Once upon a moment, CD-ROMs as well as other optical discs provided the much-needed space for storage that hard drives lacked, however with terabyte drives, shuffling disks inside and outside of your tray is simply nuisance. SlySofts Virtual CloneDrive is really a free tool that can cause up to 15 virtual CD and DVD drives in Windows. You can copy your CDs and DVDs for a hard drive as ISO disc images and run them normally with Virtual CloneDrive. Instead of swapping disks inside and out, you can easily mount and unmount disk images by incorporating clicks. Virtual CloneDrive works together with any type of optical disc file, including HD video formats like Blu-Ray in addition to audio CDs and data discs.
Installing and establishing Virtual CloneDrive includes choosing which file types to accompany the program, if any, using a compact Settings dialog tab that also includes language choices. According to your programs manual, many may see warning messages about unsigned drivers and logos, these can be ignored. Setting up our first drive was easy, we werent sure the project was done, when we looked in Explorer, our new virtual BD-ROM drive was present and available. We could reopen the Settings dialog in the programs System Tray icon, which accessed the Help manual and Mount/Unmount controls for each and every drive. Virtual CloneDrives choices limited, but they are all useful; as an illustration, you'll be able to set it to automount the final image mounted, buffer the input and output, and let the Eject command to unmount image files, exactly like ejecting a disc.
We created an ISO image of countless discs. Next we clicked Virtual CloneDrives system tray icon and selected our virtual drives letter. From the drives submenu, we clicked Mount, browsed to a ISO image, and selected it. When we returned to Explorer, our new virtual drive displayed its contents. Copied CDs and DVDs played normally in this usual player. Unmounting images is equally as easy. We could also clear each drives History or simply purge images which are no longer easily obtainable in the History. Virtual CloneDrive is really worth trying.
From SlySoft: Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves the same as a physical CD/DVD drive, nevertheless it exists only virtually. Image files generated with CloneDVD or CloneCD could be mounted onto a virtual drive from a hard-disk or coming from a network drive and utilised in the same manner as inserting them in a normal CD/DVD drive.
Change: Windows 7 uses scsiport driver as an alternative to storport, fixing rare compatibility issues.
Fix: ElbyCDIO wasn't restarted after uninstall.

This review is a lot more about the install procedure compared to the product itself. I was not wanting to install this program given the reviews about unavoidable adware. However I found its potential to do a clean install is but one is very careful. What appear to be take it or let it sit accept/decline offers pertain merely to the adware, not the exact product. By declining these kinds of offers the installer finally runs and since far as I can say so far isn't going to install other software.
Works as intended, simple use, not bloat.
Download Now Installer is perhaps all bloat. Only use Direct Download Link if downloading from CNET.

I didnt install so I cant talk with what crapware the exact program is set with. but s installer app incorporates a browser hijacker and toolbar installer. It doesnt provide a way to not put them to use, it eludes for an option to not believe the terms there is however no strategy to check a box to suggest that you go along with the crapware. It just installs. Its a very important factor for the publisher to obtain there crapware, but also for to force their very own in there's despicable.
Avoid it just like the plague, in reality, leave of this website at the moment. Cnets a higher level sellout has reached a whole new low. Not only are their hardware reviews bought and taken care of, the good news is they are available of forcing adware on your computer.

Works the same manner advertised.
Instead of experiencing to burn a CD, I just attached the look as a drive. Saved me while using a disk. There was no adware that come with this software.

IIIFFF You decide to download with this site you select the Direct Download Linkunderneath the herpes simplex virus loaded CNET Installer enableddownload I honestly recommend just using another site generally when downloading now, this page has gone downhill.
Hijacks your browser. Difficult to remove. The driver isn't digitally signed and won't even install properly on newer versions of Windows anyway.
Cmon Cnet you are designed to remove programs from a site the contain I chose the custom install and unchecked your box to install the malware however it installed it anyway. And after you uninstall the toolbar through control panel it doesnt revert all modifications.
I am pretty disappointed with, I have been using this great site for my trial and free software for more compared to a decade now and exactly like always I installed whatever I downloaded from with no hesitation, merely to realize later I had malwares, registry optimizer crap along with other crap set up on my laptop. I couldnt remove some with this through McAfee or Windows Defender together to use Windows Essential only, as well as then I am afraid there maybe some residual relation to my system performance.
Neither installer or any disclaimer from CNET informed me on this crap in advance,
This is my work machine, I have informed everyone during my company and definately will continue informing others on web 2 . 0 and forums to beware and possibly not download anything from anymore

Have you ever wished you experienced an extra Hard Disk to save files, share, or set aside for an encrypted vault? One with the new features in Windows 7 is the cabability to create Virtual Hard Disks and now we ll demonstrate how.
This process creates virtual disks in format the location where the minimum dimension is 3MB. To begin, Right-visit My Computer and select to Manage. Alternately you may type in to the Start search box and enter.
The Computer Management screen opens click Disk Management then Action and Create VHD.
Browse towards the directory you desire the disk to call home, select the size you would like it to get, and select dynamic or maybe a fixed. If you wish the disk to flourish in size when you add files going without running shoes, then pick Dynamically expanding. Check Fixed size if you wish a specific size as well as it to be that way.
In Disk Management you'll see the virtual drive listed as unallocated space.
To start employing it you ll ought to Right-click and select Initialize Disk.
In the initialize disk box just keep MBR selected colliding with OK.
Now it truly is time to develop a volume by Right-clicking the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume.
The New Simple Volume Wizard starts up and yes it s only a matter of completing it.
Choose the volume of space you desire to use to the volume.
Assign it a dive letter that is just not currently being used.
Format the brand new volume as NTFS, FAT32, or FAT. Check if you wish a quick format and file compression.
The wizard is complete, select Finish.
If you've AutoPlay enabled it needs to pop up that you open your new virtual hard drive.
It will probably be listed while using other disks in Disk Management.
Of course you will probably see it listen under My Computer.
This is really a cool new feature which will let you utilize disk when you would any sort of real disk. You can encrypt it, share against each other to other systems, store files to ithowever you would use another disk connected on your system.
This is often a cool new feature in Windows 7 which will add extra functionality and options for your current system. There are several ways you are able to use your VHD including so that it is bootable. If you might have used your geek imagination and have absolutely come program unique ways to work with a VHD, leave a comment to share with us concerning this.
Brian Burgess worked in IT for several years before pursuing the romance for writing. Hes been a tech blogger and journalist with the past seven years, and might be found on his about me page or Google
I m confused: what can happen whether it were bootable? In reality, it s merely another file that lives inside the file system in the OS, right? How would the BIOS know to make use of it?
i m guessing bootable within a virtual machine? vhd continues to be the native virtual pc format for any few years now
I am confused. Why would I want this for any single machine? I can understand a chance to copy and reuse the VHD on other boxes but in addition to that I see no benefit. What am I missing?
Richard, I ve got several virtual machines on my own work machine, and I can easily see how being able to produce a drive, write whatever data I want with it, and after that unmount it so it may be used by the virtual machine will be a great tool or vice-versa.
Still don t see what good it really is to mark it bootable, but whatever.
Full volume encryption is not a brand new concept I m using it right this moment. There is usually a custom boot loader involved, which only knows to ask to get a passphrase everything is encrypted. Search for volume encryption therefore you ll get the products offering it. I m using BCVE because it s got the most effective features supports RAID5 and until now has been incredibly robust.
