I am learning Spanish. I had read until this book was primarily created for Spanish speakers learning English, but I didnt realize what that really meant. I had taken a rapid look at a classmates copy in the book and yes it seemed great if you ask me, so I bought one too.
The heart on this book can be a set of vocabulary in the English and Spanish on each page, illustrated by pictures. This feature is evenly useful for people learning Spanish or English.
Then at the end or side of each and every page you will find points for additional practice, questions for discussion, as well as the like. There are also occasional stories accompanied by questions on comprehension. These are all in English, and they are really useful exclusively for Spanish speakers learning English.
Im much more interested from the vocabulary versus the exercises anyway. The exercises might be useful in the classroom setting, and Im sure they actually do add some value for English learners. But the finger-in-the-wind estimate is the fact that I can still enjoy about 75-80% on the functionality in the book.

I am trying to be taught a bit of Spanish and through the Look Inside feature on Amazon this book looked an outstanding quick visual hitting the ground with learn Spanish words. It definitely is, along with the visual descriptions are very helpful and well-organized. I had the English-only version with this book, but once I realized how useful it had been for my English adult class I ordered the English/Spanish will be able to relearn Spanish. Also most of my students are Spanish speakers, so as opposed to making copies in English only, I started making them inside the E/S version. It saved me the trouble of trying to translate. Besides everything I love the thematic approach in the book. The possibilities of implementing each of its pages are unlimited for classroom activities. It is really a classroom life-saver when the teacher is creative and knows tips on how to plan activities around each page. For example I used 2 verb pages for practicing pres. continuous, then pr. simple, along with verb tenses, making questions etc. I used exactly the same copies for practicing what students do inside course of the day, plus much more.

I am an English speaker trying to understand Spanish. This book is a bit more for Spanish speakers that are learning English. In the index, the English words are shown pronunciations, not the Spanish. The example sentences and questions come in English, they can be more beneficial in Spanish. It is usually a nice book, although not what I wanted.

I manipulate several versions on the Oxford picture dictionaries over time with kids, and I possess a more exhaustive version that I purchase for myself for a long time navigating between two languages. I use this type of one with my adult ESOL classes-its current, gives useful vocabulary and data, plus they can put it into practice without delay. At this point, I find it not only helpful, but essential, being a tool for English Learners. Id recommend it to anyone learning English.

One of my specialties is vocabulary, so Im always looking positive visual dictionaries. Ive bought half Ive found, and a lot of the rest are saved to my grocery list. This is usually a very close second towards the Oxford Picture Dictionary as one of the best. Its not as comprehensive and also the illustrations will not be as good, though the topical arrangement is way better and its easier in your budget. The authors wrote several other excellent ESL books. Two of the vocabular books will include a basic version on this one and Day By Day: English For Employment Communication. I REALIZE in retrospect that the item description says this book is made for English study, but one on the tags was something similar to Foreign language/instruction/Korean. So I hoped and thought it will be 50/50 enough to utilize to study Korean. This just isn't the case. Even the vocabulary is slanted toward English learning, plus the support material is ONLY in English. Word for Word, maybe, yet not sentence for sentence, usage for usage, or activity for activity.
So my lackluster rating can be biased, but I feel it really may have done more. I am an English teacher in Korea, so I could do worse than another tool to the trade. I may visit love this system in time as supplemental material. The extent and range in the vocabulary and illustrations presented is commendable.
However, if you might be one with the thousands of English teachers in Korea looking to gain an edge with your Korean self-education, keep looking so you may find something less one-sided. This one just isn't targeted in your case.
