Update 3: Do not buy the product. It is now a total waste of money. Microsoft not supports it. It will apt to be OK on the Win XP machine, nevertheless the file dialog is broken on Windows 7, plus an application designed in VB2010 killed my Vista machine.
I rebuilt my Vista machine, but Im about to toss my copy of Visual Studio 2010 Student Edition because its no more supported. And, I cant put VS 2012 on my own Vista machine because its only perfect for Win 7 and then. Thanks Microsoft Not!
Ive been maintaining a credit card applicatoin at work that was designed in VB6. VB6 is OK, and Im accustomed to its idiosyncracies, yet it is only supported thru Windows XP, therefore we are moving to Windows 7. I got this device as it was the newest release by Microsoft in order that it should be supported over earlier versions.
I had Visual Studio 2010 Express installed, and didnt uninstall that before I installed this version and kept getting Unhandled Exceptions. I uninstalled everything, then reinstalled this version of Visual Studio, plus the unhandled exceptions still happen but dont crash my Visual Studio session, and so are a lot less frequent.
A word towards the wise: If you might have any part of Visual Studio 2010 installed as a possible express version, uninstall it before installing Visual Studio 2010.
Also, for anyone who is s with Visual Studio 2005, or 2008, they wont help Visual Studio 2010, so keep those applications.
One thing I miss that's in VB6, but isnt in VB2010, could be the ability to directly create control arrays. Due to varied reasons I wont enter right now, I just now upgraded from Visual Studio 6 to Visual Studio 2010. As expected, it can be a lot of work to convert all of my projects, but worth the cost. The dev. env. is a lot improved except to the resource editor, that was better in VC6. Im a specialist C programmer and possess been one since 1990.

Ive done VBA programming for awhile and I chose to take the plunge programming, primarily with Ive had this for just a day but I am extremely impressed using the robust features and on-the-fly developing support tools it really is. The only reason Ive jumped the bandwagon and ditched VS2008 for 2010 was the extra support for MDI 4.