Otherwise, you don t see explanations for VHD? Security. Store your documents, pictures, etc, there. If someone steals your personal computer, they ll ought to enter your password to begin to see the encrypted partition.
You can edit the BCD on top of that the VHD. A approach to test out another os without borking your 7 installl.
A reason may be so can run Xp and try windows 7 as I did or or viceversa.
Thanks alot with the help, only had the jist from the idea, though with your help not problems.
Just an instant question however, wouldso would I let the drive to own automatically? I had somewhat trouble there.
I just made a virtual hard disk drive on my laptop the good news is that I make it, I am wondering, how do I erase it? Is it as easy as deleting file? I figured I d ask before I tried it
Thanks for almost any help it is possible to provide!
Nice tutorial! I think Do you think I can employ this Virtual Drive as being a recovery drive? Using your tutorials:
1. How to Create a Virtual Hard Drive in Windows 7
a. Diskpart, list disk, select disk 1 VHD, clean, create partition primary, select parition 1, active, format fsfat32, assign, exit
3. How to Create a System Image in Windows 7
a. build a system image and place around the VHD
b. develop a system repair disc just for that repair disc files
c. xcopy the many repair disc files for the VHD
4. Choose boot device at startup F12?
What may be the real point if making a VHD? I don t have it. Can somebody please help.
One on the advantages is the place where trying to back your hard disk to a smaller one.
First you make a VHD precisely the same size from the original hard disk you want to support then clone it to your VHD.
Second, lessen the VHD partition size for the one on the smaller HD and clone it towards the smaller HD.
There a variety of reasons to make a VHD on the single machine. As Mos described, you may use the VHD being a portable storage location that may be easily backed up which has a single file and transportable to your machine that's Virtual PC or Windows 7. In addition, together with the encryption capabilities your files feel secure to transport without worry of an individual else accessing them. Think of experiencing a massive amount client or sensitive digital material that have to be transported from computer to a new. This has to be perfect transport medium.
I m wondering when you could make the VHD with a 8 or 16 gig thumb drive.
I Followed exactly the same steps given, it can be created,,, after restart it really is disappearing
I ve seen a similar issue with secondary drives on virtual machines. The secondary drive ought to be reactivated. Not sure why, but I keep loosing my secondary drive.
BTW, Undo disks just isn't enabled.
I have my windows 7 ultimate and cant get the Create VHD while i press the Action tab, pls help:
btw. what location can i select? im running windows 7 ultimate
To Koi: First select Storage and Disk Manager from the left pane as shown within the 2nd picture inside article then you'll found it. If you may need further help pls send me an e-mail.
VHD s become unattached to my second disk drive after shutdown also.??????????
I followed the instructions for the T and after reboot the virtual Drive disappeared? How do I reclaim the disk space allocated or reinstate the Virtual Drive??? Please Help!!!
I followed instuctions, but they can not create file. computer error: the pathname for virtual disk need to be fully qualified. I am running windows 7 ultimate. what am I doing wrong.
Another idea for your use of my dropbox I guess. keeping my college files secure. there exists probably a lot of easier options for doing this, but yeah. I ve just realised I set the disk drive as 20 gig. thus, useless on dropbox. epic fail, much.
nevermind, it s now at 2 gig. As long as I can allocate the drive within the other pc, i believe I m all set.
Pretty basic and direct. I was competent to create my virtual drive within ten mins. Thank you very much.
Thanks allot dear. very great tip thank you!
Why can we need so bad VHD to generate I do not understand the point everybody talk precisely the same most people delete or have problem I think is wonderful for laptop not for desktop I use Win 7 Ultimate I would like to able press F8 boot-up my computer with drivers if my computer crash Microsoft should give lesson or post video to the people not everyone are smart none individuals ask or arrive at this page.
I desire to increase harddisk size but not to make use of the existing harddisk space. Do anyone have idea to raise the dimensions of my harddisk
I m using Win 7 Home so that it doesn t allow network backups. Following this tutorial I designed a VHD on the network share and voil

Mount an ISO image in Windows 7, Windows 8, 10, or Vista
Enter your email below to have exclusive access to good articles and tips before all others.
The freeware utility from Microsoft to mount ISO Images doesn t work with Windows 7 or Vista. Thankfully there s another utility that does.
The utility we will use is named Virtual Clone Drive. This utility will permit you to files. Download the utility and initiate the setup process.
Select Yes or OK on the hardware prompt and continue. You might need to restart your laptop. Now you should manage to mount any ISO image simply by double-simply clicking the file. You can also right-click about the cd-rom drive to mount or unmount a photo.
Notes: If you are gonna reinstall this utility, you should definitely uninstall it first, or maybe you ll BSOD yourself repeatedly. Also, as from the latest version, this utility should develop Windows 7 or Vista 64 bit edition.
Alcohol 52% Free version of Alcohol 120, but it really bundles a browser toolbar they claim isn t spyware. It s unacceptable.
Daemon Tools Well known tool, however the latest version installs spyware using your laptop, plus the old version doesn t work with Vista or 7.
At this time, Virtual CloneDrive is certainly my favorite free utility.
Ever since Windows 8, it s worth noting that ISO and VHD mounting was made right into your operating system. All you need to perform is right-click, double-click, or select and makes use of the Ribbon to Mount an ISO image. It s simply that simple:
Once you ve done this, you ll begin to see the ISO mounted as a different drive in Computer. You can right-click there to unmount once you re done.
Lowell Heddings, higher quality online because the How-To Geek, spends all his spare time bringing you fresh geekery with a daily basis. You can follow him on Google if youd like.
Daemon Tools creates Vista aswell.
The warning about Daemon Tools is completely true. I actually have a very very old version of the usb ports, from before they added the spyware, however it doesn t work all of that well.
After having used Virtual Clone Drive for a little while, it s a real great application. I ve had no problems by any means with it, and yes it s a lot easier to work with. Not to mention being fully free.
Deamon Tools v3 is just not compatible, maybe v4, but there is often a spyware inside it.
Virtual Clone Drive, costs nothing, easy make use of, and do exactly a similar job as Deamon Tools.
and work effectively on Vista. Unacceptable will be the right word because of it.
Unacceptable could be the perfect word because of it.
I do not know why people enjoy Daemon tools a lot. Everybody I speak to uses it. I guess everybody I speak with also has spyware on his or her machine.
Myself, I m a cheerful user of Virtual Clone Drive.
There are Blue Screen of Death difficulty with virtual clone drive and Vista. It s a terrific program and all sorts of, but it really s just about ready for Vista. There s a post within the slysoft forums about them about to update it after they release the HD version of AnyDVD.
Sorry as a lesser geek here, however i installed VCD we can t have it to load any ISO images. I employ a full version of Nero 7 recently released for Vista, however it s Imagedrive doesn t benefit Vista, therefore i thought i'd try this.
I ve not had any difficulties with Virtual Clone Drive. I m using it using a bunch of different machines without having issues. as long when you don t make an attempt to reinstall it over itself.
Tried to own Virtual Clone on VISTA ULTIMATE 64 error msg. are unable to run program with this version of Vista! please supply an allternative! thank you
Use alcohol 120, works in Vista and incorporates a right click mount option for the drive icon.
