I have, so Im looking to your account guys to report that perfect all-around, Sunday flier. Remember, I dont dig ARFS and I dont want for getting into warbirds. I am seeking something that can serve being a Fun Fly plane, handle some winds, be floaty at the same time, and hold as much as some stick-bangin! Right now, the Perfection would be the top consideration. Email me your suggestions!
Additionally, I talk in regards to the Lanier Stinger 10 kit that I will become building soon. I are already unable to find anything about Lanier RC about the interwebs - it appears that they have got gone broke! If you already know anything concerning this, drop me a line. Id prefer to know what happened. I have enjoyed many from the Lanier planes above the years and it is a shame if theyre gone forever!
Well, Spring has sprung! With that during my neck in the woods it means how the winds are probably likely to be fierce until regarding the end of June. Whats a modeler much like me supposed to perform? Switch returning to Nitro, thats what!
I pulled out a number of Nitro-powered winners from my hangar and, after in regards to a three year absence using this aspect from the sport, I found it had been just like riding that ol bike. Winds arent so abusive towards the heavier Nitro planes, so it appears like Im no longer usually an electric-exclusive pilot, all things considered!
In this ninth installment, Ill speak about some must-haves from the flightbox for the Nitro nuts in existence!
In this 8th installment, we get every one of the dope for the new MKII PhlatPrinter CNC straight from your PhlatBoyZ, Mark and Trish. Expect to discover this bad boy tearing up some foam at breakneck speeds in the Toledo show! Also, the PhlatBoyz will probably be launching slightly contest to produce things interesting at the PhlatForum - youll would like to participate in this particular for your opportunity to win an excellent prize!
Id want to hear your comments for the audio within this episode - their PhlatBoyz and me are endeavoring out new microphones. I think theirs sounds great, but I now should investigate constructing a small dampened environment booth to own best audio on my own end! Im clipping a tad due to getting the gain set a lttle bit too high, but Ill try to have the levels a bit better for the next show - WOW this things sensitive!
After finally working out how to airbrush as a result of RCGroups ADreher!, I had success a week ago with painting my SloFly Micro 22! In this installment Dorsal and I discuss finishing approaches for all of the foamie airplanes - especially airbrushing.
While the Micro 22 was actually nothing more than an airbrushing test-bed, it been found so nice that I were forced to complete it. Below is film I shot on this little planes maiden flight on Sunday, 2.22.09, however if you got a chance to YouTube, you will notice it superior in High Quality.
I also reach release some hot info on our favorite CNC machine. Trust me, youre gonna wish to hear that one! Sworn to secrecy, Ive been holding through to this part of information for many years now and I hafta say, its been KILLING ME! LOL

If you are not seeing the header with this page, its something screwy using the Internet Explorer application. This site views fine in FireFox, Safari, and in some cases Safari to the iPhone go figure!. Im still waiting for most technical support through the fine people who I am paying to host and publish this show.
In this installment, Im joined by my building partner and I talk regarding the kinds of tools I use, my preferred workbench surface, as well as other various items that could be found around my shop.
In my third installment I use a couple of guests inside workshop - Mark and Trish aka The PhlatBoyz. We shoot the breeze for the while discussing the PhlatPrinter, flying, the elements, etc. I got to test some indoor flying with my two newest planes and have absolutely included links to prospects videos. Also, my Steals Of The Week segment includes some very nice solutions for charging your batteries.
I apologize up front for a lot of sound quality conditions may be present with this episode. I ran a noise filter to cut back some serious background noise Darn you Skype! which resulted in certain, well, shall we say artifacts that arose. Remeber, there is usually a slight learning curve for me personally! Thanks for understanding.
In this installment I talk concerning the Swap Meet I attended last weekend, some in the planes Im working away at including my versions on the Mini Arrow and Leadfeathers PBF, and I answer Joes question about the hinging methods I use.
Hurray! Ive finally got the primary installment of TheCrashCast up! In this episode, I give thanks where theyre due. I also talk slightly about my indoor flying session my first flying for 2009 along with bring you a few of my renowned Steals Of The Week.
