Help needs benefit NLE neophytes like myself, but being fair this app probably isnt designed for those of my limited experience.
I have an overabundance of experience with Adobe Premiere, but Ill be buying some version of Vegas.
With P you have to incorporate a dissolve to each and every clip. With Vegas you merely drag and overlap the clips and Wah-Lah!
I never did discover how to delete the audio track and then leave the video, but muted it didnt issue.
The rendered files I only had time for it to edit two simple 3 minute videos over 1 month due to unexpected events gave the impression to maintain each of the resolution from the raw HD footage.

Ive been using Sony Vegas editing software for just a few years now. I recently just upgraded from Pro 10 32bit on the Vegas 12 64bit version. The first thing that I noticed was the dramatic surge in speed in the rendering and playback preview. Before the upgrade, if I had lots of transitions or effects next the preview screen would become very jerky. Those complaints are long gone following the upgrade to 12. Not sure just how much of which includes to do while using 32bit vs 64bit - or if it turned out because V12 is optimized.
Some other nice features include Layer dimensionality - a whole new feature which enables your Text really POP. You is now able to add Bevels effects that produce the text look considerably more professional looking.
The masking features are also updated, although I dont have a tendency to do a lot to be able feature.
Overall I am pretty very pleased with Vegas 12. It is definitely an upgrade over what I had previously. I am a Commentator on Youtube, and I render several videos weekly. So far, Vegas Pro 12 has become extremely reliable with not many hiccups.

I purchased Sony Vegas extensively for more than 4 years. Ive encountered some difficulties with it over the years, but this latest version is amazing.
Version 9 familiar with crash on me from time for you to time, but ran quickly on my small system so I preferred it over Adobe Premiere.
Version 10 crashed less, but was less responsive in my system. Version 11 would have been a nightmare to me. Extremely slow rendering times!!
But with Version 12, I am a happy man!
PROS: Super fast, extremely reliable. It never crashes. Runs smoother than any previous version.
CONS: GPU acceleration does not work together with my video card GeForce 9800GTX. I must disable GPU acceleration when rendering, otherwise I get flashing and artifacts that come in my videos.
RECOMMENDATION: Buy this system! If the cost is too high, I recommend Sonys Movie Studio 12 version. Its a fraction from the cost whilst still being gives 75% from the functionality.
I originally thought the GPU acceleration wouldn't work properly with my video card. But I just did a clean install of Windows 8 and reinstalled Sony Vegas 12. Not sure if its as a result of Windows 8 and the newest Radeon drivers, though the GPU acceleration works GREAT now! My rendering times are already cut by 1/3!