Alcohol 120 can be a great utility, but it really s not free, so that it s certainly not a solution for all of us.
Any other ideas for Vista 64? I have been perfectly satisfied with MagicDisc from MagicISO with this task, but driver won t load properly in Vista 64:
According with their website, MagicISO now supports Vista 64 I don t have 64bit version attached to my machine with the moment, so I can t test against each other.
Anybody desire to try against eachother and let me know if this works?
Note that I still prefer VirtualCloneDrive for normal users, given it s a lot easier to utilize.
Alcohol 120% might not exactly be free, but there's indeed a complimentary version of exactly the same program named alchol 52% that enables upto 6 virtual drives which is much more than enough in my opinion. Another limitation is that it isn't going to burn images into optical media like 120%. I don t mind that either. But I gotta warn you. After a recent update of my beloved AVG Free Antivirus, blue screen of death begun to appear whenever I attempt to mount a picture. So I uninstalled AVG Free and installed Avira s Antivir Personal Edition Classic: Another recommended freebie antivirus.
The question for you is, does Alcohol 52% work with Vista 64?
Now that I consider it, Alcohol 52% is NOT free if you do not want to setup some toolbar that appears like spyware crap for me.
I recommend not inatallation.
This program sounds great, but I will warn all who download: although mounting discs is usually a great strategy to save dvd s/cd s, this may also cause many BSOD s, so please develop a system restore point before installing this kind of software. Also, be aware of any system files it uses, believe me, this can save you hours of grief.
I keep hearing people mention BSODs with ISO mounting software I ve been using these for just a long time, without ever creating a single error.
I aatest that Virtual Clone is often a very nice, clean product. Works great. Only wish I could affect the icon in the disc its some goofy looking sheep!
If you open the Virtual CloneDrive from your start menu, there s an solution to turn from the Virtual Sheep, which will eliminate the icon.
Errr About Daemon Tools. You can actually choose not to setup the spyware part Search Bar from the setup process. I have it placed on my XP machine and it also works perfectly well, without so-called spyware. If you ask me, simply a moron would blindly click next in different software installation nowadays reminds me of MsgPlus! adware thing until they changed the setup process.
Daemon Tools needs to have simply made the merchandise commercial and charged a few dollars for this. It s unacceptable to help them to bundle spyware in every form, even when they enable you to remove it.
Spam and Spyware should NEVER be tolerated.
DT continues to be considered the first choice of protection emulation, so I don t mind for something that they can don t force you to set up in the first place.
MagicDisk crashed my 32-bit Vista.
This is perfect after losing Nero s ImageDrive in Vista. I ve been using NRG2ISO to convert my old stuff
I ve heard varying quantities of success with MagicDisk that s why I m sticking while using VCD recommendation.
OMG It works! Thanks alot, alcohol 120% didnt go a long way! But this works perfect! Thanks!!!!
VCD doesn t work flawlessly. While looking to xcopy from a picture mounted with VCD, it absolutely was impossible to try and do so. Daemon Tools however accomplishes this fine, and has all of the cp emulation too. I also found the icons folder to unravel my main gripe with this program, that being the ugly tray icons it has.
MagicDisc isn't going to work on Vista 64, it carries a yellow bang alongside MagicDisc SCSI in device manager. I m hoping someone could figure out how to have it installed.
Ok, here s a fix to permit MagicDisc to perform in Vista x64
In command prompt, execute each of this commands:
Reboot laptop, and reinstall MagicDisc
Found you that has a search ASK today, I think, although I usually use Google. Loaded VirtualCloneDrive and installed it immediately. Wasn t quite sure tips on how to respond on the select your hardware question during setup but selected really the only available option and ignore it ahead. Figured if I didn t select anything, which has been offered just as one option, it might search everything for the system Anyway, it proceeded to completion without problem, at which I wasn t sure what to perform. Looking back with the article I generally don t close all of my open programs when installations figure out to I realized I should obtain the ISO file and double-select it. I expected to obtain a mounting dialog what drive letter, etc. but rather it immediately planned to autoplay the DVD image I d recorded. I sleected Media Center as being the option or higher it came. GREAT ADVICE! THANK YOU.
I will tell you that DAEMON Tools 4.09 X64 works in Vista 64 ensure that u find the second version X64 not X86.
Also vital that you untick the Search Bar when installing or it'll place adware for you computer. If you forget you may uninstall the search bar later from Control Panel- Programs and Features. and that is the new add/remove thingy.
7Zip will mount ISOs too, its free also it spanks WinZip and WinRar whuile it's at it.
I agree that 7-Zip is the very best archiving program around. It does well at file manipulations on ISOs, but after looking on the help files plus the forum for their web site I found no chance of mounting an ISO by it. I ve installed VirtualCloneDrive in this little Vista Home Premium system and still have not had conditions that I m sure got their start in it. I have had system freezes when I use Media Center to experiment with DVD images that I ve mounted just as one ISO, but I ve had a similar thing happen with your DVD within the drive, so I think it s an issue with Media Center.
I ve read that MagicISO and MagicDisk work fine with Vista. So I installed and crashed Vista Home Premium. Had to completely restore.
so that is an opened question towards the floor HOw can i achieve that if daemon and clone wont even install on my small OS?
I will tell you that DAEMON Tools 4.09 X64 works in Vista 64 make certain u obtain the second version X64 not X86.
Also imperative that you untick the Search Bar when installing or it'll place adware giving you computer. If you forget you may uninstall the search bar later from Control Panel- Programs and Features. that is the new add/remove thingy.
I d just like a command line based tool that I can script the mounting and unmounting of virtual CD s, doing this my kid can double-click an icon that is actually a cmd file that unmounts the actual game and mounts the selected one
What do you could have against VirtualCloneDrive? It s not command-line based, nevertheless it already is simple enough for your kid to utilize. Just double-click within the new ISO image, and it also replaces the existing one. Standard auto-start options apply too.
I use UltraIso to create, burn my ISO files. It includes a Virtual disk application with good shell integration.
It still works following trial ends. Its only 29 for your Pro version and it also includes lifetime updating!
Just downloaded and tried to put in Virtual Clone Drive 5, my PC BSOD d around the install my first BSOD with Vista Home Premium
Was capable of recover without the need of long term nasty effects by loading from last known good configuration.
I ve been using Virtual Clone Drive for many months now under Vista Home Premium. My version is 5.1.4.5. I don t know the reasons you d receive a BSOD.
Latest News, MagicDisc can function properly on Windows Vista x64. Now I can mount iso file on windows vista x64.
Can these programs be taken to copy system files on the Vista install DVD in your C drive?
I got MagicDisc for Vista-64 Intel Dual Core 64 w200G raid on Intel D945NT MB directly from your link posted above forkart on August 16, 2007 8:11 am plus it installed perfectly and hang up a tray icon. I test mounted and accessed folders and files between many iso files. Works great!
I am using PowerISO on Vista X86 Ultimate without the need of problems. Can mount ISOs, read and modify ISOs, create ISOs
WHOOAAA thanks dude, I realle had to mount images on my own computer
I just would like to say that Magicdisc by MagicISO works together Windows Vista 64.
You should look into FantomDVD. It will allow you to operate as many virtual devices as you would like and it is very rewarding in Vista. Also it has an easy to work with management system.
