I employ a test box setup with Windows 7 so that as a test I installed Virtual Box and XP as virtual box. Visual Basic 6 or VB6 has yet stuff/issues and works as expected in this Virtual Box see to ensure that is the extent of my testing.
This test box will get a fresh video card above the next week and Ill seek to install VB6 in Windows 7 then but NOT before. Remember its just an exam box we've got here and Ill try stuff should there be a time to achieve that.

Hi Sam, Bob, among others. I know it is really an older post but I thought I would update it as there is some mis-information about this thread. VB6 does the truth is work great with Windows 7. That said you need to play by several of the new rules Microsoft has executed for security purposes. Most notably you have to run the VB6 IDE in admin mode and you have to make sure your programs may be also ran in admin mode or only communicate with files and resources they have got permission for.

Do not believe VB6 is fully works with Windows 7. I thought it was until I used my VB6 program a whole lot and some strange things started happening. For example, a GET at a Random Access file runs fine, soon you ask it again for just one of the retrieved variables through the GET, and suddenly its from the different record. Detailed graphics code sometimes skips the previous couple of steps within the procedure. None of such problems occur from the interpreter mode, however they are found not until the code is compiled. If exactly the same compiled code is run inside the XP SP3 compatibility mode the issues do not occur. I tell my clients running the executable inside XP compatibility mode, but they usually do not like the UAC prompt that develops before the code executes. The problems appear inside executed code running under Vista and Windows 7 64 bit. I have not tested Windows 7 32 bit
