Ive been a Sibelius user since version 5, having cross-graded from Finale after managing and researching its crashes, bugs, and program problems became a part-time job on it's own. At the same time I switched to Mac platform with Logic Pro and Apogee audio hardware, within the advice of any studio pro colleague, and combined with Sibelius 5, enjoyed a virtually glitch-free studio for approximately three years. The upgrade to Sibelius 6 seemed to be smooth.
The new Sibelius 7 reminds me of my days with Finale and PCs: it crashes just about every session during many operations, including simple ones as saving and printing. Exporting to PDF crashes four times out of 5. Even saving to previous versions crashes often, in order that some projects are temporarily useless. The installation have disabled Sibelius 6 on the point where ReWire with Logic don't work, along with the Sound Essentials work only intermittently. Often error message boxes haven't any actual text - revealing that some error scenarios are not anticipated and coded. Yes, I have the many OS and program updates. And to be sure the problems are not on my end, I performed an entirely clean OS X Lion install which I have never once found necessary on the Mac, and all sorts of problems remained.

Sibelius 7 is BY FAR the worst program I have ever used. Every single time I try to look at or take advantage of this software I am met with interface hell and little bugs without having explanation that will and opt for seemingly absolutely no reason at all.
If I had downloaded this application totally free I would be insulted that a person even wasted time with it, however the fact that I paid a hefty price to upgrade from Sibelius 4 makes me sick.
Please do not buy the product and support their madness. No wonder AVID let go the entire dev team and just holds onto this product by a shoe string.

I ordered Sibelius 7 for school, as a music composition major and it as being a requirement for just a class. Before, I had just used a no cost notation software, MuseScore. Though switching between products was obviously a wee bit of your hassle, once I got employed to Sibelius, I really like it. My only complaint is that it may seem to crash a little. I suggest saving your scores once in a while while when you write them to be able to not lose work. Other than that, Sibelius 7 can be a fine, sleek way to publish down your music.

I went from Sibelius first to Sibelius 7.5, the most recent update, my desktop doesnt like it by any means but eventually reached it to work in my laptop, and following a couple minutes of writing we've noticed something the audio is very much worse, literally each and every instrument sounds far worse and even more fake than anything did ahead of the update, the piano sounds pretty ok but that's literally it. in order to score music, this is going to be the bare minimum you may need, in order to even pass the background music as decent background for any recreational user, dont have this software. its over priced for providing you with less features.

This is usually a very robust program, a terrific tool for your trained musician. The only drawback is usually that the user manual that comes on pdf is a lttle bit sketchy. It takes some time and experimentation to locate some with the functions approaches to get them to figure ie. glissandi.
I bought this software to digitize a theatrical score and yes it produced a recorded score appropriate for performance on stage.
Although pricey, it is really a few hundred dollars less on Amazon than buying right from Avid.
