I wish to review all in the games included, but I really dont might like to do each one seperately. I may. But for now, Im reviewing them each seperately in this Anthology review, because that is certainly how I bought them.
I actually got BFME the 1st as a gift after which later bought the Anthology for sale.
The first BFME would have been a great game. I enjoyed the departure from the majority of my RTS experiences where I could keep units between battles, making an army that persisted on earth map. I also like having heroes that much cla up and possess various powers. It could end up difficult to upgrade battalions in BFME due towards the way buildings levelled up. I often would find myself that has a command limit that required me to practice single battalions at any given time, and after that send them to your enemy camp to commit suicide so I could build another battalion. After many of such I could finally purchase upgrades for my single new battalion that I desired to keep. Otherwise, you need to send your veteran battalions on their deaths and begin over, which can be pointless.
My other problem for BFME is just how tedious some from the battles could become. However, to be a general rule, there have been enough different battles which it was fun, and many on the battles were vastly different. I remember steamrolling several maps and playing another map for 3 nights straight before I worked round the map and might finally defeat the enemy. Additionally, the battels like Helms Deep, Minis Tirith, as well as the Black Gate were just really fun to try out.
Graphically the sport is great. Sometimes the maps obtain a little repetative but they're well made and search good. Read more

Plenty of an individual here reviewing the experience, I just desired to tell everyone making it focus on newer computers. This trick utilizes LOTR BFME I and Rise in the Witch King too. This trick creates Windows 7 and probably works best for Vista too, just never completed it. I seriously doubt you will get problems with XP machines.
Basically, the major problem is screen resolution: todays computers are typically configured for resolutions aboveor totally different from 1024 x 768, including 1920 x1080 along with HD configurations. Some older games werent programmed with the big screens in the present day.
A little html background is needed to do this, nonetheless it shouldnt be too much for beginnersI am one myself.
You are essentially doing three things: you might be creating a brand new text file, then converting that file to some file, and dropping that file in the LOTR BFME II roaming file. The original, detailed instructions because of this fix can be obtained here, , a Windows 7 forum, but I planned to post this since it is sometimes difficult to know how to start.
1. Use Notepad to make this text fileuse a similar margins and paragraph spacing because, although Im not sure it matters, though with computers, precision is often important:
1a. Save the link file concerning your Desktop or somewhere to the point.
2. Make sure you hold the Hide extensions for known file types box unchecked in Control Panel - Folder Options
3. Browse on your newly created text file and right simply click it. Then customize the filename to your right-click menu selection: Rename. Read more

Expands on LOTR Battle For Middle Earth by expanding the capabilities with the original, for example the ability to produce Heroes from your variety of races that has a large selection of powers. Battle For Middle Earth 2 is actually difficult compared for the original, but my 13 yr old has mastered it and loves it because of its creating capabilities. The last episode is Rise Of The Witch King which can be exciting, has great graphics, along with a cast of characters new and also a few familiar.
I have not been much of your fan of RPG before Role Playing Games, but I have really had a lot of fun on this LOTR Anthology. It is excellent fun and don't ceases to challenge and frustrate. All in every - 5 starts

3.0 from 5 stars Pretty good game, slightly tedious

I want to review all from the games included, but I really dont might like to do each one seperately. I may. But for now, Im reviewing them each seperately in this Anthology review, because that is certainly how I bought them.
I actually got BFME the primary as a gift and later bought the Anthology on discount sales.
The first BFME was obviously a great game. I enjoyed the departure from the majority of my RTS experiences where I could keep units between battles, making an army that persisted on this planet map. I also like having heroes that much cla up and still have various powers. It could end up very difficult to upgrade battalions in BFME due towards the way buildings levelled up. I often would find myself which has a command limit that required me to coach single battalions each time, then send them for the enemy camp to commit suicide so I could build another battalion. After many of such I could finally purchase upgrades for my single new battalion that I planned to keep. Otherwise, you will need to send your veteran battalions with their deaths and begin over, which can be pointless.
My other issue for BFME is the place tedious some in the battles could become. However, as being a general rule, there are enough different battles which it was fun, and many in the battles were vastly different. I remember steamrolling several maps and after that playing another map for 3 nights straight before I worked about the map and surely could finally defeat the enemy. Additionally, the battels like Helms Deep, Minis Tirith, plus the Black Gate were just really fun to experience.
Graphically the action is great. Sometimes the maps get yourself a little repetative but they can be well made and appearance good. The gameplay is amazing, and I love how cavalry can just go beyond archers and in some cases swordsmen to complete damage to them without actually attacking but suffer great damage after they charge pikemen. Likewise, arrows and also flaming arrows can perform great injury to large beasts including mumakil and trolls, sometimes causing the crooks to rage. There are also nice little combinations like explosive mines which might be set off with flaming arrows. For instance, I once piled mines completely around a Gondor fortress. It took some time but was worth every penny when I set the initial one off plus the entire wall exploded in conjunction with several from the buildings inside wall.
Battle for Middle Earth 2 had some improvements over the initial game, as well as in my opinion made a few things out that will have been included. And I must admit, I could possibly be wrong on a number of this because I quickly got unclear about the different game modes.
If Im not mistaken, so long as get to help keep battalions from battle towards the next inside the campaign. I do NOT prefer that. It is much simpler to upgrade however, when you simply pay resources to upgrade buildings. It is odd that I would like the upgrade techniques to be switched involving the games because in BFME2 you dont begin with masses of troops so you could have more command limit utilise, plus BFME1 you'll have a easier time upgrading in case you just needed to pay to the upgrades to level the buildings up. That is really my one major complaint concerning the sequel.
Also, the tale seems somewhat disjointed in my opinion, nonetheless it could be because I am unfamiliar with all the stories being told inside the campaign of BFME2 and Rise from the Witch King.
What I like is the power to purchase boats, even though they rarely be important they need a tropical hopping map, and also the ability to generate your own hero. I also love War with the Ring mode, a minimum of in RotWK I admittedly havent played it in BFME2.
Another great addition is the chance to build anywhere into the spotlight. I also love being capable of construct walls, a minimum of as some factions. The walls are a tad odd because sometime the enemy can just pass through them, but that isn't normally the way it is. Some enemies can climb them that's cool. The resource structure technique is improved at the same time, enabling you to build them just about anyplace but they may be vulnerable and just give a proportion with their potential based on where you position them.
War on the Ring mode provides a world map, and enables you in single player to decide on your team plus your enemies and starting locations. You can even form teams the Men with Mordor should you wish. Then it gets to be a Risk style world map game with teams taking territories, building structures, and training troops. When you attack or defend, you are able to chose auto resolve or RTS. In RTS, you go to the map and play as normally, with forces persisting on the world map. It is actually very fun although it can be a lttle bit tedious from time to time. I enjoyed it greater than the actual campaign. My sole fault of that may be that it isnt very intuitive and takes somewhat to figure out that this armies should move and group up, and it is possible to use one created hero but that hero can't lead panic or anxiety attack. Nor can any purchased hero. This is actually to help keep it balanced and force you to only attack 4 regions in a very move using your original heroes, but it really can get frustrating.
Replay Potential: 85% it is possible to play as different factions, or put in place War from the Ring with various starting rules
Detail: 90% very little to detail nonetheless they do it well, I would rate the initial game slightly below the second if I seperated them
Story: 85% a bit light, but should you know the story plot prior to playing it really is fine
Interface: 80% might get confusing and not bad.

