I loved Snagit 7 and 8. Ive for ages been a fan with this product, and in tech support, I can honestly say I use quite sure every day - for troubleshooting and documentation. I upgraded to version 9 after I used the trial version for any week. The trial version was very slow, but I assumed which was due to it being trial. I assumed the paid version will be much faster. I was wrong. Press the Print Screen key, and relax. Versions 7 8 were instantaneous. Version 9 uses a full two seconds to begin with capturing, then another two seconds to file for the Editor. Also, in version 8, my captures saved as JPG. In 9, they save as PNG. Why isnt there a setting to permit users to put the default file type? Finally, the capture history feature may very well be useful for many folks, but I still find it very annoying, and need there was one method or another to disable it. I would honestly delay until version 9.1 or until Techsmith works within the speed issues at the least.

For someone much like me who produces a living as being a technical writer and instructional designer, Snagit is indispensable. The new interface usually takes some getting utilized to, but the 8.0 interface was almost insultingly simplistic-it looked in my opinion like it principal purpose is by Fisher Price or Lego. With 9.0 I found myself able to complete all the same functions that I been dependent on with earlier versions. The interface have a look and feel thats comforting to Office 2007 users, but as I dont thinking about migrating to Office 2007 or Vista, that aspect is lost on me. I hope TechSmith perfects their Mac version of Snagit soon.

I appreciated the sniping tool in Vista - - but I hated Vista a great deal I reinstalled XP. So I missed the sniping tool and Googled for the solution and discovered Snag It! Snag It! is way, far superior on the simpleton tool Microsoft had SURPRISE.

With just one screen shot, I can capture a complete web page automatically. Before using SnagIt, I had to consider multiple screen shots, then try and paste it back together. You can select only portion of a window or portion of the entire screen if you want. I make extensive use on the Shape feature to get circles or squares around the portion of the screen where I saw a difficulty, and I utilize the Text feature to include notes about the challenge.