PowerISO creates Vista Ultimate x64 perfectly. It has a lot of features with it as well that several of the others don t have with all the exception of Alcohol120 maybe. You can mount all the style formats, and at exactly the same time explore either the identical images that happen to be mounted or any other images. I ve used MagicISO, DaemonTools, and many others when I ran XP Pro I need to say that PowerISO is my favorite also it actually conditions x64 systems. While I don t about the other options seeing as how eventually I ran each one I do recommend you might try PowerISO within the others.
And in addition. to The Geek your comment is usually a bit ignorant I mean this inside most non-offensive possible way about 64 bit Vista is pointless at now in history, since half it doesn t work towards it. That is so far on the truth. I am not big on Microsoft, and I ve ran several distros of Linux along with other OS too BUT I trust giving credit where it's due. Vista x64 Ultimate will run most situations. Anything it won t run usually incorporates a more superior alternative that Vista x64 WILL run due on the fact that you may make better programs for x64 architecture. The blame doesn t fall on x64 Vista or x64 XP even it falls about the creators of the software program. x64 architecture is significantly better than 32bit and also the authors of the software program need to leave their asses and step nearly the plate and make the software program run on either architecture for the present time and eventually they need to go to x64 only and have rid of 32bit altogether. I am broke as hell most from the time and I have 3 kids to back up and a woman with expensive tastes with a broke budget yet I STILL use a PC running x64 Vista Ultimate and all it I need to try and do anything I could possibly want in my PC. There is not any excuse with the PC world to never step as much as x64 and phase out 32bit excluding pure LAZINESS and being cheap. I have most of Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office 2007, every one of the top-rated online games are placed on my PC, WinRAR, a lot of programming software, ftp clients, and that i even have classic games like The 7th Guest and System Shock 1 and a couple installed and so they ALL RUN. Now if I can manage a game from 16 years ago on my own PC which was supposed to set up from DOS prompt that has a CD on the 32bit machine, I have trouble believing that x64 Vista won t run half it out there because you put it.
1 x64 Vista is made for serious PC users only. Those that aren t skilled at by using a PC and utilizing Windows should stick with x86.
2 Some software has to be set for the right Compatibility settings under its properties running correctly as the creator of the application won t log off their ass making it x64 compatible. yet Vista remains able to perform it in the event you know what you're doing.
As I said earlier, I m not really a fan of Microsoft. I could list a thousand flaws of MS to complain about like how they can be forming monopolies for the markets using Vista to push you to buy Xbox 360 controllers, also belonging to Microsoft, for Vista in the event you want to work with a game controller with many popular games but don t blame x64 architecture or Vista or XP x64 Pro for the purpose is the program creator s fault.
No offense taken I wrote this article within the very beginning of january, when there actually were serious driver problems most manufacturers have since added drivers, however, not all.
I believe people don t exchange signal of 64-bit because in the volume of software written for 32-bit, particularly office environments. It s information about backwards compatibility and risk.
By the best way, your statement about freeware utility from Microsoft to mount ISO Images doesn t work with Windows Vista just isn't correct. It would possibly not run on 64 bit systems however it runs fine on my own 32 bit Vista systems. Been utilizing it since December 06.
Virtual clone drive in concert with some of computers with Vista with the company wonderfully but some computers really totaly crash after which we have to make use of te repair utility to have them back our health again.
So for all of us it is just not a reliable tool for implementing with Vista. A pitty considering that the tool is straightforward and - when non of such problems occure- an extremely fine tool.
Where the condition is? Really don t know, all of us use Vista using the latest updates and also the newest version of Virtual clone drive.
MagicDisc from MagicISO works great in my Vista 64-bit installation.
Virtual Cd works fine in Vista. Just remember to right click and run as administrator
Deamon tool works fine. But there can be a big symptom in VISTA. Deamon tool create virtual drive being a 0: 1: 2: etc. which is just not display in Computer. Then tips on how to open the CD/DVD image after mount the virtual drive? I install Alcohol 120% inside my Laptop which can be VISTA OS. During installation, Blue Screen in open with Physical Memory Dumb. Each time I open my OS either Safe mode or normal mode, this screen is open and there exists no hope to copy my previous state
I m still happily using Virtual CloneDrive, about the if-if-works-don t-fix-it theory. It creates numerous drives while you request, starting using the letter you specify. I realize that I actually exclusively use one; I keep my iso images during one directory, and doubleclicking one automatically mounts it on my small first virtual drive. The change immediately occurs in Computer.
Comment 1 to Debabrata Hazra: You say Deamonsic tool works fine, then describe problems from it, it is possible to t open the virtual drive. Sounds in my experience as though Daemon Tools isn't actually working very well whatsoever! Possibly you could potentially type the address in, 1:VIDEOTS and discover it because of this. But why would you need to? Why not just select a different solution, like Virtual CloneDrive?
Comment 1 to Debabrata Hazra: search for another option as an alternative to Safe mode; hopefully you may get to some command line and restore the system coming from a restore point.
I m pretty very happy with Vista, although I hope MS does indeed come out with some fixes soon. Nearly half on the programs I install is not going to run, usually producing the xxxx has eradicated error. Sometimes, if this turns out to become Data Execution Protection error, I could add it to your list of programs I ve excluded from checking for your. Sometimes, as inside case of the Microsoft product called Internet Explorer, it just will never run whatever. Good thing I have the power to switch rendering engines for just a tab in Firefox; which takes care of those few offensive sites that only run using IE.
Sorry to blather on. Good luck.
Nice and Been creating a big problem with your iso files in vista but this time its resolved!
Debabrata Hazra I had the very same problem. Here may be the solution:
When it s booting, select F8 and judge last known good configuration.
Then once in windows, immediately open cpanel and uninstall it. Note that should you select any option on the boot menu, it can try to load the motive force on boot and perform the usual blue screen.
I needed am ISO mounter for Vista, googled and discovered your site. VCD is one area I have used with an older machine but forgot about this. Thanks with the reminder.
Elby and Slysoft products rock. I have owned CloneDVD and AnyDVD for 4 years roughly and these are very nice. Product updates come out on the regular basis.
PowerISO works best to me on Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Its a straightforward utility without any added frills and toolbars, addware etc.
VirtualCloneDrive is hands-down the most effective ISO utility I have found. I manipulate it for several years and still have yet to locate one feature I do unlike. Easy-to-use and basically idiot proof.
I only agreed to be going to let everyone realize that PowerISO works well for and in some cases though there can be a pro version, the trial will without having problems, just will not permit you to open an iso spanning a certain size or create an iso on the certain size. Works great personally on XP and Vista. Set your choices how you wish, but you may add it towards the context menus in windows explorer and everything.
I m running DaemonTools in Vista x64 with virtually no problem.
Daemon tools is loved by a great number of because it does exactly what it truly is supposed to and absolutely nothing more.
There are 3 flavors Lite, Personal fee-based and Pro fee based. The lite version is sold with spywareadware whatever you desire, but YOU HAVE THE CHOICE TO NOT INSTALL IT AND STILL USE DAEMON TOOLS
It works, and it also works well.
