A new edition of TeraCopy is being rewritten over completely from scratch. The goal would be to make it faster and much more extensible. Planned features include:
Unlimited volume of files, keep file list on disk rather then memory.
Immediate oncoming of copying as an alternative to waiting for calculation of total files size.
Verify copied files with MD5/SHA-1 rather then CRC32, substitute for create file list.
Show file list as browsable folders, show only failed files.
One window for multiple file transfer operations.
TeraCopy 3 beta is predicted to be released early pick up.
The new copy engine is ready and shows a great speed with both small and big files. Testing was over with an individual 8 Gb file and 9 000 small files 300kb in proportions. In both cases speed was on the par or slightly faster in comparison to Windows copy. MD5 hash calculation was on throughout the large file copy. Small files copying speed improved lots after disabling Windows Defender.
TeraCopy now can avoid UAC prompts while reading files usually requiring elevation. This will eliminate possible access denied errors inside a middle with the copy process. For security reasons this feature are going to be available simply to non-elevated administrators, users using a standard account will still be instructed to start TeraCopy with admin privileges.
Copying using Volume Shadow Service is ready. Used usually in backup applications, it lets you copy files locked by other applications.
