I attempted to look at my favorite Blu-Ray preset from MeGUI and try translating it to TVMW5, but I soon lost patience. Now that Pegasys has finally seen light and thought we would give us AVC alternatives for Blu-Ray, its way back in my good graces.
I will likely be giving it a challenging test inside the near future, in case it passes, time with MeGUI will likely be drawing into a close.
Ive been using this software for just a month now plus the CUDA encoding works fine in this little Samsung i5 Laptop. After using StaxRip and Handbrake for encoding x264 videos TVMW5 is undoubtedly the worst in terms of comparable outputs with regard to video quality on the other software I mentioned.
The deinterlace filters are certainly not as good as the Yadif deinterlacer. I do not know why TMPGenMW5 is constantly on the use their unique version, all I get from dvd conversions are jaggy lines around sharp objects. When using Handbrake or Staxrip the perimeters are sharper no jaggies in any way.
Lastly it quality is noisy with artifacts and overly soft. The files sizes less difficult larger compared to the other software products even whenever using the similar compression settings.
Tried the latest version on some Hauppauge 1212 transport streams I captured in 1080i to convert to Matroska. Results were terrible. When I forwarded with the completed video using VLC there is very visible tearing so when played in normal speed the recording was jerky making actors motions look animated as an alternative to fluid.
I normally use HDConvertToX to convert transport streams to Matroska with excellent results, plus it looks like Ill continue with that program until TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works gets this challenge sorted out.

This is one from the best programs i tested. Only reason i perform a bit low numbers would be the conversion for psp don't work so well. The file will never play on my own psp.

I manipulate TMPG 2.5 to get a very number of years and made a decision to try out XPress 3.0 when it arrived. I was very happy from it for speed and incredibly decent quality. After some updates it was even equipped to handle my raw HDTV transport streams! I even bought the AC3 pluggin that works well very well because I was so happy by it. The only real flaw I found was that I would must remux the audio since it would be outside of sync after encode. I think its just a matter of an update to get the program compensate for your audio delay. So I would demux the audio before encode and makes use of the cute little delay box they provide to put the delay Example: - 765. It works great! The best feature for me will be the video fade filter. Both sharpen filters are useless as compared to TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress. I am still within the learning stage but 4 seems a good deal slower than 3 with all the same basic settings. Not sure why. Nice interface and layout with smooth manual file scanning. I hope the company replaces the sharpen filter with all the previous version.
Got the trial yesterday. Havent had 1 file that could play after 4 or Quicktime using Tmpgenc express 4.0. I have the most up-to-date Quicktime pro.
To decode quick time you will require Quick time 7.x or later. I should validate if I should upgrade to the present version of Quick time being able to decode ACC audio. Embedded DivX codec seems promising.
At least all features with the version 3.0 will still be supported. I cannot touch upon rendering quality yet, but up to now so good. I have tested some on the filters there are several new high-quality options, but virtualdub remains to be the king on this area. The new filters are very great for simple corrections though.
