Great animated movie. At the beginning it type of seemed corny but as proceeded, the animation was greatly done as well as in detail as well as the story was very worthwhile and fun to look at.
Was my favourite being a kid, whilst still being is sort of a matured too:D always going to get my primary animated love story. I always rewind for the part where cornelius gets into through the window to communicate with thumbelina lt;3 my my, so sweet!

Lovely animated musical version of THUMBELINA with a fantastic score by Barry Manilow and also the well-executed animation kind of Don Bluth.
Tiny Thumbelinas peaceful life with your ex mother is enlivened by her chance encounter with Cornelius, Prince from the Fairies. They quickly fall in love in the event the thumb-sized waif is kidnapped by overzealous Mrs Toad as being a prospective new bride on her oldest son. She escapes to discover herself hoplessly lost inside a big big world. Salvation comes inside form on the kindly Mrs Field Mouse who offers Thumbelina a warm home in the bitter frost. However perhaps the Field Mouse expects something in exchange, so Thumblina is forced to marry her neighbour Mr Mole. At the 11th hour Thumbelina escapes by using Jacquimo, a swallow that they saved from death, who reunites her with Prince Cornelius and her mother.
This film features lush animation from Don Bluth. As other reviewers have noted, the woodland scenes and characters are similar to Bluths masterwork THE SECRET OF NIMH. The human characters are beautifully-drawn.
Jodi Benson, who also voiced Disneys LITTLE MERMAID, is perfect within the role of Thumbelina. Broadway veteran Barbara Cook plays Thumbelinas mother. The other roles are voiced by Carol Channing Mrs Field Mouse, Charo Mrs Toad, John Hurt Mr Mole, Gary Imhoff Prince Cornelius, Gino Conforti Jacquimo, June Foray Queen and Kenneth Mars King.
Barry Manilow comes with a score of lovely Broadway-styled songs including Thumbelinas soaring ballad Soon, Mrs Field Mouses pleading Marry the Mole, Mrs Toads rousing showbiz anthem On the Road and Jacquimos inspirational If You Follow Your Heart.

This movie was pretty good. It would be a typical Don Bluth. I liked it. BUT-BUT-and again, BUT!-I cannot stand idly by while these empty-headed yahoos get their say relating to this movies animation!
I would first prefer to say that I DO know something about animation. NO, Im not an animator, but thats my dream. I have watched many movies inside my quest to discover how to make a good movie using animation. I have come to your conclusion which the public in gemeral has NO CLUE what great animation is. This movies reviews have convinced me without a doubt. For example, the reviewers for this have reported dated animation. The only thing dated about this is what has GOOD, unlike additional trash being made from the these days Pixar excluded. You can say everything you like in regards to the drawings-some turn out pretty weird-looking-but guess what happens? THE DRAWING IS NOT THE ANIMATION, FOLKS! See, and this the general public doesnt understand. If you just think about the ACTION, not the DRAWINGS, then youre really seeing the animation. Do you see what Im saying? Okay, put a blank mask on the figures in mind; imagine stick figures. Just dont pay attention on the design or drawing. Then youll see
Also, for the scruples concerning the romance, Id love to point out that the a lot better than, say, Snow Whites as wonderfully animated, scored, and characterized as that movie was!, the romance would be a fairy tale one. I mean, a minimum of Thumbelina and Cornelius MET! Its strangeness, Im sure, comes straight through the Hans Christian Anderson story. Anyone look at the ORIGINAL Little Mermaid? Or Steadfast Tin Soldier? Guess what? In both cases, the principle characters DIE! Did YOU know that, from the fairy tale, Ariel was GOING to kill Eric so shed live, but decided to get to be the foam upon the waves? Well, she was, and he or she did actually get to be the foam upon the waves. However, within the DISNEY movie, everyone lived happily ever after, and Ariel would be a selfish brat-You know, I saw this person I type of liked the style of, so Ill just endanger my entire kingdom and him so I can go be smoochy. Thumbelina was obviously a good, innocent, nice character.
The music was actually good, too. The songs were funny when these folks were supposed to get, as well as the others were lovely. The singing wasnt even too vibrato or inhaler-y, plus they managed to maintain your horrid, ghastly, synthesized pop-version of Let Me Be Your Wings till the end from the credits, to ensure that many of us wouldnt have to get subjected with it. All-around good music. Actually, I, the Anti-Romantic as Ive been dubbed really enjoyed Let Me Be Your Wings, along it stuck within my head for your next 7 days and DIDNT MIND IT! How impressive is?
All in most, I really liked this movie. I would recommend it should you enoy animation or animated movies. If you enjoy blood and gore and swearing and also other idiocy this way, I wouldnt suggest watching it. I didnt see Thumbelina until I was within my 20s, but as I love animation, it didnt make much difference. I love this movie lastly got it on DVD a couple of days ago. Jodi Benson did yet another excellent job lending her voice towards the lead character as well as the music was great too. The only complaints I have in regards to the movie, to echo other reviewers, is some in the animals inside farm were very strange looking. Also, I couldnt help but observe that Thumbelina was constantly losing her balance wherever she was standing. Still, I think Don Bluth did a fantastic job on Thumbelina understanding that it deserved far more recognition. I admit, Im a softy for fairy tales, and I actually love her innocent, naive personality. It was great to see her make right decision by the end though, even knowing she may be alone. Unlike what some reviewers have said, I think that produces her a terrific role model. We all have to plod through a learning process. But without getting silly well as over analyzing the films psy

I awoke one morning recently with the key love song to the movie Let Me Be Your Wings stuck within my head. I loved this movie like a child, but hadnt seen it in a long time, so I couldnt remember every one of the lyrics. I had to appear them up online to stop the melody humming constantly during my head. Then one thing resulted in another, and I needed to rent the DVD. I expected it to get pretty childish and boring, but not to like it half around I had when I was young. I was wrong.
The movie was only as fantastic as being the last time I had watched it. The songs took my breath away, the animation was great, along with the ending still helped me clap for joy. I can see where people may find this heroine weak, but she isnt entirely pathetic. Shes just lost, and seeking to find her way inside a huge world. She much less helpless than one particular Disney princesses who just sit around looking forward to their Prince to rescue them. The only thing movie that I didnt love was the phony French swallow singing Follow Your Heart. Good message, terribly cheesy accent. But Thumbelina and her Fairy Prince are lovely. I reccomend this to children and also older though it's going to probably be better if youve seen it as being a child.
My 4 and 6 yr old daughters and I LOVE this movie. Its a bit older however its been released on DVD. Having lost the videotape and missing it I were required to get the DVD. The songs are awesome and find stuck in your mind. I as a possible adult can view it over and more than again.
I was delighted to finally receive the CD version of Thumbelina recently. I bought the VHS last 1998 for my 4 years old daughter and he or she loved it. Besides the storyplot, characters, and celebrity voices, it is the music that individuals still benefit from the most 8 years later. Barry Manilows music, as well as lyrics by Jack Feldman and Bruce Sussman can be a gem. Thank you Amazon for rejuvinating my 12 years old daughter and I time for children again!
I just rented this movie last week and watched it with my six years old daughter. The story line will not be so predictable like Disney ones are, and then there are a good deal of twists and turns from the plot. I dont such as the fact that it is again another My Prince Will Come, and well live Happily Ever After story like all of the others, but no less than there is MORE to the story than that.
It demonstrates that males can lie and cheat to secure a that sometimes you need to look out for yourself and dont believe all you could hear. So determined by that I provide it with 5 the singing is extremely good, therefore is the animation. This movie isn't cheesy like some people you may find for children. Definitely understand this movie, it can be more than worth every penny.
