I am having a Logitech G9 mouse and running VMWare Workstation 6.5.3 on Vista x64. The guest OS is Win XP, and has probably the most current version of VMWare Tools installed. Leftright buttons and mouse wheel scrolling work fine from the guest OS, though the backforward buttons are apparently not recognized.
I have tried installing the Logitech software inside guest OS likewise, but it really still failed to recognize the backforward buttons. I didnt really expect this to function since the guest OS doesnt actually start to see the mouse hardware like a Logitech G9 directly anyway.
I vaguely remember seeing something quite some time back about editing the virtual machine config file to specify a 5-button mouse instead of the default 3-button setup, but I cant manage to find any specifics on tips on how to do so inside the VMWare documentation.