Thanks alot for that tip, mounting iso s hasn't ever been easier if you do not happen for being using linux:o
Can Vista Basic 32bit or any Vista OS be cloned and what software or methods has to be taken in order to produce this happen.I have looked and tried many ways to try and do this but MicroSoft Vista is different its B disk structure and moved some files so you cannot perform a definite clone which is boot ready now I really know what your all thinking why would this person would like to clone his OS and not bkup restore well I would should say that in the event the law permits us to clone One exact copy of the movie DVD for backup then have you thought to an OS let's admit it the price tag for your Vista Hog is large dislike that of your 30 I know of merely one way nonetheless its to much of an pain from the ass can someone point out an effective solution with software and I mean software which says its Vista Ready and really isn't and I think everyone know what I mean and not mention those software names please feel free to tell me and or direct me to your site or software or forum that could show me the method to clone this % Hog over rated over wanna be OSX with all of the bells and HoHaaaa love Linux Mac but we have been stuck to use Windows you receive what I mean please I don;t want to perform Vista within an XP VM Shell window thats not for me personally it works but I want bona fide CLONE VISTA no friggin around with copy protection athentication Paradox-Clony great work from those just One simple process to clone an excellent no hair pulling and click on and Clone clone clone ok thanks alot with and if I had my way Vista would be alongside my the 32 bit 64 bit trash where it live free the Clone Masters of yesteryear and don t be offended by my not loving this new OS bye from Zebra it s not what we they can assemble it we can rebuild it better and our is a great one yes? unless your a programmer who is employed by BGates don t think he got where he or she is today without cracking some thumbs of his or her own peers along how later all.
Acronis True Image will work what you would like. Probably later version of Ghost too, but I haven t used Ghost for years
I suggested Acronis TrueImage, but don t see my post
Thank-you Bill Condie Thanks with the info on ghost and TI however have tried them both with shall I? no luck thus far.
But ghost 2002-3 seems to acquire abit done if the willing to tweak nonetheless I have zero simple single click option software for cloning Vista like I did with earlier Windows OS.
I know there'll soon be described as a work around as I have observed in some forums including the well put together Tutorial by Mudcrab using a site in which I cannot remember right this moment but nevertheless takes numerous time I don t think an average joe would know it that well either. I used a plan that cost get rid of then 39 called Dvd DriveClone it really works easy cheap and anyone can use it with little comp exp this system works great even so the new Vista ready version will not likely clone back it makes a great clone on the eye when you look deeper it's some missing and moved files too bad this method blows ghost out of the door and TImage I mean wise its easy to use,,, within my oppinion it provides you with all the identical that more programs still this Vista Clone problem is during my face.I have 8 computers all which I run XPpro apart from one Mac and One running Fedora and one which has a dual boot 98se and 2000 combo for my very own 2 notebooks I have ontop of those mentioned are Vista bundled with basic and there complete slow running hogs without any place to go but my working together with them is essential so I reached deep into my wallet for my daughters sake and bought yes paid with the damm Vista Os not some ISO over web torrent version that I now wished I had done since I would've saved myself some time to big bucks with an OS that sucks I know I got a bundled ver but once I attempted to clone it wipe over forget about os with no restore its in the factory and in addition they told me its your issue your software packages are nolonger under warranty simply because you tried for making a copie of figure any particular one out my problem time my computer my paid clone software and my right for making a backup under the laws of however they screwed me over and created me feel just like a criminal well if I really wanted my OS becoming a hack ISO version I could undertake it within thirty minutes but no I went properly and bought the damm OS and from now on I can t clone it I can t get rid of computer no money back,,,, and heres the notebook is often a Toshiba Sat and you'll be able to forget about putting XP upon it the %%%% drivers are nolonger currently held by the Toshiba here I am stuck which has a comp and Os and clone software that combinded together add nearly one hell of your mess and a whole lot of lost and Vista as well as the new computer companys can all go kiss my new hacking ass they generate people go towards that end with there bloody greed and laws that work in that room favor not the love hackers I hate the corps which make us buy there mistakes happening its the greed that bytes them within the ass I am waiting out my time for your Vista Clone a single click hack its comming remember that its already inside all on the rising Hackworth Team when you buy it someone will just go from you inside a flick click out your going zebra was here. Hello, just needed to add that I installed MagicDisk on my own Windows Vista Ultimate x64 flawlessly. You just must press install anyway in the install prompt because driver is unsigned. Besides that everything operates by mounting several ISO files as you desire for free and without spyware, yay!
After installing the application form, I used the free MagicDisc The program resides with your taskbar notification area where you are able to mount files. The program will basically produce a virtual DVD drive having a designated letter usually E:, F:, G: so on you are able to select one particular virtual drives and mount a graphic. After this the files can be found through Windows Explorer while you would normally do so which has a physical Cd or DVD. Hope it will help.
I have tried virtually every ISO loading program I can find saying it in concert with windows vista 64 bit. None have worked to date. I keep geting whole body Windows are not able to access the Disc, the disc might be corrupt and any other signs Every ISO I have tried are working just great in Windows Xp. I have tried several work arounds I have read about the net and still have yet to locate anything that works. I am running Windows Vist 64 Ultimate final release. If anyone incorporates a working solution please tell me. Very frustrated!
Ok, seems like I may have it working. Seems many of my iso files had gotten corrupted some how. After returning to college on Xp they were not loading. Loaded up some backups I burnt to cd and to date all is working even Vista 64.:
Hi all, I just install latest WinRar trial v3.71 plus it works acceptable for handling most compressed files and will even open ISO file within a snap. I copied the iso file to HD first though because I hate it when it's got some errors within the middle of reading from CD/DVD directly. And no, I m not from WinRar company or it s salesperson lol:p, I must pay in the event the trial perioed expire, darn you WinRar!!
Chondro, try 7-zip. I like it a lot better than WinRar plus it s free. But both of the provide only a method to access the files in the ISO image, not only a way of executing software as whether or not this came from your CD or DVD. For that you just need such as VirtualCloneDrive, also free. That way if you could have an ISO image of something, a sport or movie, you recently mount it within the virtual disk and your personal machine thinks the particular disk may be inserted right into a drive.
once i mount a image into VCD the year progresses into my computer to throw open the game plus it says,
the disc could possibly be corrupt, make certain the disc uses a
format that windows recognizes. when the disc is unformater
you ought to format it before making use of it.
Running Vista Home Premium, had Daemon Tools working for a little while always shakily, then suddenly it stopped. Rather than be arsed to understand why, I downloaded MagicISO and it also worked seemlessly. Thank you How-To-Geek for ones list of suggestions. It s nice you list a number to choose from on your web site.
I recommend MagicIso as Daemontools moved spyware.
I still like VirtualCloneDrive. Been deploying it forever, now. Works great. I don t even need to think over it.
Magic Disk have right now launched an x64 edition, for many you around who got the 64 bit Vista platform.
I had daemon tools on my small laptop which can be new and included vista basic and it also didnt work.
New users to Vista often don t know that almost everything is run to be a regular user. You can right click on this system icon or start menu entry to acquire additional options. One of the is Run As Administrator. Sometimes in the event you run the installer to get a program for an Administrator you may avoid needing to authenticate anytime you run. Experiment.
I didn t notice using replies but Alcohol 52% offers a free of charge version now. You can choose not to set up the toolbar if you would like. No spywares, at the least not that I know of.
URL for virtual clone drive, doesn t appear to be anyone else posted it. The link inside article is dead.
