I still find it incredibly incredible that I spent 60 on something which I cant even log into to experiment with. My first city that I spent a long time on was lost forever because of server issues at EA. Oh, and begin to forget trying to get a rapid game in whenever your server where your save resides is either full or busy. I only wanted to try out a quick game, completely solo, and am expected to wait and wait and wait and wait. And dont believe the 20-30 min timer. Sometimes even that is certainly incorrect.
Shame for you EA. For the last several years I have watched you slowly turn this industry in a wasteland. And now within your latest attempt in attempting to stick in your corporate policy of crushing any situation that closely resembles the human beings spirit, you've got turned SimCity in to a 60 thirty minute countdown and server status app. Awesome.
I spent this money because I still planned to support Maxis. After all, I grew up that has a lot of Maxis games that I absolutely loved. Still do. But this? This is probably one from the dumbest things EA and Maxis can have ever done. If its possible for me personally to even get yourself a refund, I want it. Well, this will be the world of EA games. For years this is have been plugging DRM into games whether its singleplayer or multiplayer. At some unspecified date, coming from a year to several years later, theyll pull the plug around the life-support from the game aka server and tah-dah! Your 60 game is currently a 60 Frisbee.
There isn't any reason whatsoever that anyone who shells out top-dollar for the over-hyped game should should sit within a queue all day at a time to even get to the main menu. The queue makes NO mention of one's spot in line, and simply says, ATTEMPTING to reconnect in: 20 minute countdown. That is, not checking persistently. That is, indefinite wait time. Your saves are SERVER based, therefore your connection is lost, the server hiccups, or maybe you move to some less-populated server? Hours of gameplay wasted.
Tutorials are bugged. Region buttons are greyed out and not able to continue. The crashes force you to sit from the queue once more.

Its a regrettable day if your brand new shiny City-Sim game on todays modern computers cant even hold a candle to its 120 month old predecessor. Sim City 4 I happen to be waiting in anxious anticipation for SimCity because the moment I discovered its existence. All of those tiny little frusrating issues with SC4 would finally get updated, so we would finally contain the SimCity weve been hoping to see. Surely, with ten years to research and discover what their loyal fans truly loved concerning the City building series, there were no way EA could fail at creating a truly wonderful, classic game that may hold up as being a true joy to learn for years to come.

You killed a child inside me.
The individual who remembers playing SimCity. The first one. Who recalls fondly a childhood of Sim games, spending countless hours on my small Compaq 486 sx33 living simulated lives in simulated bliss. I played each of the iterations: I built recreational areas and zoos and I even went as far as to adore SimAnt. Anyone remember SimAnt? You were a yellow ant. And Ant Simulated Ant things. I did that.
Over recent years, as I grew directly into an adult, SimCity grew beside me. Through every evolution, I enjoyed it. I bonded along with it. I wanted living in an Arcology eventually, from the distant future. Maxis, you stimulated my impressionable mind and provided me critical thinking skills as well as a grounded conduit for my creativity.
For those years, I am thankful. I even played The Sims a tad, but became busy being a grownup and living a non-simulated life.
When I read of a year ago there would certainly be a new SimCity game, I was ecstatic. I immediately sent links to my childhood friends, started reading every piece I could over it, and gleefully watched sneak previews on YouTube. I was excited.
I Pre-Ordered it on Amazon. Then I ordered it on Origin because I could understand two hours earlier- thats how excited I was to download it.
