In 2001 I bought the 19th edition while going to an alternative medicine college course; when I saw the latest edition was available I ordered it post haste. It is fully 200 pages longer, and contains, needless to say, the most recent references and terminology; also better not too pleasant to consider, but, well, after The appendices have become informative, and I think this is really a great dictionary for almost any family; not merely for people inside the medical field, or med students. And if you choose to do buy it, dont pass above the introduction; its worth a few moments read. Often I reference this resource for general information, or whenever a family member or friend incorporates a question in regards to the body, illness or surgical procedure. It has been worthwhile, and clarified lots of misinformation or deficiency of accurate information that sometimes floats around and is particularly surmised as true. Even if you have another medical dictionary, you cant go awry by adding this to your bookshelf.

I am taking courses pursuant to joining the Medical Coding profession. Unfortunately, the texts from Pearson are woefully inadequate pertaining to a glossary and definitions. If you are interested in a compact medical dictionary to cart in your backpack and decide to use class this may not be it. Hopefully the photographs I have posted can keep someone else from making exactly the same mistake I did.
This book is perfect for keeping your desk in the home to look up terms, phrases and also procedures. The type is really clear and easy to learn. It is thumb indexed in 3 letter groupings. The key words are printed in bold san-serif type for quick scanning listed below. Many illustrations will be in color and then there are color photos too. There are tables, charts and graphs to help you illustrate a definition. Some definitions are multi-page. The definition for diabetes is finished 6 pages long and includes types, causes, treatments, prognosis and general patient care.
Although I was disappointed when I received this since it was not what I wanted I may ensure that is stays anyway. At 3 pounds its an excessive amount of a porker to transport around nonetheless its a great reference tool and an outstanding product.