Thanks for the comment, updated this great article.
I can not understand why people break their links it merely baffles me. Seems like they might want people making use of their software.
Guys, after i mount the iso image and try to operate it, Vista keeps telling me you would like be an Admin to instal the program. Pls help
Right Click Run as Admin option isn't show after i right click for the virtual drive.
If the content comes if you try to run the look, it s not because with the virtual drive software but the whole picture itself. Perhaps the look you mounted is often a new os or something such as that? Perhaps you learn about installing Ubuntu from the inside of windows and are also trying out?
Anyway, the challenge is coming from the software program on the disk image. If you right click for the virtual drive, there needs to be an replacement for explore the drive. Try that, to see what s on the look. will show you what program runs when it really is started much like when you insert a cd into your real drive. If you really need to try the software program on the whole picture, right click on this system listed within the autorun file, and run that as administrator. Just be careful. Sometimes there s at this moment it requires an Admin. Don t do it if you don't know what you're doing.
I love Virtual CloneDrive it truly does work fine and I have zero SpyWare found inside.
It assist vista and it is easy to setup and set.
Hi, i have not used virtual clone drive before, on the other hand am a consistent user of Daemon Tool, also i don't LOVE Daemon Tools, i only downloaded it because everyone uses it and it conditions my Vista Perfectly.
The version of daemon tools i have doesn't have window! it s just an icon within the taskbar you right click! You should try it Geek
I am really impressed with the replies! you respond to Nearly everyone in most of one's posts
man thanks for those your help.
I tried Virtual Clone Drive for a little while now. But if I permit the pc run 24/7 just about every day it had recovered from the blue screen. I searched what caused it, and never think it is. Until today the location where the blue screen was still being showing on my own screen. It was causes by You can guess where this sys is associated with.
I was running Vista business 32bit all latest updates and VCD 5.3.0.1
Daemontools V 4.0 and then include mandatory, unseperatable adware/spyware, however versions before that instead were sponsored when you're bundled with adware/spyware applications within the installer that might be easily prevented from being installed, that versions work great on XP. However, I do not determine these versions focus on Vista.
I ve been a lover since I first discovered it.
Suddenly it offers stopped working.
How the heck do I uninstalled that to test!
In XP, all you could d have to try and do is enter into add/remove prgrams.
Vista is crippled Mac-style, so I doubt you ll be able to perform it simply without using system restore. However, I have limited knowledge about Vista. For starters examine the programs and updates applet inside Vista cpanel, examine the show updates box to investigate SP1 within the list. If it s there, uninstall it.
Hmm. u guys examined the poweriso thing?. perhaps it conditions vista. but it really has some issues now i suppose like windows explorer restarting wen u seek to mount file. has anybody else tried this poweriso thing?
Plasmafox wrong. It is separable you just need to make sure you don t choose to fit it, 8and don t allow it set your house page and don t encourage the toolbar.
Bill Condie fan of Daemon Tools? Have you updated your SPTD recently? It works to me in my Vista install Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Vista Ultimate 32 bit, Vista Ultimate 64 bit by having do you wish to uninstall SP1 or uninstall DT, that may be the question I have to know from you finding out
I don t have DT, but another thing must have been taking.
I just did a clean update to Ultimate also it s working such as a charm again.
I have installed DT and it is working fine. I do generally dont hit next button during installation but I forgot what I did over the installation of DT. How do I know when the spyware is installed? Please suggest me if there's any.
Virtual CloneDrive keeps saying installation failed in this little machine, im running windows vista and not 64 bit
oh plus the new daemon tools hasnt installed spyware on my own system, i've got scanned my computer with 3 anti spyware and malware programs plus it found nothing
I use Phantom CD to mount ISO. It works well in Vista 32-bit. I don t know whether it works in 64-bit Vista.
Sure, it really is possible to perform the Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel in Windows Vista. The problem is that you simply always ought to run as Administrator and you may only begin to see the mounted drive underneath the Administrator context, which implies via a Run as Administrator command promptbut not inside your user s Windows Explorer context. As a result on this, not only does the tool not serve as I need results, however it also requires me to perform the app in the less secure environment. by Greg Steen
Much like USRF s experience, I have Vista 32-bit and Virtual CloneDrive, and I run my comp non-stop, but whenever I come back into it overnight or back from work, there s a good BSOD waiting to me saying the condition is in, and interestingly, it is comboed having a DRIVERIRQLNOTLESSOREQUAL code. Its still not really that big connected with an issue personally as this works greater than others I ve found for Vista. Hope this can help someone.
Just wait my business is making Nero image drive working under vista. just wait some days my business is working about it .
I recently purchased a brand new computer running windows vista 32 bit. The first thing I wished to test on vista was alcohol 120%. I finished installation and suddenly. Blue Screen Of Death. My new computer was stuffed. I tried everything to fix the issue but deemed it too difficult with only 20 secs for the desktop ahead of the BSOD appeared again. I ended up requiring you to wipe the computersystem recovery and initiate over.
Hi SNIPER77 i recognize u r problem. open system properties with right visit my computer icon. then open advance system setting. within it open startup recovery setting. now just uncheck following clicks,
Now just open start, all programs, acceseries, command prompt. with administrative rights just right visit it select run as administrator now paste following command
now press enter. now just restart pc. u did it but dont forget to inform me thanks because i needed it much
Just installed Virtual Clone Drive on 4 brand-new e-machines runnings Vista. Works great.
great tutorial, couldnt did it without your help,
i just attached to my windows vista basic. it asked 4 reboot we obliged. but this time system cant boot i tries every option within my boot option safe mode, last known good configuration. but nothing helps. plz help and quickly tooo
Boot with vista dvd then select repair then choose system restore. then go with a restore point before installing of poweriso
Daemon Tools would be the only 100% complete virtual optical drive software. Yes the freeware version bundles some software which you may chose not to setup. Just uncheck the suitable checkboxes.
If you like to guide Daemon Tools the proper way you'll be able to purchase Daemon Tools PRO which isn't going to come with any spyware or ads.
I think you must update this information to reflect this. I m not just a representative from Daemon Tools. I just desire to help out by informing people about better software. I too would have been a bit vary when I saw the bundled software but a majority of successful software today is sold with extra software simply because get paid top dollar to try and do so.
I dislike any software that attempts to push some spyware nonsense on me.
I also find VirtualCloneDrive being nice and easy make use of, and no cost. I ve also used MagicDisc for 64-bit, which isn t as friendly but works alright.
Your article might be updated Virtual Clone drive has supported Vista 64 since August.
The newest version of Virtual CloneDrive has added support for Vista 64 bits.
Virtual CloneDrive 5.4.0.6: 2008 07 31
New: Added support for 64-bit OS, Windows Vista 64
Many internal changes and improvements, new driver
Thanks for your, updated the post.
Thanks for your post along with the update.
Tested version Virtual CloneDrive 5.4.0.6 on my small notebook running Vista Home Premium 64 today, plus it worked without need of an reboot.
Thanks for mentioning this brilliant computer program. Free, simple, and well-maintained. Awesome!
i use a few images plus they all mount just some of them still say they might need a cd whilst the others work fine. the dont develop clone drive in any way. im currently using daemon tools. any solutions for any noob?
