Great book with lots of worked examples and exercises for every chapter. I used another edition of Loomis when I took Calculus. The book explains the fabric so well that I taught myself reading the publication. The examples are plenty of and particularly good in showing both basic and difficult problems. Some books only show the straightforward problems or insufficient assortment of them. If anyone features a trouble with this book, serious report on algebra 2 is usually recommended.
As for some from the previous reviews, there's no section 5.1.1 or 5.1.2, unless they may be talking about a previous edition, which I have not seen. There is no mistake in section 5.1 or 5.2. But you'll find some mistakes inside answers inside back.
Looking back at the ebook now, I prefer what Swokowski did using the series chapter superior Loomis has interesting discussions on irrational numbers etc, but in the expense of losing the main objective. But Loomis does one with the best job in introducing vectors and procedures of several variables. The chapter on Greens theorem can be quite nice, too. The chapter on multiple integral starts by proclaiming that it is only an introduction like every other book when it reaches this level. What I realize now's that one must go through to advanced calculus or vector calculus to get down those things. I like Shueys vector calculus, and after mastering that book, Bucks advanced calculus.
So when I was 16 I asked my teacher how could I learn calculus. He pointed me in an earlier version in this book by Abbott alone. Over the summer holidays with the end of 4th year high school graduation, I read it cover to pay and learned calculus. I passed the novel on to my daughter. I am now and have absolutely been for 20 years, a professor of theoretical chemistry. This is usually a good book.
This is wonderful for a fast review/reference manual for somebody already studying Calculus. For comprehensive reference notes, mainly for anyone learning or who uses math into their daily job.

I bought this book due to the coverage of exponentials and also hyperbolic equations-which it can very well.
I liked the novel. It was accesible and unpedantic. I had tried a few other sources before that one, and so they all had an overall tendency to become unapproachable. But it explained things clearly and concisely. It has several examples, and theyre more often than not clearly worked.
The only a couple of things to which I take exception will be in section 5.1.2, the place where a careless error is created that did in reality leave me saying what, along with the lack of creative kind of excercises thoughout the publication. To be honest though, I never really did any from the exercises, and I understood calculus adequately after reading this book.
As another plus, as opposed to most academic books, this one is incredibly cheap. Give it a try!

Late response, but better late than never right? I did IB too, though about decade back. Univariate calculus traditionally takes two semesters for the university level with all the second semester introducing some multivariate portions.
