I am learning Spanish. I had read until this book was primarily meant for Spanish speakers learning English, but I didnt know very well what that really meant. I had taken an instant look at a classmates copy on the book plus it seemed great in my experience, so I bought one too.
The heart of the book is often a set of vocabulary both in English and Spanish on each page, illustrated by pictures. This feature is every bit useful for people learning Spanish or English.
Then at the end or side of the page you will discover points for additional practice, questions for discussion, plus the like. There are also occasional stories then questions on comprehension. These are all in English, and they are really useful limited to Spanish speakers learning English.
Im considerably more interested from the vocabulary versus the exercises anyway. I am trying to become familiar with a bit of Spanish and on the Look Inside feature on Amazon this book looked a superb quick visual mention of the learn Spanish words. I had the English-only version with this book, however when I realized how useful it turned out for my English adult class I ordered the English/Spanish that i can relearn Spanish. Also every one of my students are Spanish speakers, so as opposed to making copies in English only, I started making them from the E/S version. It saved me the trouble of trying to translate. Besides everything I love the thematic approach in the book. The possibilities of implementing each of its pages are unlimited for classroom activities. It is really a classroom life-saver should the teacher is creative and knows the way to plan activities around each page. For example I used 2 verb pages for practicing pres. continuous, then pr. simple, as well as other verb tenses, making questions etc. I used a similar copies for practicing what students do from the course of an day, plus more.

I am an English speaker trying to understand Spanish. This book is a lot more for Spanish speakers whorrrre learning English. In the index, the English words get pronunciations, not the Spanish. The example sentences and questions will be in English, they will be more useful for Spanish. It is really a nice book, however, not what I wanted.

I purchase several versions on the Oxford picture dictionaries through the years with kids, and I use a more exhaustive version that I purchased for myself for many years navigating between two languages. I use that one with my adult ESOL classes-its current, gives useful vocabulary and knowledge, plus they can put it into practice immediately. At this point, I find it besides helpful, but essential, like a tool for English Learners. Id recommend it to anyone learning English.

One of my specialties is vocabulary, so Im always looking positive visual dictionaries. Ive bought half Ive found, and most from the rest take my list. This is really a very close second to your Oxford Picture Dictionary as the most popular. Its not as comprehensive plus the illustrations will not be as good, even so the topical arrangement is way better and its easier on your own budget. The authors wrote several other excellent ESL books. Two of these vocabular books will include a basic version in this one and Day By Day: English For Employment Communication. Their Foundations is really a conversation book but is usually a good vocabulary builder.

I REALIZE in retrospect that the product or service description says this book is made for English study, but one on the tags was something similar to Foreign language/instruction/Korean. So I hoped and thought it may be 50/50 enough to utilize to study Korean. This will not be the case. Even the vocabulary is slanted toward English learning, plus the support material is ONLY in English. Word for Word, maybe, and not sentence for sentence, usage for usage, or activity for activity.
So my lackluster rating can be biased, but I think that it really can have done more. I am an English teacher in Korea, so I could do worse than another tool for your trade. I may visit love this device in time as supplemental material. The extent and range on the vocabulary and illustrations presented is commendable.
However, should you be one of the a huge number of English teachers in Korea seeking to gain an edge on the Korean self-education, keep looking and you also may find something less one-sided. This one isn't targeted in your case.