I knows that the Microsoft freeware utility to mount ISO images /kb/916902 does indeed help Vista Business SP1.
Virtual CloneDrive worked beautiful on Vista Home Basic to me. Installed within a matter of minutes. Mounted my installation disk no probs, and enabled me to fit all my disk images from my external hard disk drive in seconds!
Much faster than messing around with CDs/DVDs!
I still find it kind of dumb they include spyware of their program. I mean it s not merely a wrong and invasive move, nevertheless it s rude, as well as on top of that, arguably the very least efficient strategy to go about things; I mean, spyware is known as malicious so will probably avert a majority of downloaders.
You think Daemon can easily themselves achievable spyware stunt?
Now that I am running Windows 7 more predominantly than Vista, I should say that VCD does the position it doesn't have several of the more savvy options for example emulation for games so I don t have to make use of the original CD
Excellent suggestion. VCD works just like stated. Real breeze. Great mounting option for your inexperienced at the same time. Thanks to the recommendation.
Since it hasn t been mentioned yet, WinCDEmu is usually a great computer program for mounting CD/DVD images and works in XP and Vista.
Today is a final day to acquire VCD without cost.
That message in red applies for their paid software.
So i files on my own harddrive that i would like to play though VCD i simply have audio when tinkered with WMP am i doing something wrong?
does this work with windows ultimate 7? cant seem to obtain it to be employed by me atleast
Haven t read all of the comments so I can t say if this may be covered but, it works together Vista 64-bit. v5.4.1.1
Does this work together with SecureROM? I employ a few games who have SecureROM with them curse you EA for getting out BioWare! and I ve heard some pretty bad reasons for SecureROM and ISO mounters. I cant hold off until they know that it s rubbish and find a different DRM:P
Has anyone used Deamon Tools with Windows 7 along it work. I have tried 4 different versions now and have absolutely yet to have the capacity to get effectiveness. It just wants me to reboot again and again. getting no where fast.
Joe Currently, the SPTD driver is just not compatible with Windows 7, hence DT will not develop W7.
As for anybody else who says that other products work yes, they certainly, and I am currently using VCD however they don t develop the emulation like SecureROM so I can make ISOs of y games and play them without having to have a stupid crack or no CDDVD fix with the game.
I have dual 500 GB 32MB Cache HDs and these are infinitely well, nearly faster over a DVD drive, and DT allows me to experience games like Mass Effect, GTR Evolution, and The Witcher Enhanced edition without having to utilize anything else. VCD and these other products simply don t support that sort of emulation.
Finally, the DT free version does come bundled with questionable software but that's easily disabled from installing.
loved this great article, great program, thanks! was very successful on vista 64-bit
John Galt Thanks, I had not read that article. VCD worked well for mounting the ISO s. It just isn't quite a similar as DT but it really will do.
I am currently running Win 7 x64 on my small Rampage II mother board using the Core i7 processor running because 2.9 Ghz overclocked and 6 Gig of triple channel ram 1600 mhz. Video card could be the MSI 4870 1G of DDR5 ram. Things like Grid will run set to their maximum even with precisely the one 1TB SATA 2 HHD.
Does any know when Dt is projecting using a fix due to this. Or is this an issue for MS to mend in 7.
I d been very satisfied with VirtualCloneDrive for just a long time, but I m running the Windows 7 x64 Beta. Ultimiate. And VCD froze things.
So, I just opened the iso files using another computer that s networked to the one, and remained silent. Then, looking from the comments here, I decided to use MagicISO. Wow. What a cool program. It installed without any problem, and I ve opened and accessed an ISO file being a disk drive. I ll try something more complicated later, but I won t post again unless I run in to a problem.
Thanks for your advice. It was a pleasant surprise to find out something that actually was ready for Windows 7.
Joe as to get a W7 version, the major problem that I see will be the compatibility on the SPTD driver for Windows understanding that comes from DuplexSecure. AFAICT, the DT app as is must have no issues using the services of W7 because it works perfectly fine with Vista, even 64bit version as I ran it on Vista 64bit for months.
cwg I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit in my system, and possess had absolutely no difficulties with VCD in builds 6801, 7000, and 7048. A lot of people say they have encountered problems but to date I have not stood a single one thus it might be system specificOEM specific issues. I am guessing the second, as OEMs usually include stupid stuff like Roxio and its particular DirectCD component which just isn't pretty at all using a Vista class machine or older.
well I want an authorised alternative sourcesite which can inform Daemon Tools has spyware. I can t think that, you are first someone to say they have spyware.
I really don t think the challenge is with VCD or Deamon Tools. It is always underlieing issue. Nomatter the version, it can be still Windows.
Vista 32 here, cleaning it once a Virtual clone, i used daemon and another too however get the identical problem. The drive gets created even so the Virtual clone graphic isn't on the drive letter. And with every one of these programs ditto. When i mount my iso it simply opens up files and wont start a true mount
I have used the application and it truly does work flawlessly. thanks for posting it.
Hi.I downloaded Windows XP PRO SP3 VistaVG blackblue ultimate StyleSATA-Raid,it is inside format of DAA it stated that to mount or burn in iso or something that is, on this file, a software came in conjunction with the above file, which could mount or burn yhe file.i deleted it and just had the DAA file, Windows XP pro file is OS.i want it in bootable or execuitable please help me the best way to convert it into bootable cd, so i can install the OS in on the for my english.
Hi BhanuPrakash. To burn daa file u need gburner.
Mac, did you attempt several different iso files and still have this result with most of them? It seems for me the most likely reason you can buy a must format error could be that the look you mounted has not been good. Try an iso image you downloaded, as an alternative to one you created on your own machine, too. Just in case. Also, when you haven t rebooted already, do this.
Windows and several third-party software loves to keep ISO files linked to archiving utility software, so that you'll be able to browse files, or cd burning software, so that it is possible to burn a picture to a cd/dvd. If you would like to mount an ISO to Virtual Clone Drive you may should find the iso file in Windows Explorer and RIGHT-CLICK onto it. There should be an choice to Mount with Virtual Clone Drive something like that similar. Pick that option, and also you should have the look mounted around the appropriate letter.
Also, when you need burning the image to CD/DVD, plus your machine doesn t seem to own software to the, try InfraRecorder, a source free program to accomplish just that.
I downloaded Virtual Clone Drive, however it s damaged. I ve spent days gone by three hours looking to figure out how for getting Sims 2 Life Stories to figure, and this really is where I m at.
Every time I attempt to mount an iso file it gives me the autorun window for just a split second, that disappears. Trying to acquire the Killing to operate, and it also s irritating - -. Any thoughts?
Thanx 4 tha Tips!!!:D I hope it creates W7 ;D
i really have spent the very last few hours trying to setup Civ4 in my vista 32 bit by mounting the iso file with virtual clone drive and alcohol 120% nevertheless it still asks to the cd and wont run! any ideas?
DaemonTools v4 does not have any spyware, and is also much much better than this.
This is absolutely cool. All the other ones I ve tried either caused viruses or messed within the boot files. Does it assist 32 bit Vista too?
DAEMON Tools is a great one, and I would rather it absolutely was free and something had to give consideration during installation than any particular one had to pay money for doing this. It might be argued that many these programs exhibit rootkit like behaviour, like order to do the task they do, especially with games, they must some extent hide themselves on the OS.