I am a HUGE fan of RTS games with command and conquer and total annihilation being my top features. This is usually a simple, yet action packed RTS that is certainly a blast to learn. You choose from a favorite LOTR races so anyone familiar while using fantasy series will smile after they see the characters involved. There isnt much inside the way of units/buildings, nevertheless it is supposed to be a fast paced game anyways, not much of a 10 hour affair like total annihilation. You can build various heroes, each race incorporates a different set. These heroes can impact the gameplay in a number of ways and that means you arent always playing the identical game twice. You hold the option to try out through the storyline mode, or play a skirmish against AI players, or play online or via LAN along with your friends. The game looks OK, but then again it truly is several years old during the time of this review.
Variety of numerous races, not the normal 2 or 3 options the thing is that in most RTS games
Heroes undoubtedly are a great addition, there are lots of them!
Build Eagles, Nazgul, Ents, whatever you build it

It is unusual to get a pre-established series like The Lord from the Rings to actually take with a sequel, but EA Game s LORD OF THE RINGS: THE BATTLE FOR MIDDLE EARTH II with the PC proved this theory wrong. This game seems to take the well-known mythology surrounding the story plot and focused for the war inside the North between your elves, dwarves, goblins, and Mordor forces which is only touched upon within the book and is also left out completely from the movies. LORD OF THE RINGS: THE BATTLE FOR MIDDLE EARTH II plays out much like the action of Risk for the reason that players must move their armies around a board that's covered in territories. Players may find that this new battle between good and evil comes about on a much grander scale with six different factions combining to from the forces of Mordor. Players may combine forces in multiplayer mode to have the most out on the fights. This power to customize the fighting options makes for the great game regardless of type of mood you is in. All of those factors make playing the 2nd installment inside the Battle for Middle Earth series in the same way exciting and entertaining as the 1st time around, with no worry that players will try to be repeating the sport in a different format. LORD OF THE RINGS: THE BATTLE FOR MIDDLE EARTH II is made for Tolkien fans.

Defend or overtake lands including Dol Guldur, The Misty Mountains, and Mirkwood when you unleash powerful new weapons and talents: summon dragons, cause volcanoes to erupt, or lessen a cataclysmic lightning strike.
This demo includes two different tutorial campaigns as well as the ability to skirmish as either the dwarves and the elves because you battle for treatments for Middle-Earth.
Really great graphics and music, and voices are perfect too. Gameplay is awesome and multiplayer fully version is or was pretty fun. insufficient support on the crap house called EA sucks but theres an abundance of amazing alternative patches and mods.
it takes awhile to get yourself a good match on multiplayer, war from the ring is kinda lacking with the original, and EA has just about abandoned the bingo. The expansion pack is horrible with all the only good bonus being the extended war on the ring.
The game really trained me in alot about strategy and middle-earth. Its really fun along with the graphics are perfect. Barely any bugs and also you only come upon cheaters every so often on multiplayer. Dont have the expansion since there are so many more bugs, imbalances, and game crashes. However, the initial game BFME2 is amazing.
Great graphics and overall good gameplay.
Have played demo before and worked fine however, with each of the latest updates done, game will not install. Direct X incompatibility.
Great game if it is fine on your system.
One on the best strategy games available!
The graphics are awesome. Also, the overall game play is outstanding.
I had problems downloading from EA with no problems here. The game is VERY good. Its not perfect, as the limited by various units plus the lack on the 3rd dimension in strategy, but so were the center ages. Very happy while using game, and Im sure Ill purchase the anthology now!
I was impressed with the amount came together with the demo that I don't have any complaints. Most demos are FAR more limited.
Nice graphics. The game draws you into its world, and huge units including trolls or mumakils, slaughtering 3-4 units in each swoop is cool. Fast gameplay.
Heroes are waaay too good inside the late game, unit AI is below mediocre, buildings are destroyed approach to fast. It got balance issues.
Damn. I was certaintly amazed by the gameplay. This isnt the typical starcraft or warcraft. a lot of fun.
wouldnt recommend for slow completley lags within the whole thing. good graphic card required.