Guys i have a very huge problem.I recently installed Vista black editionSP!-32 of my games requires only daemon for playing, however when i install daemon, vista just restarts without giving any error. same task happens once i install alcohol alcohol too.I m currently using Power ISO, but that game would only assist daemon therefore i require for getting it installed help !!!
My Laptop is triple Boot seperate primary partitions. Running Xp Pro SP3 32 Bit Retail, Vista Ultimate SP2 32 Bit Retail Vista Ultimate SP2 64 Bit Retail.
Was running Win 7 RC Build 7100 within the Ultimate 64 Bit slot but dumped it personal gripes Classic style menus Win 3.11 Control Panel with miniature or microscopic icons etc.
Alcohol 120 runs fine on all.
Ultra ISO runs fine on all supports pretty much every image type imaginable virtual drives.
Daemon Tools runs fine on all. I dumped it for reasons of non-public dislike however it ran OK.
Vista 64 Bit Rocks. Just about everything runs upon it 32 Bit or 64 Bit software. I employ a complete suite of some 95 various programs running on XP along with only 2 exceptions, all have gone on Vista 64. It has the good thing about Vista harnesses all of the hardware you may chuck at it you'll be able to actually use each of the RAM you are able to afford. The difference between 3GB 4GB is immediately noticable when booting Vista 32 or Vista 64 with precisely the same software setup.
Alcohol and Daemon Tools use rootkit techniques, which is just not really acceptable practice and will not be really well enough advertised do most of the people here recommending them know that they're rootkits?. Also, in case you are a software developer, DT will break your debugging tools.
Not certain that other tools mentioned here have this concern, but other tools do not often emphasise tricking game manufacturers copy protection mechanisms, so hopefully not.
Amazing! Clone virtualdrive works perfect in this little Windows 7 deskstop computer i would suggest all uses to go because of it since its a freeware and not too buggy Power ISO or daemon tools
A must for all those windows 7 users!
Loaded the Windows 7 RTM from Tech net. Installed VCD but saw there were no spot to shut it down, no right click to exit about the icon.
Laptop wouldn't shutdown naturally either. Had to re-install Win7.
i dont get a solution for mounting once i right go through the drive, did i not do the installation correctly or something like that?
There is not any way you are able to files with clone, and therefore either you ll have to convert all files to iso or you may switch to magic disc or alcohol.
alcohol is nice one but the way it says, it installs a spyware, I would start a sniffer test into it to know whether its true or otherwise not.
till now the only real best piece may be the alcohol, just awaiting 120% release for windows 7
I used Daemon Tools in my laptop when I had Vista Business so when a result my abilities to get the laptop to hibernate and sleep went resuming from hibernate gave a BSOD and resuming from sleep gave a black screen. I knew DT caused these faults as I updated all drivers and BIOS in a attempt to correct it. I even emailed the MS tech support and gave them an nfo file of my system plus they concluded that DT was the issue anyway, long story short, reinstalled Vista for a lot of reason I forget why and other software minus DT and hibernate and sleep worked perfectly.
I use a friend who also had similar difficulty with hibernate and sleep yet not sure if it was caused by DT even as we had differnet but similar software and hardware.
Now I ve got Windows 7 Professional RTM installed and CloneDrive seeing this blog post and yes it works perfectly.
Recommend CloneDrive 100%.
I ve been looking for weeks to get a discussion essentially like this.
See I got a fresh computer finally and it offers Vista 64 Home. I had Alcohol and Daemon before. Obviously I use games that tend being ISO files and more. Well out of all those games about 5% will install now. I always ought to go into safe mode to setup get Daemon to or Alcohol to work! And even the idea usually does not do. If I realize to setup the games always have a similar error that blame windows installer. I upgraded to service pack 2 which cames with Windows Installer 4.5 nevertheless I still get these errors which shows theres something something considerably more sneaky happening!
Any tips on what to make use of then? I find out about MagicISO, VCD and Magic Disk. Will those actually work or do I get some lame anti-piracy crap on my small computer now from a single of these programs like Alcohol?
Macrium Reflect is usually a great utility for creating entire disk images for Vista and 7 x64. The compression might be set in your liking and this course has a self extracting tool so it is possible to restore all or part within your system. Anyone tried this? I use it as being a much faster back-up utility than every other freeware I have seen to date including magic disc/iso. Haven t tried vcd, macrium works fine in my opinion.
Installed and didnt go to whichever spyware. was very beneficial for my ISO thanks.
1 For windows 7, defaults to, works in the event the iso is over a shared drive.
This is the thing that Windows needs to have built in in the past.
yeah well im new to the present mounting thing we just downloaded a iso for a different game i desired to play and i also mounted it nonetheless it aint letting me open it help please?
Nice article. I got tired with using Alcohol 120 in XP, even though it is usually a great program. This isn t functionality anyone should need to pay for right now though in linux it is possible to copy a cd/dvd with dd if/dev/cdrom and mount it using the mount command! I think the one way Windows is able to keep up inside future would be to start adding a great deal of value. In the last the OS is so bare bones which you have to spend more money just to have the basics. Those days are no longer obviously now while using cloud, google s free SAAS, and the many FOSS apps.
Whoever said Vista x64 is designed for advanced users won't know what he s referring to. x64 is worth it if you've tons of ram, and your whole body is fast. Otherwise, x86 standard is perfectly fine actually faster since there s no layer of emulation.
I downloaded the ISO of Pirates, and should not seem to acquire the virutal clone to spread out and mount the ISO. Is there another program that will mount downloaded ISOs? or do I require disk for almost any mounting program I use?
Thank you for that worked perfectly for mounting an iso image in win 7.
Running windows 7 ultimate x64, vcd works fine.
It works fantastically in my 32bit windows 7 home premium. Thanks a lot guys:
Man I been wracking my brain looking to figure out which one of such works and reading forums blah blah. I have windows 7 x64 home premium. Installed the win 7 version of magicdisc and it also installed ok jointly would think then I could begin to see the virtual cd drive however, if I clicked the shortcut to gain access to the app and mount it i kept having the file path not accessible need admin privilages bs. Of course thats bs becuase I did have rights. Anyways loaded /download/pismotech audit and it is a LIGHT app and small install. No resources utilized no frills. but great for iso s CONFIRMED it creates win 7 64 HP version
Nobody mentioned this, out of your tender to offer another alternative. I came across the next tool and possess been utilizing it ever since for disk mounting. Should work towards Vista and above as well as on 64-bit too also it s also FREE w/o spyware, and open source. I ve installed it on my small Vista PC don t recall if I ve used it as a I don t assist that PC often.
Should really check against each other. Simple to work with as well.
Thanks to the post. Nice and light, worked just like a charm on 7 x64. Didn t even need to reboot!
Microsoft Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel v2.0.1.1 conditions Windows 7 just run as administrator
Great post, this really is exactly what I was required to backup my installation discs. Thanks!
Excellent tool, works fine with win7-64 thanks!
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!! I don t discover how many days or weeks I ve been wanting to wrap my apparently feeble mind around this all torrent, archive, iso, bin jargin, but enlightenment has arrived. This is in no small part do to the present site together with others. I think I m crying. Peace
WinMount is a graphic tool, supports mounting ISO ISZ BIN MDS/MDF NRG IMG CCD CUE to virtual DVD-ROM
